Location, location, location. The best thing about here is that you are right on the beach and near the little shops. The lobby area was decorated well for Christmas, but is very dark and dreary. Reception is always welcoming you when you walk in and often times people were there to open the door for you. There is a restaurant (Ocean 80) right in the lobby and the swimming pool is right outside the restaurant. We didn't use either one, but they both looked nice. We had an ocean view room on the top floor and the view was awesome. The room was very nice, with a king size bed, a nice separate living area, a large shower with the best water pressure (opposed to the sinks which barely had any), and a balcony with comfortable chairs look right at the pool, the dunes and lastly the ocean. Super nice!!!!! The staff is always friendly, and the person that helped get our beach chairs and umbrella was extremely nice. My biggest issue is COVID related. No staff are wearing masks, or even having plexi glass in front of check in. People pile into elevators with you, when common sense tells you it's not a good idea. I am sick of wearing masks too, but also want to keep myself protected as well as not spread something I may have and am not even aware. So frustrating. read more

While we did not stay here, we stayed at the affiliated property (Jekyll Island Club) and so was able to access the beach and use the pool here. That is what this review is for. There is a shuttle service that takes you between the properties every half hour. It was a bit late for us, but not a big deal. We were the only ones on it on a Saturday afternoon. Once there, we showed our key at the front desk so we could get a card that would give us chair and umbrella service at the beach. The service was great and the beach was not too crowded. The chairs and umbrella were wood and felt upscale. We hit the pool on the way back in and that area was nice as well. It was a large pool, not quite as big as at the Jekyll Island Club itself, but was more modern and still had plenty of room, not as deep. The entire facility is more modern so if that is your style, I would consider staying here. read more

Went there with my wife (I am from Jacksonville Fl.with my daughter and son in law from NH) Good; great view of beach, overall very clean, very specious rooms (we both had separate adjoining rooms) not many people around to help with anything; we were there four nights; no one cleaned rooms, changed bedding/ made beds, took garbage out etc. for same price to give all this; due to Covid; for $600. A night? Hotel should have gave us a credit at least $100. night for both rooms for four nights due to no service. read more

Absolutely immaculate grounds. The staff are considerate and attentive without being overbearing. The Eighty Ocean restaurant is available day and night for cuisine or drinks. It's a wide and open concept with a terrific shuffleboard table on the far side of the wall. During the low season is December, the vibe was decidedly relaxed, with the pleasant drum of the patrons mixed with the glow of the outdoor firepit and the crashing of the surf just beyond the dunes. Add a partial moon and clearing skies and it makes for a very special night at a very special property on a very special island. read more

Things are different during a pandemic, yet the employees of this hotel made us feel we were in a safe environment. Every employee wore a face mask. There was hand sanitizer available everywhere, which was most appreciated. There were no housekeeping services, but if you put towels dishes or trash outside your room, they were quick to gather it and would replace whatever you needed. The rooms are great. We felt the builder took shortcuts which is disappointing, because otherwise this hotel is perfect. There is no soundproofing between floors and we heard everything from the floor above. The pitter-patter of running little feet is not a welcome sound at 7:00a on a Sunday. Thumbs up to the Eighty Ocean restaurant. Every meal/cocktail was great, service was fantastic. It put the food and service at the Jekyll Club Grand Dining Room to shame. It was only open on the weekends for breakfast and the food was mediocre at best and the service was horrible. The Eggs Benedict had tasteless congealed Hollandaise sauce on overcooked eggs and a side of cold potatoes. Took 20 minutes after being seated for coffee. Very disappointing. There's a lack of concern for the virus in GA. We found this when we went to St. Simon and the Cloisters later in the week as well. It appears GA does not feel the need to wear masks. While sitting around the fire pit (we were the only two there), four other people came and didn't believe in social distancing. One came and said on the edge of the fire pit right in front of us. Very strange. There was more than enough room around the fire pit to socially distance, they just didn't see the need and didn't wear masks. We will definitely go back, but after the pandemic. GA's view of the virus is certainly different than HI. read more

We stayed at the Jekyll Island Club Resort for three days. I was supposed to receive the third day free but they never applied the discount. We ate at the restaurant and the food was overcooked and rubbery, it has gone downhill since we were there last, it used to be excellent. Then they added a $50 charge to my bank and said it was because we used a different credit card, but that the charge wouldn't stick, it would fall off after the pending hold was up. When we checked out they put the $999 charge on my card, it is still pending, then they charged us ANOTHER $1049+, that charge went through without the pending charge removed. SO they reinstated the $50 charge that was supposed to be removed and charged us over $1000 TWICE. My account is overdrawn for the first time ever. I called them and emailed them earlier in the week about the discount not being applied and they never returned my call or email. So our discount was never applied, they charged us $50 they said they wouldn't, and they double charged us for the room. Talk about the grinch who ruined Christmas! The room had a red stain on the rug that looked like blood and the maid only showed up once. Not happy with them! read more

Last minute birthday weekend getaway for my wife. Check in was very efficient and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The on-site amenities are up to date and well maintained. The grounds are nicely landscaped and also well maintained. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back! read more

I'm reviewing their restaurant, Corsair. The original Corsair was J.P. Morgan's famed yacht, and legend has it that he had a cannon fired when he was a mile away from landing at Jekyll back in the day to announce his arrival. But I digress. The Jekyll Island Club's newest venture is a more modern, boutique hotel-y setup literally directly on the beach, the Jekyll Ocean Club. It's been open exactly six days now, and looks super-promising. The food at Corsair is to die for. I went for dinner, and had the pressed chicken with fried Brussels sprouts; the BF had the margarita pizza. I could become a vegan and exist solely on their Brussels sprouts -- they were that good! The chicken, roasted, was perfect and almost spoke French, so crisp and buttery was the skin. The pizza was divine. Clearly, I'm a fan! There's a bit of everything on the menu -- seafood, American, a dabble of Southern (#pimentocheese), a taste of Italy. The ambiance is delightful -- there's a large screened-in candlelit porch (#romantic), a large inside area done in coastal driftwood contemporary that is fun and comfy, and another seating area outside outside. Truthfully, the dining area is a wee bit too close to the pool, but I understand that the developer faced depth restriction issues (the pool literally abuts the dunes), so hopefully, this will work itself out with time (and much landscaping). The charming staff makes up for noisy kids at the pool. (But if that sort of thing bothers you, plan on sitting indoors.) This is one of my new local faves, and I can't wait to return!! A+ read more

Our visit to the Jekyll Ocean Club was nothing short of amazing. First off, Jekyll Island is one of the most incredible places on the Georgia coast you can visit. Food, Drink, Shops, and a bed I can put my head down on. The Room at the Ocean club was clean, and well kept. It felt clean and it was COVID free. My suite had enough amenities for our stay; I especially loved the couch and ottoman I could put my feet upon after a long day of exploring the fruits of Jekyll. The food was incredible, the in house restraint and bar catered to our food and drink needs... lots of options at a fair price. After dinner, step out and enjoy the uncrowded fire pit and have a drink; order a s'more from the kitchen...see where the night goes. The staff was courteous and helpful and were "COVID conscious" ...I will definitely return... read more

This place is a disappointment for me. We come down to Jekyll twice a year and normally stay at the Westin or Hampton Inn depending on availability. Both were booked so we splurged on the Ocean Club as this was a stay I had been wanting to try since it opened. The property generally felt like no one has kept it up since it opened. The 2nd shower head wouldn't stay in the holder. The toilet paper holder kept pivoting and dropping the roll on the ground. The handle fell off the porch door. Hot tub jets kept malfunctioning. Staff was just "ok". Service at bar by pool was crazy slow. Toiletries were never replaced in shower unless i asked. Poolside food was just ok. Dont think i will stay here again. read more

I really want to give the Jekyll Ocean more stars but when we couldn't take a hot shower that lowered the stars. I told the front desk they said maintenance would come to look at it and we guess it couldn't be fixed. Also, we have stayed in many hotels this summer but this one you could hear all the bumbling and walking in the room above. The best part of the room was the balcony facing the water. We would definitely come back to Jekyll Island not sure if we would stay here. read more

We were supposed to stay two nights and cut it down to one. I was served a $15 glass of wine in a plastic cup (terrible!!) The rooms smelled. The island is dirty. There are absolutely no good restaurants (you have to drive to st. Simon to find any decent restaurant). For $500 a night, go stay at a 5 star resort somewhere else where you can receive 5 star service for what you pay. It's a disgrace that they charge what they charge per night for a 4 star hotel (which should be 2 in my opinion)- there's zero class, zero service, the people at the pool were drunk with their kids around walking into the restaurant shirtless. It's not an enjoyable place whatsoever and if I could get my money back I would. Look elsewhere! read more

The best experience! We had our mini moon here and absolutely fell in love with this place! The staff is AMAZING! Super friendly and very helpful with any and all requests. Everyone was very helpful from the time we entered until the time we left. (The entire staff was awesome! Tyler, Katie, Rich and one other nice gentleman that helped us out) The property is gorgeous and right on the beach. We had an oceanfront view that was breathtaking. The rooms were excellent! Very spacious and clean. The beds were so comfortable. We had the best time, I can't wait to come back. You can bike everywhere and the town is at a low key pace which is so relaxing and great change of speed when you're coming from the bustling city of Atlanta :) I can't say enough good things about this place and our stay! Thanks so much to the staff for making it memorable and I recommend this place to everyone. We can't wait to make this an annual trip for our anniversary! See you guys next year! read more

Relaxing Atmosphere My recent stay was amazing. The Jekyll Island Ocean Club is the best in the area. Hotel staff were both friendly and accommodating. A special shout out to my man " Lamar " he rocks !!! He was always there with a warm smile ready to greet & assist us. His knowledge of the area really helped us navigate our way around the Island. Our suite was clean and spacious - housekeeping was spot on daily. From sunrise to sunset you can hear the wonders of the waves beckoning you to come and enjoy the private beach. The pool area was clean and so very relaxing. We visited St. Simons to check it out. No comparison to Jekyll Island. Too busy, too crowded. If you are looking for peace & quiet stay on Jekyll. We really enjoyed our stay here over Easter break. This is a newer, smaller, all-suites property that is affiliated with the larger, historic Jekyll Island Club. A shuttle runs between the two properties, and there is a reciprocity agreement for use of amenities. The bonus is this property is on the beach side of the island. Every suite has a large balcony or patio with a direct ocean view. The suites are thoughtfully designed with modern amenities and accommodated our family perfectly. Friendly staff, clean pool area with ample seating and fire pit, gorgeous beach. The virtual concierge was a neat touch. They text you to make sure you are checked in okay and you can text with any request you may have. We used this feature to ask for sheets and pillows for the pull out couch and they responded immediately. The public areas and restaurant are great. Open air dining and a large fireplace contribute to the relaxed but cozy beach vibe. Best part is the island and beaches are not crowded at all compared to many of the other area islands.
