The slaw on the side was not great and just tasted like vinegar and paprika. The BLT was on a small fresh roll but was also falling apart and made it hard to eat without making a mess. The bacon had no smokey flavor and the cream cheese was a little too much so changes I would make is stronger bun, bacon with more smokiness, maybe some picked red onion to cut the richness. They have sausage, of course, steaks, seafood, poultry, jerky, the works. They have a hard jerky and a soft jerky. I thought the hard jerky was too hard for me, but the soft jerky was perfect. I picked up some of the brisket jerky, the Japanese jerky, and their original jerky. Some of the items they make themselves, some of the items are brought in, but everything is good. They also have wines, sauces, condiments, the works. They also have a full on lunch counter, and in the back, for the kids or the kids at heart, they even have classic video games. Not only donkey Kong, but things such as pole position! They are $.50 now, instead of just a quarter, though.... I had the mushroom Swiss burger, with coleslaw, instead of fries on the side. The burger was done, medium, as I asked, and it was delicious! The coleslaw was very good, it was lightly dressed, and it was like a vinegar type dressing. The dressing wasn't too strong, it was just right. Lunch was a very large portion. Besides the jerky, I also got a blueberry sausage, and a chicken apple sausage, those are going to be excellent. I registered online and picked up my bag of cheese at Don Froylan in Salem! The bag continued an amazing variety of OR cheeses-many that I had never heard of! We even received a Portland Creamery Goat Milk Caramel Sauce, which is probably the most delicious thing I've ever had! The virtual "festival" had interviews with many of the farms/cheese makers! I'm sure on person meetings would have been more fun but I thought the OR Cheese Guild did a great job putting this together!!

It is a small, intimate space where we were greeted with a big smile by the hostess and our waiter came by soon after we were seated. It was a chilly walk around the corner so I was looking for a hot coffee to warm me up. Having never been here before I opted for the special of the day, which was something with lavender in it, and I was surprised at the delicate way the latte both supported the robust coffee flavor and the delicate lavender addition. It was better than I anticipated and I knew that we had stumbled upon a gem of a spot that emphasized quality of what they serve. Now, for breakfast, I love a good gravy but I am always disappointed by my order. The country gravy is usually too thin, to bland, too chunky with some sort of meat product, and too small of quantity to really enjoy a good biscuit with it. With this skepticism in mind, I ordered the "The Works" assuming at the very least, the addition of fried eggs and ham were good enough to eat on its own when the gravy, which I also assume will disappoint me, runs dry. I apologize for my assumptions, ButterCloud Bakery, because I was served a thick, seasoned, peppery gravy and plenty of it. This is actually the best gravy I have ever ordered from a restaurant, if I was not traveling, I might have bought a few sides of this delicious concoction and brought it home for the next several mornings! Nothing skimpy on my plate. My husband ordered the beef and blue and devoured every last bite. I managed to steal a few bites off his plate and was pleasantly surprised, I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I stole a few more bites when he was in the bathroom! We left very satisfied with our meal, our drinks, and our service. Fast forward a few months later and we are traveling with my parents to California and we insisted that we stopped by ButterCloud Bakery to share our gem of a find. My mom considers herself quite the cook and she also was skeptical of the gravy. One bite and her eyes popped...she was also impressed. This time round I had the scone and gravy and enjoyed every last bite. My mom tried a specialty hot chocolate and I, again, had the latte special of the day, both were rich with flavor. Our second round at ButterCloud Bakery did not disappoint and we have decided it will be our go-to spot when we are in the area, there is still a lot of menu items to try!
