Drinking the SSI Tea and reading on side patio!

Super cute place! Tons of wine gadgets that I didn't even know I needed. They have a bar but all the "liquor" is wine based. I had the SSI tea and if I hadn't watch her make it I would have for sure told you there was hard liquor in it! They give you wine samples at the counter and are super helpful with making selections. Everyone that I came in contact with was extremely nice and welcoming!

Nice wine shop located in a mini shopping area. They have tons of knick knacks and wine. It's bigger then you expect from the outside. They offer mini sampling's and not tastings of the current flavors or specials which is helpful in making a selection. They have a cheese and sauce Spread in the back of the store with various crackers and pretzels to dip. I came on a weekday afternoon and was greeted and carded. I was given information about the products and company. Great customer service and despite the crowded inside of merchandise you can easily maneuver around the store. The prices vary. Some of the prices were a bit high where a wine ornament may cost $15.00.... the same price as a bottle of wine! I think they could offer tastings. That would be a great addition to the area that is missing. Overall try this spot if visiting. It's worth the stop plus you never know what you may find.

I was thrilled to find a wine shop on this sleepy little island. My happiness grew when, Angie the effervescent store keeper welcomed us with a complimentary wine tasting. (Angie is also a hostess at the Rooftop at Ocean Lodge!). FH( future Hubby) and I sampled about 6 wines. All the wines were delicious and unique and we ended up purchasing a mango moscato and a vanilla Pinot Grigio. Angie also educated us on the difference in a wine's taste with the use of an aerator and then let us taste. You can really taste a difference. The shop itself has all kinds of gifts and goodies including cork holders, dish towels, stemware, wine holders, serving ware & more. I found several items, including an actual wine called the B word which makes the perfect gift for a friend lol. There were also pin up theme items and even gifts for the golfer. If I'm ever so lucky to return to St Simon's you best believe I'll be restocking my wines from Wine Body & Soul.

Here's what our cousin received. Perfection!!!

So we made a second trip and weren't disappointed! The pretzel charcuterie board was absolutely fantastic! I loved everything about it. Especially the pretzel with the beer cheese. My husband had a pork chop sandwich and said it was delicious. You certainly get a lot of food for your money. Matt was a beast behind the bar. We were absolutely amazed at how quickly he was making multiple drinks and getting beer from the taps. He gets five stars alone! He was very personable and funny. Him and his sidekick Ryan ("Matt Ryan" LOL). Good vibes and a GREAT beer selection too!! I would definitely visit here again when in town. Highly recommend! Go early, parking can be a little difficult.

The business has a small parking lot it shares with other businesses, there is also a small gravel lot beside it that you can park at. If you go at a busy time, parking can be a chore. Upon arrival, the business was busy with both inside and outside seating filled but we were seated immediately at a table with both bench and chair seating that shared the bench with other tables. There is also bar seating and you can sit at a high top that borders the brew stations. It took a few minutes for us to meet our server who took our drink orders. Soda for her and non-alcoholic IPA for me. It took our server a while to bring our drinks and she forgot my IPA so she had to go find it. Once we had our beverages, we ordered our food. We started with the bacon wrapped blue cheese dates - the dates are served on tooth picks and looked great but the blue cheese overpowered the flavor of everything else. My wife ordered the special of the day (not on everyday menu) which was shrimp tacos with a black bean pineapple salsa and house made chips and fries. I opted for the house burger with cheddar cooked medium and chips and fries. It took a long time for our food to come out and after observing our server chatting it with a table of her friends who were behind us, I am pretty sure she may have forgot to order it in a timely manner. When our food came it was auctioned off to us by another team member (no server to be found). My wife's tacos were overstuffed and fell apart. I tried one and the fried shrimp tasted really fishy to me, not like fried shrimp is supposed to taste. My burger was okay but nothing special. Really wanted to like this place but it did not live up to our expectations.

Once inside, I loved the entire speakeasy vibe. The bartender was so sweet and took the time to thoroughly explain the drinks. One even came with an awesome fire presentation! Great atmosphere, great drinks, and such a fun experience. I would absolutely return!

I'll let the photos from other reviews do the talking, but if you enjoy a good backstory, ask about the history of the space. My mission for the night was simple: end the evening with a great gin cocktail. I started with the Donna Bella from the menu. It was well made, but I thought the bitters were a little too forward for my taste. Next, I asked for an off-menu modification: a Water Lily for Teresa, but made with Roku Gin. It was a strong contender--aromatic, balanced, and beautifully floral. If you're a fan of a French 75, this is a fun cocktail to explore. It's less citrus-forward and leans into a floral profile with a character that's hard to compare to anything else. For the final round, I went with bartender's choice. Mick asked a few questions about my flavor preferences and absolutely nailed it. They crafted a cocktail with Roku gin, snap pea cordial, aloe liqueur, egg white, lemon simple, mint, and citrus that was easily the highlight of the night. Fresh, layered, and memorable, it's a drink that deserves a permanent spot on the menu....Mission accomplished. If you're willing to wander beyond the barbershop business front and you consider yourself a spirit explorer, Volstead is well worth the visit. Go for a round...or two. If you're local, this could easily become your staple spot. For what it is, strong craft cocktail bar option. Bartenders choice is the way to go.

Strolling down Julian street (best street in the world because they named it after my son, obviously), my partner saw the wine tastings and immediately directed me that way, knowing I love wine lol. When we stepped inside, it was so much bigger than I expected. There were a bunch of daiquiri machines spinning, hundreds of wine bottles on display and happy people drinking. Heavenly. I made my way to the tasting counter and had the chance to do my tastings under the guidance of Noah. There were so many options to choose from, Noah was so helpful helping me find my choices and explaining the notes. He was one of the best parts of the experience, I was really impressed with his knowledge of the wine and his fantastic customer service. I decided to try the jalapeño wine, the Tybee island pearadise pine, velvet reserve, white Pinot noir, and the prohibition pomegranate. The pearadise pine and white pinot noir were both so light and lovely, perfect beach wines. The jalapeño wine was surprisingly fantastic. Noah said that many people were pleasantly surprised with it and I joined that number. It was sweet and smoky, not overwhelming at all. The prohibition pomegranate was my least favorite unfortunately. It was tooooo sweet but I'm one who prefers a dryer wine and Noah did give me a heads up that it was pretty sweet. I couldn't finish it. BUT. BUT. That Velvet Reserve? Babyyyy. My bff Noah said it was his favorite and a favorite of many, bold and high alcohol content. Let me tell you, he didn't lie one bit. It was so bold, rich in flavors, phew. I immediately asked him to grab a bottle for me. Such a great experience trying some local wines, so happy to head back to ATL with a new fave vino!
