I really wanted the good reviews to be true and give me a relief I have a good trustworthy CPA for the rest of my life. However, my experience was really bad. First of all, he was late for our appointment. He apologized and I was cool with it. Then he made a lot of bad comments about my country of Origin. I asked him to stop talking about it. He apologized and stopped. But he kept talking about all other random stuff that didn't have anything to do with taxes like what is my laptop model, if my green card lawyer was good, stories from his family in his country Pakistan and so on. When paying for the session he considered start to finish, so technically I paid for the time he took to tell his personal stories!

I knew I didn't understand landlord accounting laws very well although I have an old accounting clerk certificate. Cameron Irtifa completed our tax forms for the past couple of years. I filled out our tax forms on TurboTax first to compare to his results. He has saved us thousands of dollars each year. We can't afford to have me fill out our tax forms any more. His fees are very reasonable. We paid four times as much for a CPA in Eugene to fill out our tax forms years ago. But this Eugene CPA had an office next to a golf course. Mr. Irtifa's office in Beaverton is very unassuming. I do chit-chat with Mr. Irtifa as we go through my tax information. He has referred me to several local professionals, like lawyers, that solved other problems I was working on. By chatting with other clients I know he hears who is good and who is not. I appreciate being able to pick his brain for advice as we go through my tax information. He has taken the time mid-year to give us investment advice when we asked. I have also given him advice on topics I feel passionate about, which he accepted graciously. If you want a very formal CPA, you should go to someone else. Mr. Irtifa worked for the IRS for a number of years so I trust him when he advises me on how to answer an ambiguous tax question. Mr. Irtifa can get behind on his appointments during the day. I just remind myself that when it is my turn he will take as long as I need to get my tax forms filled out correctly and my questions answered. I am glad we found him.

I did not want to drive up to Vancouver. So we did everything by phone/zoom & electronically. Here is his process: I called Paul at a designated time, and we chatted for a bit. He then asked me some questions, and directed me to his online platform. Paul's tax prep "organizer" is awesome. Many of the same questions from our phone call were reiterated and then documentation for my answers requested immediately below. It made the process easy to understand and I could do it in bite-sized chunks. There is also a spot just to the right where you can see the full array of everything you've loaded so you don't have to scroll and peck to discover if you remembered to load a particular document. After I finished, I notified him and he came back with information that enabled me to save more on my return. Actually, that one piece of info ended up saving me a lot. Our wrap up zoom conversation was instructive and pleasant. Paul has the heart of a teacher, and he took me through the process step by step so I could see how all the calculations panned out. He also gave me information that will help for next year. I totally loved working with him and will absolutely recommend him to my friends.
