If you're someone who has dental anxiety, or you've put off going to the dentist for years because you're scared, embarrassed, or worried about being judged, this review is for you. I had excellent dental care growing up until I was about 14, but I also had a traumatic experience as a child when I flipped over my bike, knocked several teeth out, and had to be strapped into a chair while a dentist worked on them. That experience stayed with me. After my parents divorced, going to the dentist stopped being a priority, and despite brushing my teeth every day, I avoided dental visits for years. Eventually, I started having tooth pain and assumed I had one bad tooth. It turned out I needed two root canals and multiple fillings. To say I was terrified would be an understatement. One of the biggest fears about returning to the dentist after a long time is the feeling that you'll be judged. Dr. French completely erased that fear. She has been nothing but kind, compassionate, and genuinely caring from day one. She's the type of person who instantly makes you feel comfortable, and honestly, she's just an incredibly cool person. The hygienists and the rest of the staff are just as wonderful. Every single person in the office is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel like they genuinely care about you. The office itself is beautiful and has such a calming atmosphere. Then there's the fear of pain. I can honestly say I experienced virtually none. Dr. French referred me to Dr. Baines at San Jose Endodontics for my root canals, and I couldn't have asked for a better referral. Both root canals were completely painless. They prescribed ibuprofen afterward, and I never even needed it. Back at Willow Glen Dental, I was also genuinely impressed by how much they've invested in technology. It's not just a beautiful office--it feels like they've made a real commitment to giving patients the best experience possible. After my root canals, they digitally scanned my teeth, designed my crowns, and milled them right there in the office. I took about an hour to an hour-and-a-half break, came back, and had both permanent crowns placed that same day. No temporary crowns. No waiting weeks. As someone who hadn't been to the dentist in years, I had no idea dentistry had come this far, and it made the entire process incredibly convenient. The same was true for my fillings and every other procedure I've had. Throughout every appointment, the team made sure I was comfortable, answered every question, and never rushed me. Yesterday I finished the restorative portion of my treatment plan after about a year and a half of care. Dr. French joked, "Last round!" and then laughed that I was probably tired of seeing them. I surprised myself with my response: "Honestly... I used to have really bad dental anxiety, and now I don't." And I truly meant it. That's one of the greatest gifts this office has given me. They didn't just fix my teeth--they completely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. I never thought I'd be someone who could walk into a dental appointment feeling relaxed, but that's exactly how I feel now. I've already recommended Willow Glen Dental and Dr. French to several friends, and I'll continue recommending them to anyone who asks. (Just don't book Dr. French too solid--I still need my appointments! ) As long as I live in the Bay Area, this is where I'll be coming for my dental care. Dr. French is nothing short of amazing. I don't know what kind of magic she works, but she's incredible. This is my review of my recent dental checkup. The front office staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, and checked me in right away. I waited no more than five minutes before being called in by the dental hygienist. She struck up great conversation and made me feel very comfortable as she cleaned my teeth. Dr. French came talk to me about a couple of issues I had and provided very reasonable recommendations and paths forward for each. Very friendly dentist! Update in 2026 (7 years later) - I am still incredibly happy with these people as my dental group! They have never "upsold" me on anything I don't need. I have had several of their dentists work on my teeth and they ALWAYS have done an excellent job. And their new office is GORGEOUS!!! In Sep2021, I broke a tooth (my perio says he has a LOT of patients with broken teeth from what he calls "pandemic grinding") & they took me in immediately and put in a temp so I could wait until my benefits restarted in 2022 and my FSA refilled before I went to the Periodontist to get an implant. BUT just before Christmas the temp broke and it felt kinda painful. Again, they saw me immediately. I was super bummed because I thought it would mean I would have to get the implant in Dec22 not Jan23 & not have the benefit of my FSA BUT Dr Brian checked for infection (nope), etc... and was able to reinstalled the temp so I could wait the couple of weeks for the implant and didn't even charge me! I have a weird thing where if I hold anything anything is in my mouth in a certain way, like holding a pencil in my teeth or wearing a mouth guard (to keep from breaking anymore teeth!?!) I gag. The dentist worked with me for almost an hour grinding down the mouth guard until it fit perfectly, functioned as it was supposed AND didn't make me gag! That is a miracle to me since I have needed (obviously see broken tooth mentioned above) a mouth guard for years and have never been able to use one before!!! read more

Recently went in to have updated x-rays, molds, and a cleaning done. Even though I got there early, they were able to take me right in and prep me for my appointment. The most delightful thing about my visit was learning that molds can be taken now with a scanning tool. So no more biting into a tray with gooey stuff that might cause your gag reflex to trigger! They were thoughtful and took me through their findings and recommendations. They could have sold me on more treatments and other solutions though, because I want to try Invisalign, all other recommended services were paused as they would not make sense with the position of my teeth changing. I have not been to the dentist in over 25 years. My retainers were taken out when I was admitted to Valley Medical, so life was never the same after. It was a series of laziness, depression, and putting things on the back burner that got me here. I had a lot of trouble sleeping, I binged ate, and I pretty much stopped going to the gym. If you know me, I even went to the gym when I was sick. Anyway. I was tired of feeling low and I don't like how I feel and I don't like what I look like, so I started changing but not w/o a little help from my foster kittens. Because of them I no longer have trouble sleeping. It is because I wake up at 2:40 to clean and set their day up. I started running! Next is my dental hygiene, so I made the call and was glad I was able to be seen that Saturday. Office is bright, clean, modest, spacious, and staff (from front desk, assistants, dentist themselves) were professional, soft-spoken, listens to you, and I felt that they care about my oral hygiene. Surprisingly no cavities! Who the hell says they cannot wait for their deep cleaning?! Me! After so long, I cannot wait to get my teeth cleaned. My first appt. was about the overview exam and review of my x-rays. Everything was explained to me, I felt comfortable w/ how the information was being conveyed. Holy cow - what an experience!!! I literally just walked into the future and it was awesome!!!! Ok so first of all- so easy to get an appointment, lots of options and availability. Front desk staff super friendly and helpful. Then you go there- this place is FANCY!! This is exactly what a dentist office in the heart of the Silicon Valley should look like. They use tools I've never seen- and then they walk you step by step through what is going on with your teeth and your history and the game plan. I had Dr Brian- very thorough and helpful. After leaving Sunnyvale Dental Asthetics because they no longer accepted Delta I was referred to come here by my coworker a few years ago. They were located in an old building that clearly needed repairs but I stuck with them because the dentist, hygienists, and dental assistants were also so through, friendly, and caring. The office staff are also great! We'll fast forward and they built a whole brand new office. It is beautiful and modern! AND you still get the same great care. This dentist office is great! I have been going to Doctor Kong since I moved to the Bay Area. I had a horrible toothache coming from my right side that was progressively feeling worse by the day so I contacted their office to schedule an appointment on Wednesday. They originally put me on the schedule for next week which was their soonest availability but put me on their cancellation list. I received a call within less than an hour after hanging up with them that they could see me the following morning at 11!! I went into their office and Doctor Kong did an evaluation/x-ray on my right hand side of my mouth that the pain was radiating from and determined that I needed a crown due to a small cavity and crack in my tooth. He put the crown in on the same day and had me in and out of his office in record time! He is always very professional, personable, and thorough. Bonus **I asked my kids if they can tell which tooth has the crown and they couldn't tell! He did a great job making it blend in with my other teeth especially since it's towards the front side of my mouth. The dental hygienists and front staff there are always great too!! So my Dentist Doctor Harvey is on leave and I had to try a new dentist. Doctor Tam and she was MARVELOUS. Her Dental Assistant Nayely was also magnificent. I needed a crown and that meant some drilling and Novocain shot had to be done. The two were very professional and compassionate about the work. They took good care of me and made sure I was not in any discomfort or pain. I will miss Doctor Harvey a lot but having Doctor Tam take over gave me satisfaction as a patient and know that the care and help will continue at Willow Glen Dental. The crown the machine made was not fitting and Doctor Tam would not finish until the crown was fitting perfect. Most dentist offices have the oven type of machine that makes your crown in 1 hour, so you don't have to wear a TEMPORARY for weeks and come back. So, I waited it took a few hours to finish the job but when I left, I was able to chew again and not have any more pain with hot and cold liquids on my right side of my mouth. I look forward on having Doctor Tam fix my grill anytime I have any dental issues. Alejandra and Lupe and Sloan up at the front were also very helpful and professional in checking me in and explaining the billing insurance process. read more

I hate the dentist. But these folks are nice. Everything seems to be handled in house and the dentists are super gentle and regularly check in to make sure you're doing okay. The recommended treatment plan was honest and to the point, they really consider long term when making recommendations. I was looking for a new dental office in South Bay since I moved here. I decided to come to Willow Glen Dental for my annual cleaning and checkup. The staff was great, everyone was nice, and it was easy to set up the appointment. I didn't see Dr. Kong until after the cleaning, and it was for a brief 5 minutes to look at my teeth and gums. The main person helping me was the DA or the hygienist, I can't remember who. My issue with this office is that there wasn't enough clarity coming from the office. My insurance is Delta Dental, and I should have full coverage for my annual bwx, cleaning, and at the time, my PANO. While setting up my next cleaning, I asked if I had any copays or fees I needed to pay while I was still there. They told me I don't have any, as my insurance has 100% coverage. A few weeks later, I was told I had a bill of around $120 because my insurance didn't cover it all. I was confused and thought this was accidentally charged on my account because my insurance should be enough. I'm assuming this office is out of network, which is why their fees are higher than the costs my insurance can cover. If it were in network, the contract should've prorated the cost of everything to match my insurance. I called before setting up my appointment to see if the office accepts my insurance, and they did, but they failed to tell me about the potential fees I would be charged since my insurance covers 100% of a certain amount. Always ask for clarity with your insurance and the type of dental office they are before confirming your appointment. Other than this, my experience was good, but because of the miscommunication I received, it knocked out some stars for me. read more

I usually don't find dental visits pleasant, but this office operates at a different level of professionalism. From the moment I walked in, the front desk team (about 4 people) was welcoming and efficient. The facility is spotless, organized, and I appreciated the privacy between rooms--you don't have to listen to what's happening with the patient next door. What truly stood out was the staff's expertise and patience. I want to make a special emphasis on the Doctor's Assistant (I missed her name, but she was fantastic). She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and took her time without rushing any part of the process. When Dr. Nguyen came in, she immediately reviewed the high-quality X-rays and 3D images the assistant had taken and openly praised her for doing such a great job.
