Jekyll Market is the local grocery store. They have everything you would need if staying on Jekyll Island. Prices may be a little higher than the big stores because it's local. Staff is friendly and there's even a little restaurant inside where you can get food to go. Good atmosphere. Centrally located.

Such a Cool Place Lots of food, gifts, souvenirs, beer, wine, deli, Pepsi remix machine and sweets! Pretty much everything and anything you need or forgot to bring! A MUST VISIT! Only thing missing.... No iced coffee which we were hoping for.

Located in the heart of the shopping district of Jekyll Island, the market has virtually everything that you could want. There are lots of tourist souvenirs, a deli sandwich shop, ice cream, bakery items such as donuts, bagels, and danish. There is a beer stand that has micro brews on tap, and a barbecue stand. There are tons of food items of all types. Prices are reasonable and there are about 12 tables outside along the build. I had a cheese danish and it was very fresh and delicious. I also had a hot chocolate that was adequate, but not hot.

If you recall the old Jekyll market on Jekyll Island of about 10-years ago before the "big time" development leading to the new convention center and a series of new hotel-resorts, you'll find this new market to be a stunning, upscale replacement. Gone is the old building in the small strip mall that once was near the initial fork in the road near the entrance prior to the latest development. Now, a gleaming new market is part of a series of new buildings at the entrance near the roundabout just past the DQ as you enter the island. This market offers swag similar to that offered in the old store of the past -- Jekyll Island T-Shirts, Sea Turtle stuff, and more. But now, there's first rate pastries, sandwiches, a BBQ bar, large stocks of wine, and other upscale offerings of interest to residents and tourists alike. Take a look at the pix below to gain a sense of the array of products. It appears this new market is a welcome improvement given the range of visitors worldwide.

Lunch on Saturday early July family of 4. Really cool market with lots of souvenirs, apparel, grocery, and 1 BBQ restaurant in corner. We ordered the shrimp and some chicken entrees and Sat on one of many outdoor tables w/dog. Could have used a fan above as it was stagnant under breezeway. Note the market is busy and very tight in aisles. Great ice cream options. Food was good. Will return

This little market is so cool. They have a candy store, BBQ restaurant, souvenirs, and actual grocery items. The cute Sundae truffles caught my eye when I walked in and of course I had to get a couple. I also found habanero Bloody Mary mix and some souvenirs. I think it would be difficult to come here and not find something you like.

I love this place and am always amazed by how much they offer. From ice cream to chicken salad to on tap beer and a decent wine selection, you can find just about anything you need to satisfy your palate on vacation. And it's in a great location! The only criticism that I would give is that they have not abandoned using plastic straws and being on the coast in a turtle sanctuary, I would highly encourage the establishment to change over to paper straws.

Decent offerings. All the customers were wearing masks but none of the workers were and that made me feel very uncomfortable.

As others have mentioned, all these Pier Rd shops are touristy. I didn't spend long in any of them…read morebecause I have no need for extra stuff around my house. But I am always on the lookout for food staples I can take home for myself, and friends. The origin of the preserves here wasn't explained by the staff, nor any signs I saw (maybe on the website?), but it appears to be the kind of thing that local farm markets do near where I live, which is some local plant makes the preserves with local produce, and then the private stores get to slap their name on it. But I'm guessing/hoping it's still local to GA, and that was all I was after. I went for the peach-Vidalia jam, and some key lime hot sauce, figuring they'd be locally grown enough. I learned from the associate there that all Vidalia onions MUST be grown in Vidalia, GA in order to be called Vidalia onions. Despite working at a produce store in high school, I never knew that. I honestly thought the Vidalia branding was just the strain/type of onion, which could theoretically be grown anywhere. But no, like Rob Lowe informed us in Wayne's World (champagne must come from the Champagne region in France, otherwise it's just a sparkling wine), Vidalias must come from a specific region in Vidalia, GA in order to be REAL Vidalia onions. Learn something new every day! I also liked the gurgle pot fish pitchers they sold. Very colorful and festive. I was not told the origin of these pitchers, but when I got home, I saw a lot on ebay that were made in Bermuda, and apparently other Google searches claim that distinctive pitcher hails from Bermuda. Anyway, they have some neat stuff here, I hear samples are always available when we're not in the middle of a pandemic, so yum! And another useful tip: if you have a hankering for ice cream, my best advice is not to stop at the obvious Sweets Shoppe (with two Ps and an E) there on Pier Rd, but to head into the Commissary and grab novelty ice creams out of the freezer chest. They're $2 each, but compared to $4/scoop for grocery store quality at the Sweets Shoppe, I definitely got a better value on the Commissary's offerings for my ice-cream-aholic toddler. Like all of the shops on Pier Rd, the Commissary is also a historic building. Historically, it was the general store for workers on Jekyll, and I take that to mean servants who staffed the hotel and villas, back in the Gilded Age. Hopefully, they didn't get bilked as many a company store was known to do in that era. While all this info was available on the internet, and there are a few didactic panels throughout the Historic District, it would be more helpful if they had some kind of panel at every building, because really, every building has a story. If you take a tour from the Mosaic Museum, much more is probably explained, and I get it if they want to make money on that, to support the organization. But that said, I recommend scanning the website before heading to this area, so you have an idea what you're visiting.
