So disappointed. Darin has handled my taxes for years, and I've always trusted his work. I recently fell behind and called to schedule an appointment to get caught up. When I spoke with Pam, the office manager, I was told they would not be able to help me because extensions had been filed and I never made an appointment to complete the returns. That was confusing and frustrating - the reason I was calling was to make the appointment and move forward. As a long-time client reaching out to correct the situation, I expected a bit more flexibility or at least a solution-oriented response. Went to Cornerstone for the first time. The preparer - Mr Delplanche - was a little high-strung & took offense when I asked him questions about the right tax forms to use. Ok so I'm a little ignorant; so what? Then he said it would take half an hour for him to finish up; no problem. But when I asked if I could wait in the front area in which there were a few chairs he said he would prefer if I didn't because he wanted any new clients walking in to think it was a professional place, one presumably that didn't have persons like me hanging around. Was refused tax filing services after I was given the green light whilst holding the transfer documents the owner gave me to sign in hand. After looking over my documents and saying my name out loud-- the owner suddenly was refusing my tax filing, insisting that they were "too busy". When I questioned why he gave me the transfer documents and why the change in attitude-- I was stone walled with the lie "We are too busy. We can't file your taxes this year." Left with no other options, I left. My family has filed with cornerstone for years, and this was my second attempt at filing with them. I have no complicated deductions, all of my income comes from my government job. After the bizarre refusal to service my taxes, the owner had an employee call my family to repeat the lie that they're "too busy". Last year I filed a month later and was told that my taxes would be filed under an extension. No issues last year. But all of a sudden theres some type of bias against my family? Not sure where that came from. But now I'll need to look to file elsewhere. If you are looking for a tax filing service, I warn you to go elsewhere. As evident by my experience, the owner of Cornerstone tax is dishonest, disloyal and disdainful to his clients. Horrible service. Took way longer than they said to get taxes done. This year I asked for a breakdown sheet. She asked me why I wasn't using them this year. I told her I was using someone else and and she hung up on me. I went in person asked for paperwork. I was ignored and told she would mail it to me. I have never experienced such bad service before. So unprofessional. Horrible communication skills. BE CAREFUL USING THEM. They may file your taxes wrong and then blame you for it. They filed our 2019 taxes wrong. They entered in the wrong amount for our rental property. And then blamed us for it because it wasn't written in their handwriting?? Why would we give you an amount that is not the correct amount for our rental property? Mind you they've been doing our taxes since Sandy the original owner was there. Our taxes had not changed in years. And some reason that year they decided to change the dollar amount on our rental. NEVER GOING BACK. Don't waste hour money. Go somewhere else. read more

We have used this tax service since 1996. Under the previous owner, Sandi Martes, it was outstanding. The business was sold in about 2011 to Darrin Delplanche, CPA. Since then, the quality is still pretty good, though not quite as outstanding as with Sandi. Still, we figure this service has saved us hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the last 18 years, and certainly makes tax time less stressful. I would recommend them. Keys are: Get your materials to them early (Feb) and fill out their tax organizer, which will help them and you. read more

Sandi Martes did our taxes for 20 years and she was terrific! Darrin Delplance has done our taxes for the last 3 years and although our taxes got done, I would never use him again. We were audited by the IRS over college credits and given 30 days to respond. We asked for his help and were told to just send in the receipts (which were in the original return.) We called the IRS on our own and they said our tax preparer had made a mistake. We called Darrin repeatedly, probably six times during that 30 day period, and got no response! The day before the response was due we left a message that we would call the CPA Board of Oregon if we did not get a return phone call. He called us back and e-mailed us a response for the IRS stating that the IRS was incorrect. I again called the IRS and was told to send in all receipts from all three of our students for all the years they were in college. I faxed that to the IRS and it was resolved. Being audited is a scary experience and Darrin not only did not help, he made the experience worse. read more

I don't believe I would go back there even if they paid. They don't return calls or emails. It took them 6 months to file my taxes and then it cost me in IRS fines and State fines Because they told me "Oh just send $400 to the IRS and $400 to Oregon dept. of Treasury and you should be fine" I guess the operative word was FINE. read more

I used Cornerstone Tax Service for 12 years and loved it. When the owner decided to retire and sell it to the new owner, I decided to give the new guy a try. He did my taxes for two years and this year I decided to go somewhere else. I felt I had been overcharged and I did not like his communication style. Oh my! When I called and asked for copies of my depreciation schedules (not included in my paperwork from the previous year) I was not treated well at all. I had to call three time because the receptionist didn't know if she could give those to me. Finally, when I called the third time she told me the owner wanted to speak to me. He was very rude. He questioned me about my decision to go somewhere else and he was not happy with my answers. When I finally said that I did not think I needed to defend my decision to use a different service and asked him to mail me my schedules, he said, "They're in the mail." and hung up on me!
