I absolutely love coming here--it's one of my favorite spots to meet friends, catch a football game, and just relax. The food is always delicious, and the service is consistently top-notch. This is a decent enough place, but they put a "service" charge on your bill and explain that it's for the fee that credit card co's charge. But I paid cash. And they said it didn't matter either way, I'd still have to pay the credit card service fee. This seems VERY dishonest. Why not go ahead and charge me for a couple of hot wings that I didn't order/recieve, because "yeah, we put that on everyone's bill whether they ordered it or not." I won't be back. read more

Jefferson Street (Pub) (we always called it Jefferson's) is the place you go when,well...you feel the need to make bad choices. It's been around a few decades y'all. I loved it when my high school buddy's band would play there! So yeah, they have live music. I recall their beer is cheap, seating upstairs, they have TVs and the interior is loud. I think they have or at least had pool tables. It's adjacent to the main parking garage that's been there forever and an easy walk through gravel to get to the door. They've always had bouncers and sometimes charge a cover charge. The patrons range from just-turned-21s to middle aged folks and I don't have any really fantastic food and dining memories at Jefferson's. It's a bar...a bar that serves food. The bars are long and we're always well staffed with guys. Not the friendliest and not the most insidious. Just a guy willing to pour a draft beer or pitcher. No small talk here or relationship building, or "how are you nice to see you again." It's self serve, with food runners dropping off the eats at your table never to be seen again. You stand in line food truck stuke to order your drinks If we ate there, the numerous times we went, it would have been to get some calories in the belly before the brewskis! Think greasy french fries and yeah be sure shake your groove thing on the tiny dance floor in front of the stage. Jefferson's sort of oddly shares an entrance way to an adjacent bar just to the east of Jefferson's. Crap I cannot recall the adjacent bar's name at the moment. So, if you want a borderline dive bar, this would be a good inexpensive happy hour bar stop for beers/pitchers at stop 1 of a downtown pub crawl. Set your expectations low and they will be met. read more

I went with my father here last night since they had live music and sports on, and it was fun at first considering he had never been before (from out of town). The waitress was nice and prompt but unfortunately the crowd this place attracts is horrible. After a while, the group of individuals (ages probably 21-22) beside us got rowdy and the guys started bumping and elbowing my dad at our table while they talked. It's one thing to not be aware of your surroundings since you are having fun, but they knew they were doing this as one of the guys told his buddy to stop and they purposely didn't. Then, the girls at their table started throwing trash around the bar, hitting other tables and people with it as well. The final straw was when I was hit directly in the head by a pair of glasses and we finally decided to leave because it was getting ridiculous. You could tell the waitresses knew them, as they routinely stopped to talk and hang with them. Upon leaving, we spoke with a worker to complain and he told us a majority of the people in there were regulars and that this was common behavior, as the bar never does anything to stop them. They even recommended us a different place to go to. I used to love going here but I'm not hanging around rude and careless children without common sense. I was embarrassed to have brought my dad here, as it ruined his night, and will be taking my service elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately will not be returning as they refused to turn on the volume for the Alabama football game they advertised. The few people that were there wanted to see the game but we were told the boss said no volume. So we were all forced to watch a silent game while dated pitiful disco music was blaring. Went in and ordered food and beverage and when game started they continued to blare outdated disco music through the sound system (Kool and The Gang - which no one was enjoying) if I recall. When I very respectfully asked the manager to turn on the sound for the game he said his boss directed him not to. Jefferson Street Pub should not advertise / promote themselves as a spot to enjoy a University of Alabama game, and then refuse to play the sound of the game Jefferson Street Pub used to draw customers in / promote / advertise. Pure bait and switch. I paid my bill, tipped my waitstaff well, and walked out of Jefferson Street Pub feeling very tricked by them, and will not return. read more

A pretty good pub / somewhat divey bar for cheap drinks and drink specials, open mic, karaoke and general bar food (think wings). JSP is worth venturing to with friends mostly for the super casual atmosphere and clientele, although I wouldn't say to take coworkers or your in-laws there. The drink specials for the most part can't be beat - they were doing $0.50 draft beers for a while, on Wednesday, although I'm not sure if that still holds. They also have several TVs and a huge projector to watch the game, so definitely a good venue on Saturdays and Sundays. I haven't had anything other than the wings on their menu, which was a special the times I've been there. They were good, not great, but worth the special deal they had going on. Will I be going back? Sure, it's a great bargain and fun environment. They're associated with Sammy T's so you do get some spillover from those party-centric customers, but all in all it's a great time. read more

Overall, a great place to eat. Wings are top notch, onion rings are perfect, burgers are great. Chose this to be my favorite hangout... until. One bartender ruined it all here. A girl, maybe 30 years old. She had the most smug arrogant attitude for a server I've ever encountered. She obviously hates her job and it shows. She is non attentive and has a very smartelek mouth on her. After numerous trips, The other bartenders were great) and many $40 tips, she broke the camel's back. We stayed away for a year. We went last night and unfortunately, she is still there. If the owner reads these, I hope he is willing to address her bad attitude. Until then, as good as the food is, this place is off the menu. After our initial stop at Humphrey's we needed to find something less a) crowded and b) full of youngsters. So we walked over to this place. Not too shabby. When you walk in they will check ID and ask if you are going to the pub or the club. Oh hell, there's a dance club in a separate area. $3 cover and $3 wells....sounds like the kind of place I would definitely go if I felt like feeling old and getting my groove on. As for the Pub area, it was nice in there. They have all kinds of tables and then around the top there's a balcony area. There was a one man show playing covers on guitar up front. It got pretty damn loud as the night went on though. Not sure but they must have some good amps. We snagged a table no problem and then hung out and talked. They have fancy cocktail creations as well as just a full bar and also beer. So basically anything you want. It gets packed the later it gets so get there early for a table if you want one. Friendly people overall - we managed to make some friends so that was fun. Waitress was friendly and had tons of drink recommendations if you were leaning in that direction. I'm always leaning in that direction. I'd say if I lived in Huntsville I would definitely find myself at this place pretty frequently. read more

I was in town for a trade show this weekend and decided to go grab some beers at Jefferson's because of the great atmosphere. We have been to Jeffersons numerous times and like the atmosphere and live music. We ordered a tower of beer and were enjoying ourselves when we noticed the tap on the beer tower had mold growing in it. We instantly started gagging! I took the tower to the bar manager and showed him the mold. He offered some more beer or shots to make up for their disgusting and lazy cleaning habits. I refused and requested money back instead and he said it wasn't possible because we had already drank over half of the product. We left and next day two of my employees sick and rest of us were feeling pretty queazy. Think twice before going here and if you do make sure they are doing their job of keeping your health and safety first. If Jefferson's neglected something so easy to clean as this, then there is is no telling what else is lurking in this dive bar waiting for unknowing patrons. Beware! read more

Came here for OSU vs Bama and had a great time. Smoking/vaping is allowed inside so be prepared for that. It wasn't an issue for anyone in our group though. Our waiter was Charity and she was fantastic. All smiles and very quick! We never had to wait for our buckets of beer. My wings were really good too. I recommend the dry rub they have, its sweet with a brown sugar taste. Their competition hot sauce could have been hotter though. Everything was priced about right. The only hiccups in my visit was with my friends chili dog. It came out cold, twice. And the men's bathroom does need work as another reviewer said. Will be back. read more

Place is so racist that it's comical. It's a running joke for black people to go there dressed completely appropriately and groomed with precision just to get turned away. When I am downtown, I get the aire of one or two kinds of characteristics of people. On the one hand, there is the 'country rich' kind of people that range from the 'hipster' to the 'snobbish'. And then there is the 'country poor'. The working man's man (and woman). I don't fit into either of those categories (as I am a transplant), so I am truly an outsider. A friend of mine tells me about clubs and bars around Huntsville and then we go to visit. I have a lot of them under my belt now (no judgement, move along...lol), so I know what I like in a place and what I don't. So he says that he wants to meet me at Jefferson St Pub, and I think that he is joking with me (his last name is Jefferson)...until I find it on my phone. Tucked behind Sammy T's (kind of), I walk through the entrance and down the hallway and I feel that I am in a club like at home (I am from Detroit). I climb the stairs and walk over to the large bar and the bartender, Chris turns and asks, "Hey Brother, how can I help you?". A feeling of comfort came over my brain as i set and looked over the large bar. I only wanted wine at the time (*NOTE Sooo...I am sort of a wine minimalist. I love Canyon Row Merlot. Love it. I can only usually find it online or at the Monaco. OK, back to the review), so I asked if they have merlot. He says yes and what kind did I want. I asked, "Do you have Canyon Row?" He says yes and my heart flutters. He laughs at me, as apparently I have that 'Happy Joy" look plastered on my gob. he brings the bottle and a glass, and I look at him perplexed. He said I will explain later. I was ok with that I asked for a menu and ordered the pork sliders and you know what? Heaven...or what I think Heaven would be if it were cooked and put into little buns for my enjoyment. My friend gets there and Chris greets him and gives him a glass. we sit and laugh and talk to him and the other patrons about sports, and huntsville politics, and houses and just everything. When my bill arrives, I see that this is a very moderately priced place, especially after a bottle of wine and good food. It was a truly great experience. Since that first day, I go every Thursday to laugh and have fun with my now friends at the Pub. If you want a place that serves great food and drink, hang out with people who are all ages, ethnicities, and genders just talking and laughing after work, this is the place to go. Last night was my first time at Jefferson St. Pub. It's kind of hidden between a building and parking deck and behind a small parking lot, so you better know where you're going or have someone with you that's been there before. My overall opinion was that it was ok, but it doesn't stand out much among the other bars in Huntsville. On Wednesdays they have dueling pianos playing (and they take most any request that they know how to play) and they have $1 hurricanes. These are a little sugary so you probably won't be able to drink too many, but it is a good deal! There's obviously a bar you can order at, but they also have waitresses circling and taking orders at the tables, which I always like instead of trying to stealth-mode my way up to the bar. Our waitress was really sweet and easy to find when we needed to order more. They have an open upstairs that looks over the downstairs area, so the whole bar has a really open feel, instead of being crowded or smokey like some places. For sports lovers they have at least 4 or 5 regular-sized flat screens behind the bar and a projection screen on the opposite side that takes up the entire wall. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE A PERSON OF COLOR. I was visiting Huntsville from NYC because of a sudden death in the family. After the funeral, my cousins, friends, and I decided to hang out and reconnect at Jefferson Street Pub. I made the mistake to leave my ID at home (totally a mistake that was on me!). I explained this to the manager, and he would not let me stay. Totally understandable. But I also explained how I didnt want to stand out in the rain, so I told him I'd quietly sit as far from the bar as possible for just a minute while my friends and family briefly decided our next move. The manager yells at me "Get our or I'll pull that stool from under you!" Without even having a second to process what he said, he pulled the stool from under me and I was on the ground! You don't do that to a woman or any guest for that matter. There were other ways he could've professionally handled the situation. Mind you, myself and the group I was with is Black and Hispanic and the manager was a white man. As I look at the reviews, it seems like racism is an issue at the establishment. But in my case, it was a racist assault by the manager. I felt so unsafe and scared when he did this to me, and it ruined my trip to Alabama. Band was great atmosphere was incredible but the mold lurking in the beer was sickening. I was sick for several days after consuming the beer. Tried to redeem a $20 food Groupon which the server and then the manager Chris would not honor...first it had to be on my phone (I had it printed), secondly, even though it stated that it was for food, NOPE, could not honor it because some of the food was on special that night....every reason in the book to NOT honor the Groupon. And it went on and on. Nope, they would not honor it. When we got upset, Chris threatened to call Security....what??? Okay, this hard to find pub was very, very loud, without any music...the six of us could hardly hear each other. Service was marginal, slow. Wings and fish tacos were good, even though we couldn't see our food. Manager was very rude when we challenged him in order to use a Groupon...okay where is the customer service here? We will NEVER go here again! As I sit here trying to find the right words to express my thoughts I can't help but to feel anger and frustration , so excuse me while I begin to express the raw emotions that I feel. I reflect to the year of 2009, my co-workers decided it would be a great idea to go celebrate downtown and I happily obliged to partake. The setting was agreed to meet and visit the establishment of Sammy T's which immediately I felt apprehensive about going but against my better judgement I went along with the idea. Full of joy we exited our vehicles and walked up to the establishment only to be reminded of the world we live in. Immediately after my coworkers were allowed in I was greeted with a level of rejection.., "Sir you can't enter because your picture doesn't match your drivers license" Excuse me I replied he repeated the same and denied my entry into the establishment. Angrily and hurt I walked off, trying to make sense of what took place.. February 2, 2020 my wife, and her co workers decide to have a nightcap and do business with Jefferson Street Pub. As we begin to walk to the entrance I'm immediately reminded of the issue never discussed that we deal with every day. I see the bouncer (Mike who wouldn't give me his last name) pointing at me, which seemed odd. I walk up and he says "You won't be able to come in because of what you are wearing". Without a single word I turned around and walked off as everyone stood in confusion wondering what the reason is. As I walked off I looked at others, gazing at their attire and felt an immediate frustration. What separated the ensembles they chose to wear from mine? I told my wife " I apologize but I need for Mike to explain to me what is wrong with my attire" We walk back to the front and very calmly and ask for an explanation. I was welcomed with the idea that my outfit was not appropriate because my jeans were distressed, all the while we witnessed several individuals walking past us with even worse attire then what I had on. It was never about the attire and in 2009 it was not about my drivers license. I don't need to even say what it's about because hopefully you should be able to recognize it. I apologize for the long review but it is 2020, the fact that we are still dealing with these issues is truly disgusting. I refuse to ever support not only this establishment but anything else downtown. Maybe my opinion falls on deaf ears, but I hope that I can spark the change that makes you look in the mirror and ask how we can continue to support this type of behavior. read more

In town for a few weeks and this place was recommended by a local bartender. It is hidden so parking on street or in garage is a must. Went in on a Wed and a Thursday and the crowds were pretty mature. Wed is Karaoke and Thur was chill. There is a nightclub next door but I didn't check it. Drinks were well priced and smoke was minimal. Mens bathroom however is in need of repair....I dont know if it is on purpose but the broken door doesn't match the cleanliness of JSP. People are generally friendly and no issues with the staff. I even ordered and ate one of the burgers which was pretty good for bar food. read more

This is one of my go to bars if I'm just trying to have a good time on the weekends, ya feel me?! I've never tried the food though, but the menu is your typical bar food menu. Looks good, smells good. I don't really mind the smoking inside thing when it isn't packed, but when it is packed, it's a huge pain to not only avoid the ridiculous amount of people but also the amount of cigs hanging out. I have come home with burn holes in my clothes and I'm not even a smoker :( but oh well. The service is always really great, however I feel like my drinks are pretty weak a lot of the time. I went last night and it was the worst experience of my life. The bouncer named Quinton is the most racist person you will meet. He told me to take off my religious head scarf because no caps were allowed. When I got in, I saw ten people with baseball caps on and I decided to where my scarf. Quinton saw me wearing the scarf and came to me and told me that I would have to leave if I did not take the "cap" off. I told him that people were wearing baseball caps in the bar and he did not seem to care. We were forced to leave because I did not want to take my scarf off. I will never go there again. read more
