I was hoping for a juicy burger and a thick shake; I got thin pucks of meat and a soft-serve shake. The burgers weren't under- or over-cooked, and the shake flavor (mocha) tasted like I imagined it should, so it was an OK meal. Still, not a bad place to stop if you're driving through the area. Went there because of their REP. Got there at opening time, and tried to place an order. They said it would be a while, because they had just opened. Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought that when a business opened, that meant they were ready to do business: not put you at the head of the waiting line. Nice roadside burger joint with a friendly atmosphere. This place has great burgers, chicky sandies and EXCELLENT fries. They've also got other things, like corn dogs, fried burritos, hot dogs, chili dogs. I have had, at one time or another, just about everything on the menu. You simply can't go wrong. I stopped at Jeff's Freezette for a quick bite on the way from Portland to San Francisco after reading reviews by other Yelpers. What a great little slice of Americana! I got there just before dusk and ate at the tables outside. There appears to be a school/park across the street and can I just say that the town of Colusa, CA sure takes its peewee football seriously. Dozens of miniature cheerleaders and little tykes in shoulder pads tumbled out of minivans and raced by me for their after-game meals, including twins who rode by on matching pink Huffys with streamers. Freaking adorable. The food was everything small town shake shack food is supposed to be. The fries were hot (not greasy) as was the Jay-Bird sandwich, which was also tender with a good balance of fixins. Oh...and if anything about a blackberry milkshake sounds good to you, GET IT. I was torn because I thought there was a good chance I'd get some kind of fake blackberry flavored syrup. NO! There were seeds! It was amazing. In the end I was more than happy to drive the 8 miles from the highway to give my money to a real, honest-to-goodness, family-owned operation in exchange for real honest-to-goodness food. Good hamburgers and chicken sandwiches which are a great deal for the price. You can share a large French fry between 4 people easily. The ice cream cones are a treat as well. Pricier than the most fast food, but man, is it worth it! Jeff and his young crew are turning out great value and a surprisingly diverse menu. Real ice cream is used in their shakes, and their over-flowing bag of French Fries are crisp and crunchy and perfect. I'll look for excuses to eat here every time travel takes me through Colusa! We looked on the map and saw all the usual fast food places, and then also saw this place. We had no idea if it was any good but we drove over and decided to try it out. It's such a cute small little place and to our surprise, was AMAZING. My cheeseburger was so tender and juicy and not greasy at all. And my boyfriends chili burger was fantastic. And he's a stickler when it comes to chili. We did not realize that this was gonna be so filling and so we had ordered breaded zucchini and breaded mushrooms. they were soooo good! I have driven by here many times, I have some friends that go here and they said it was good. I was really disappointed. I ordered the cheese burger and onion rings and a chocolate shake. First of all the service at the order window was slow, they didnt have enough workers. When I got my meal, the burger was paper thin, probably 1/16 of a pound!!! You could barely see any meat on the bun.Plain and simple, this was terrible.I think it was a frozen chunk of ground chuck, as were the onion rings frozen too. The chocolate shake tasted like it was from McDonalds, YUKKKK. This is just my humble opinion, and I will not eat here again.
