I was very pleased when Dr. Dong offered me some cosmetic procedures that I had previously asked other dentists about but had blown me off saying it was nothing to worry about. He takes his time to explain everything to you but it did not feel like an upsell, but rather offering a way to help. It's not just the basics here which is great! It's nice that this office offers both dental and orthodontics, especially for families with kiddos. Definitely give them a try!

In March, I made an appointment for May 28th as a first time client. Shortly after scheduling, I received a text asking if I'd be interested in an opening sooner to which I replied yes. I provided my availability and stated I was flexible and could come most afternoons. I received a reply shortly after asking if I'd like to come the next day for a morning appt. Um no. I had already clearly stated I could do AFTERNOONS. Two weeks later I get a call and then a text asking if I'd like to be added to the "ASAP list". I thought I already was?! I was contacted AGAIN a few days later asking about my availability. How many times do I have to spell out I can come in the afternoons?! By this point, they're too much and I ask that they take me off the list. It's too much communication. May 27th comes along and I realize I've received no communication about my appointment on the 28th. I text them to find out they canceled my appointment. I NEVER told them to cancel my appointment. I simply didn't want to be constantly bothered about their "ASAP list". It's really unacceptable that they canceled an appointment I waited almost 3 months for. I was really hoping to have a good dentist 5 minutes from my house but no such luck. I was not interested in rescheduling as I completely lost trust in this office.

But for my two year-old son, it was his first time ever seeing a dental chair. Doctor Scholer's office is a friendly kind loving place where our family has gone for dental care for well over 10 years. Today we had the opportunity to bring our two year-old so that he could get acclimated to the experience and I have to say, our two-year-old does not warm up to people very quickly. He was friends with everyone in Doctor Scholer's office from the minute we walked in the door! From our favorite reception peeps to our favorite dental hygienist (she sees our whole family even granny) to Doctor Scholer himself. Our son was saying hi and given high-fives and just enjoying his whole time at the dentist today! AMAZING! We plan on taking him to a few more appointments to acclimate him to the experience, but I'm sure after today it will be a lot easier to get a two year-old to brush his teeth. -that toy chest and red toothbrush sealed the deal! Extremely unpleasant experience…read more Positives: Helpful staff, friendly disposition, got me in quickly. Negatives: DDS tried to gaslight me by suggesting that I'm a difficult patient because I have a sensitive mouth during the e-ray process. The receptionist offered me the "rufi" option, which I initially declined because she stated it was optional (plus an extra $40 out of pocket.) Unfortunately, once DDS started the cleaning he was so heavy handed that I had to stop him and opt in for the Halcion aka "rufi". After only cleaning my bottom teeth, DDS said he was done and offered me a couple cups of apple juice to sober me up. DDS saw me looking really out of it while sitting in my car loading my gps for the 10 minute ride home. He offered me more time to sit in the waiting room to sober up but I declined because I just wanted to get out of there and go home. I was SO sick on my 10 minute ride home due to the "rufi" that I lost control of my bowels and BLEW UP in my car! =( Fortunately, I had a blanket in the backseat I was able to wrap myself in before the explosion, rendering the clean up process manageable. After cleaning myself up, I passd out for over 5 hours because I was completely non-functional. When I came to, I recalled my awful experience and cancelled the appointment for the following day. Can you believe that after ALL that trauma, he only cleaned the bottom half of my teeth!?! My mind is still blown that he wanted to rufi me all over again the next day to do a simple cleaning! To make things worse I tried to see another Dentist 2 1/2 weeks later to finish my cleaning, only to find out this DDS billed for a complete cleaning so my next appointment was not covered!! This was such a terrible experience I just had to share it in its entirety. I understand I may be an outlier but this was one of the worst dental experiences I've had in my 55 years of life. Finally, I have historically had a very high tolerance for pain and have never required sedation or pain killers for a dental cleaning.

If you're someone who has dental anxiety, or you've put off going to the dentist for years because…read moreyou're scared, embarrassed, or worried about being judged, this review is for you. I had excellent dental care growing up until I was about 14, but I also had a traumatic experience as a child when I flipped over my bike, knocked several teeth out, and had to be strapped into a chair while a dentist worked on them. That experience stayed with me. After my parents divorced, going to the dentist stopped being a priority, and despite brushing my teeth every day, I avoided dental visits for years. Eventually, I started having tooth pain and assumed I had one bad tooth. It turned out I needed two root canals and multiple fillings. To say I was terrified would be an understatement. One of the biggest fears about returning to the dentist after a long time is the feeling that you'll be judged. Dr. French completely erased that fear. She has been nothing but kind, compassionate, and genuinely caring from day one. She's the type of person who instantly makes you feel comfortable, and honestly, she's just an incredibly cool person. The hygienists and the rest of the staff are just as wonderful. Every single person in the office is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel like they genuinely care about you. The office itself is beautiful and has such a calming atmosphere. Then there's the fear of pain. I can honestly say I experienced virtually none. Dr. French referred me to Dr. Baines at San Jose Endodontics for my root canals, and I couldn't have asked for a better referral. Both root canals were completely painless. They prescribed ibuprofen afterward, and I never even needed it. Back at Willow Glen Dental, I was also genuinely impressed by how much they've invested in technology. It's not just a beautiful office--it feels like they've made a real commitment to giving patients the best experience possible. After my root canals, they digitally scanned my teeth, designed my crowns, and milled them right there in the office. I took about an hour to an hour-and-a-half break, came back, and had both permanent crowns placed that same day. No temporary crowns. No waiting weeks. As someone who hadn't been to the dentist in years, I had no idea dentistry had come this far, and it made the entire process incredibly convenient. The same was true for my fillings and every other procedure I've had. Throughout every appointment, the team made sure I was comfortable, answered every question, and never rushed me. Yesterday I finished the restorative portion of my treatment plan after about a year and a half of care. Dr. French joked, "Last round!" and then laughed that I was probably tired of seeing them. I surprised myself with my response: "Honestly... I used to have really bad dental anxiety, and now I don't." And I truly meant it. That's one of the greatest gifts this office has given me. They didn't just fix my teeth--they completely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. I never thought I'd be someone who could walk into a dental appointment feeling relaxed, but that's exactly how I feel now. I've already recommended Willow Glen Dental and Dr. French to several friends, and I'll continue recommending them to anyone who asks. (Just don't book Dr. French too solid--I still need my appointments! ) As long as I live in the Bay Area, this is where I'll be coming for my dental care. Dr. French is nothing short of amazing. I don't know what kind of magic she works, but she's incredible. Thank you, Dr. French, Dr. Baines, and the entire Willow Glen Dental team for giving me back not only my smile, but my confidence and peace of mind. 10/10. I couldn't recommend them more highly.
