Update: For calling out failure to protect staff and customers from Covid-19, I am getting personal messages from an angry Jeff's representative telling me not to trash restaurants during Covid. Well, if your people wore masks and slowed virus spread, we would not be in a situation of closing businesses or limiting operations. Common sense. It's a communicable disease with an easy fix. (Disclaimer) "My girlfriend's phone" The food is decent in the sense there's no other place in town. On their website here it says pets welcome. So we went for a walk and took her little dog. We ordered, then went inside due to the plethora amount of misquotes. I sat down and the owner came out and said "no dogs allowed, you have to put it outside." So we went outside and couldn't even finish our food. Due to mosquitoes. No people skills. Don't say Dogs welcome if their not. Or specify, no dogs inside. read more

Food was decent and price was right. Based on those two things alone, Jeff's would be 4 stars. My initial impression was that this is not a place I would go out of my way to go to, and not a place I would necessarily avoid either. However, everything is served in single-use packaging, which bothers me. I could have gotten over that, but that was not what bothered me the most. At the end of the meal, I brought my water bottle up to ask them to fill it. They told me they could not, but that they could give me water in a cup - a STYROFOAM cup. She did this quickly before I could tell her no. I asked if she could just dump the water in the water bottle so she can use the cup again, and she said no and that it was against health code. I'm not buying that excuse either - every other place does this so... Sorry but in this day and age, we can't afford businesses to lack environmental consciousness. If you looking for dried out overpriced burgers this is the place. Went here when it was Rick's and it was great. Tried Jeffs early on and tried to return the onion rings that were tasteless. He refused. Decided to try a second time after 10 years, it was worse. The owner is rude and doesn't know how to cook the burgers properly, maybe because they are so thin. Went in for diner with family. Owner refused to give water cup to us after we spent $67 on dinner. We were all almost ready to leave and ask for a water cup. One of the workers said "it's not me he doesn't let us do that". I ask to speak to the manager. He chuckled when I said I think it's against the law to refuse a water cup. He said 50 cents or nothing because those cups cost money. The food was mediocre, the tables were dirty, and there were flies in there. The poor girls looked scared of him. I'm not sure if anyone who raves about this place has ever eaten a good burger. The best thing here was the pineapple milkshake. The cheeseburgers were thin patties, with what appeared to be coleslaw for lettuce on them, the cheese was, well, I don't know what it was. The onion rings were good. The flies were over kill. I travel through Colusa every once in awhile and have been wanting to try this places for a couple years actually. Finally made the stop and it was totally worth it. Got a bacon cheeseburger combo and it was everything I thought it would be. Saw a suggestion to get extra special sauce on the burger and that was definitely the move. Your typical small town burger place with excellent burgers. Will be stopping EVERYTIME now. read more

Only reason they're getting a 3 is for the decent customer service. Food is over priced for the quality and taste food is a solid 2, burgers were a step above mediocre the fries were horrible tasted like they were reheated and most of them were warm. Jeff's Freezette is a local favorite for all your cravings. I love the signature burgers with onion, they remind me of a Frisch's Big Boy burger if anyone remembers those. I enjoy the deep fried mushrooms. Really nice soft serve ice cream, can't remember if they do the dip if you want but that's how I prefer mine "dipped" in chocolate shell. Ordered a hot dog for my kid - they told me it was deep fried, I didn't think it would be an issue, so said ok... well, apparently, "deep fried" at Jeff's means "burned and mostly black" :/ When I asked for a new hot dog, they said the hot dogs "always look like that." I mean look, I've fried food at home, if it turns black, you're doing it wrong... They did give us our money back for the hot dog, so that's something I guess? Except now the kid's still hungry and we've got to figure something else out. My burger was ok, fries were decent. Have a hankering for hot dog? They do them right here. Nicely charred and snaps when you take a bite. The French fries are nice and crispy just the accompaniment to the hot dog. This is an old time favorite of the town and we are so happy to see it still here. We will be back! read more

The chicken tenders were an 8/10 and on average the burger was 8/10 after asking 8 people. overall would definitely stop again. I was told 5-10 minutes for my food. It took 25 minutes. Order was not correct. No, none of the customers or employees are wearing masks or gloves. However, with it being a mostly outside establishment to eat, I feel like that's a personal choice. Food was ok. The girls working seemed to be enjoying themselves. Not friendly to the customers but one asked a favor of her coworker, told her "don't you roll your eyes at me" then playfully said "Ffff you" to her coworker friend. Every time we drive by here it's loaded with cutomer, it's always intrigued us yet we never stopped. Oh how we wish we would of done so sooner, hands down this place is a hidden gem!! It's great, has a wide variety of food to choose from. We each got a cheeseburger with everything one chocolate milkshake and an order of 4 nuggets. The chocolate milkshake sweet and thick, one of the best we have tried. The nuggets were golden brown tender on the inside and crunchy, just perfect. This is always my going back home stop leaving Chico cut-thru Colusa, hit Interstate 5 back to San Jose, been coming here for 20 years. They have the Best French Fries and Shakes, Malts and burger! Looking for a quick place for lunch? Then jeff's is your spot. I love old burger joints and saw this place when driving to colusa. So as we headed back home to Sacramento we stopped in. It was lunch time and this place was packed! There was a short line at the counter and almost every seat was taken. Must be that good! I ordered a cheese burger and fries and enjoyed every bite! The cheese burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion and a special sauce on a soft bun. The fries were seasoned perfectly. Another coworker got the onion rings (beer battered) and they were amazing! The service was fast and staff are definitely prepared to handle the lunch crowd. I really wanted to get a milkshake but since I devoured my food within minutes I just couldn't eat anymore. Used to come here as a kid with my dad who grew up in Colusa, decided fo take a drive for a fun walk down memory lane. Unfortunately, my experience was nothing like what I remember. The service was extremely subpar and it took over 30 minutes for 2 burgers and a corn dog. The lack of Covid-19 precautions were also a big turn off, no one was wearing gloves or masks. Of course the food was delicious which is the only reason why I'm giving 3 stars. My fries and cheeseburger were absolutely incredible! read more
