Right when you enter The Westin on Jekyll Island, you feel relaxed. The ambiance of the lobby is just what you're looking for when you visit this quiet beach destination. The staff is very friendly and always ready to answer your questions. They have plentiful of lounging areas in the lobby if your room is not ready. They have a cafe that proudly serves Starbucks until the late afternoon, which really comes in handy in the mornings. The firepits are a lovely place to sit as the sun sets, it's easy to get to the pool and beach, and the beach view rooms are beautiful! The pool chairs do have a lot of bird poop on them, which is unfortunate, and parking can be super difficult. These are the only things keeping this from a perfect 5 star stay! read more

Valet or self parking available. Complimentary EV charging is available: 2 in the middle of parking lot and 3-4 along wall. Lots of bikes available at this hotel. Hallways can be long to walk to a room, ask for a room close to elevators if walking far is a factor. Common area Walls and floors were clean. Room had an updated coastal decor with plenty of wardrobe space, safe, and small refrigerator. Bed was comfortable. Large tv to watch the mbb tourney at night. Pros: located across the street from market, shopping, and dining. Microwave located near ice machine. Cons: mobile key did not work, had to call and wait on bellman. When booking room, pictures show interior side view room not exterior (more details needed on website). Shower floor not clean. It was time for my annual work training and this year, it was being held at The Westin - Jekyll Island. I was excited as I had heard nothing but great things about The Westin - Jekyll Island property and was ready to experience it for myself. Arriving at The Westin - Jekyll Island property was a smooth process. The location was easy to find and parking was easy to access. I parked in the temporary area so I could check-in and headed inside. The interior of the lobby area was gorgeous. Very vibrant, spacious, and super clean. It had a traditional beach vibe and was perfect for the area. After taking in the ambiance, I headed to the desk and was greeted by the desk agent. She was very professional, friendly and welcoming. She welcomed me to The Westin - Jekyll Island and confirmed my name. My check-in process was smooth as I had completed the initial steps online so it was just the showing of ID, applicable documents and obtaining my key that had to be done in person. Once that was done, it was back to my car to find a park. Though the parking lot is big, I will admit, it was full. LoL! There were a few groups houses at the property and you could tell by the parking. It took a few but I found a spot and was on my way. I parked. Grabbed my luggage, headed back inside, and took the elevator up to my floor. The elevator was clean as well and was a smooth ride. No scary noises or abrupt stops. (whew) Once on 5, I got off and headed to my room. The floor was clean. I didn't smell any smoke and the hallway was well lit. Arriving at my room, I tapped my key, opened my door and voila, the true experience of The Westin - Jekyll Island began for me. My room was gorgeous. It was clean, spacious, well maintained, everything looked to be of a great quality, the sheets were high thread, the towels weren't rough, and the bed was plush and comfortable. I'm talking from the door to the window, the room was top notch. The sitting area was so cute and cozy and really set a different vibe from the sleeping section with the bed. Though it was just a regular room, it presented as a dual space setting which made it even more cozy. Yes, 10's across the board. The next day, it was time for the conference. Conference day allowed me to experience the conference area of The Westin - Jekyll Island location and just like my room, it was another win. The conference room was very spacious. The chairs were very comfortable and the room was set to a temperature that wasn't too hot or too cold. The breakfast was amazing and reminded me of a southern home cooked meal. I'm talking about all the goodies. Bacon, Chicken Sausage, Grits, Assorted Breads, Pastries. The perfect variety of what was needed to get the day started (and keep me awake). From check in to check out, my experience at The Westin - Jekyll Island was nothing but pleasant. The staff were all friendly and customer focused. The food was good. The coffee was fresh. The location was clean. The bed was extra comfortable. And best of all... the room was very spacious as was the shower. An absolute 10/10 for me. read more

First time at Jekyll Island. Didn't realize you have to pay an island fee at a toll booth on the way in. Hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful. Very short walk to the beach. Island is private and secluded. Only stayed 1 night but loved the vibes of the hotel. Got drinks at the bar in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Loved watching the butterflies in the garden at the back of the hotel. Beach views are great, they also have bikes you can ride around the island. Avoid the bar/restaurant! Our recent day at the Westin was mostly pleasant as in the past, but I feel that I need to warn others of the bar/restaurant. We had high hopes for Willet's Low Country/Pour Tabby. Over the course of two days, we were charged different prices for the exact same drinks. When questioned the same bartender said it was because "Aperol Spritz was not on the official menu" even though she made it on the same day and charged a lower price. Beyond pricing, the quality and consistency of the drinks varied wildly. What should have been a straightforward cocktail on the menu for $15 came out differently each time--missing key ingredients altogether that were listed on the menu. It was clear that no standard recipe was being followed and training is needed. To make matters worse, the service was disappointing. Despite tipping generously, I was met with curt, dismissive, and at times outright rude responses from the bar staff. There was no sense of hospitality or appreciation, just the bare minimum effort and a cold attitude. For a venue in a well-regarded hotel, I expected far better. My best friend and I booked the Westin for our weekend away! Everything was fantastic from start to finish. The front desk staff was extremely kind, specifically Judy was lovely and helped us with our room! A very nice younger girl, who I did not get her name, checked us in and actually upgraded our room so we could have a better ocean view! That was extremely appreciated! We came to celebrate a few things this weekend and that was a beautiful start to our Trip. We absolutely loved meeting the bellmen, Rone is a true treasure! Yes it's a Westin which used to mean something. We ordered room service for breakfast. When it arrived, she was holding a pot of coffee and a paper bag. I asked, "No cart?" And she said, "Not if we don't have to. To make matters worse, no plates. No coffee cups. See attached photos. We ordered biscuits and gravy which were all dumped in a brown paper box. The eggs, bacon, toast and grits, also, dumped in a brown paper bag. The items for the oatmeal were all in cheap paper containers. Everything including the coffee was cold. Amazing location right next to a convenient shopping/restaurants area, The hotel faces the gorgeous beach and sand dunes. Lots of walking trails and within easy access to the convention center. Free self parking which is unusual for most Westin branded properties. Thanks to the team for the ocean front room upgrade- listening to the waves was amazing. Bikes are available to rent and plenty of outdoor seating. Hotel was very clean and had high standards for keeping everyone safe. Only wish the restaurant would have provided dinner room service. Front desk did not even have a menu and I did not have my phone with me to scan and look at a menu upon check in. The hotel was very quiet- low occupancy and limited staffing. We arrived late from our drive there and were too tired to deal with going to the restaurant, ordering, blah, blah. Luckily, we had some left over goodies that we had packed! We have stayed on the island in different places and even walked into the Westin but never stayed. This place is really nice and is right on the water. They have their own beach. We have a good status with Marriott so we got a nice upgrade to our room. Really well done rooms that are very well kept with lots of room. Our balcony faced the atlantic and was a great viewing spot for the sunrise. Staff here is super friendly and accomodating. Amenities include a great restaurant, fire pits and lots of close parking! It is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants that are in the area. A bit of a drive from the highway but worth it. read more

It was ok. Like others have stated, the parking was free, which was a bonus because the price that I paid was steep compared to the amenities offered. We didn't have a Bluetooth speaker or radio in our room to connect our phones too, which I only mention because it seems to be one of the most basic amenities nowadays. The location of the hotel is better than others in the area since it's right in the mix of all the things to do, and the beach is also accessible. That may be why the price is higher. Our room was modern with a nice bathroom and shower. The view was somehow of the roof of the floor below us. Not very sexy lol. We absolutely loved our stay! The resort is beautiful inside & out & the location is perfect! We took one of our dogs with us and everyone is so dog friendly. Even though there were a lot of people on the island, no matter where we went it never felt crowded. The pool, the beach, restaurants, it always felt like we had it all to our self! The food at the resort restaurant, The Reserve, is pricey- but delicious. We ate breakfast here every morning & had dinner for our 5 year olds birthday. The waitress sang Happy Birthday with us & our birthday boy received a complimentary dessert! Love the bar side pool- just wish it was open later! The bar inside the resort is open late & there was no one there, while plenty of us at the pool walking all the way to the inside bar for a drink. Very beautiful location with crisp modern decor and attentive staff. I love minimalism with grey colors and white orchids everywhere. We stayed just two weekend nights for our 26th wedding anniversary. My favorites were the ocean view and the buffet breakfast. Our modern king room overlooked the ocean and garden where a wedding was set up for late Saturday night. The afterparty was in a ballroom so it was quiet. I was underwhelmed by the Saturday turtle release. Basically if you don't get there by 9:30 am you won't be able to see anything after a one hour wait. I was in the ocean but should have gone around the entire crescent where my husband found a spot. I didn't call him because I was in several feet of water. There are gift shops, restaurants and a small grocery next door. Since it is only an hour and a half from our home in JAX I hope to visit often. The island is still very quiet. read more

It's hard to write a review of a place where you check in at 3AM, get maybe 4 hours sleep and then check out after eating breakfast, but I'll try anyways. I stayed here recently for the GRPA Conference at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. I had actually booked a different hotel but then switched to this one when I saw the amenities and how close I was to the Convention Center. It sits right on the beach and has enough parking. Keep in mind, you will pay a fee prior to getting onto the island. I believe mine was $6 at the tollway crossing. I was a little baffled by this, and there no was no attendant there due to the time I arrived. The lobby area was very big, and I actually had to wait 15 minutes before I could check in, due to their accounting system switching to next day. I also got confused and had gone to the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, thinking it was the Westin. My room was nice, and it did have a beach view as promised. I was not in the room long at all but did take a couple of photos. It had everything needed, plus a comfy bed. I also missed hitting the fitness center, which was one of the reasons I switched my booking to here. With my running injury, it became obsolete, but they do have a nice fitness center here. I did eat at their onsite restaurant, The Reserve, which I was going to do a separate review on but just going to do a quick blurb on. The All You Can Eat Buffet is the best option: it comes with juice, coffee, access to Buffet. $20. You'll pay that easily and more just by ordering an omelette and juice/coffee. They have an omelette station that's cooked to order. You fill out the slip with what you want and they bring it to you. Egg whites is an option. They also have waffles, bagels, cereal, fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, sausage, bacon and I believe I saw grits and breakfast potatoes. Service was great and omelette was tasty. Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend staying here with the little time I spent onsite. read more

I couldn't be more surprised and disappointed with a Westin hotel. Our issues started when the hotel contacted us to let us know our room was ready... only it wasn't. When arrived several hours later, we quickly noted that the room lacked the rollaway crib for our child and the pet package (dog bed, water/food bowls) that we had reserved for the room. When we contacted the front desk, they told us to wait and they would get them up to us at some point. Apparently, they weren't in any hurry. As we waited, we noticed several other issues with the room. Overall, the room was underwhelming, especially for about $500/night. It reminded us of a $50/night room at Motel 6 but in worse shape. The lamp was broken with exposed wiring, presenting a clear safety hazard. One of the seats had clearly visible stains. The bathroom was disgusting and in desperate need of repair. The shower was gross, with yellowed caulking and broken pieces. There was pubic hair clearly visible. The toilet paper holder was broken, hanging from the wall. Perhaps that is why housekeeping didn't put a new roll of toilet paper on there between guests. I decided to speak with management about these issues. However, on my way downstairs, I encounter yet another issue. Two Westin employees were having an altercation in the hallway. They were yelling at each other and appeared to be on the verge of a physical altercation. They were still going out it a half hour later. When I finally got to speak to a manager, they didn't even seem concerned or apologetic. The management team acted as if I should just suck it up. Perhaps our room and experience is simply the standard for this Westin. Personally, if I were the manager I would be embarrassed. I'll start off my saying the hotel itself is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. However the staff unfortunately ruined my experience here. And it wasn't just one person, it was nearly every single one I encountered with the exception of a couple standouts. I did not feel the least bit of the typical customer service or any sense of a "how can I help you?" attitude usually associated with Marriott. Simple requests were met with rudeness and an overall air of "I don't care", "I can't be bothered with this", and "I don't want to be here." It felt like being a guest was an inconvenience to them and they had no desire whatsoever to help you enjoy your stay. We used to live staying at this property. We will not be back. The hotel Is disgusting. Rooms never cleaned unless asked. We had to move one room because the smell of cigarette smoke was so bad. The hallway is full of trash and sand and was never vacuumed. Smoke detectors going off and we had to evacuate because the kitchen burned something! I could go on and on. They charge you eight dollars to come across daily but you don't have to pay for parking. The hotel is very pretty and it has a beautiful view but the majority of the staff had no customer service skills. Most people did not smile and seem to have no joy. They seemed robotic or like they hated their job. There were a few exceptions and they had true southern hospitality. Check in went smoothly. Whenever I needed anything, I called them at the front desk but no one ever gave me their name and they had no smile in their tone. Sometimes they even sounded rude especially after my post. Half the time I had to call back because I never received what I asked for. It's very sad to see Customer Service like this. The bed was heavenly and the room was nice and spacious. It had a refrigerator, no microwave but there was one near the ice machine. The shower was adequate but the temperature of the water did change throughout the shower. The sink did not drain well so it left it dirty if I poured anything down it. The toiletries were nice. Whenever they came and brought me new towels after taking my used ones, they never left me a new bathmat so I had to always use a towel for one. The towels were nice and thick. they did not have robes in the room so I had to ask for one. They forgot to bring me coffee one day after I asked. They use generic Aquafina water but they have Starbucks coffee. The room had a very nice partial view of the ocean and it was very nice to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the mornings. The evening times, you open the door and you're going to get mosquitoes and gnats and they are horrible! There is a screen but it did not help. One pet peeve I had, I would lose the Internet constantly. If I put my phone down for any reason, when I picked it back up the Internet was gone. I ordered In-Room Dining for breakfast and for dinner. Breakfast was a complete disaster but the server (Ben) was sweet as pie. Dinner was perfect but the server was cold and his body language was rude. I also went down and had dinner in the restaurant and it was absolutely perfect. The food was so good and both bartenders were nice. I know one was named George but I didn't get the younger guy's name. George actually served me dinner and he was 5 Star. After dinner you can go outside and sit by the fire pit and even get S'more kits... yum! It's a great property and it has wonderful potential but management obviously is not doing the job that they need to do. Places like this, I wish they'd contract me to just come in and help them be the best they can be. There's a 50-50 chance I'd pay to stay here again. It's a nice place and great food in the restaurant but if I had other choices I'm not sure.... Oh, and one last thing before I forget ...I love the fact that there was always an elevator door open when I went to it. I never had to wait to go to or leave my floor. They did not like me posting about their negativity but they don't realize this is a learning tool for them. I feel like I should've gotten paid for it. That takes my time. They have no idea I'm Forbes trained and I actually do this for a job so I know what I'm talking about. read more

This place has loads of potential but bad Staff and management apparently not impressing upon them high standards is its Achilles heal. If all you care about is a prime location and beautiful accommodations, this place is for you. If you care about cleanliness, go somewhere else. I could drone on for hours about the long wait to be allowed to check in or the curious fact that I was told the cafe was open from 6am-3pm but when I left at around 1:30 on a Monday it still hadn't opened for the day. I could also talk about the hit and miss service with some people being great and some unclear on the meaning of customer experience, but I will focus on something far more fundamental...cleanliness. In waiting forever for a room assignment, I went to the lobby bathroom. It was filthy with full trash cans and paper towels everywhere. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for several days. Once I finally got checked in, the room was equally appalling. There were no wash clothes, but if they had stains like half of the towels in the room, I'm probably better off having washed with my hands instead of their towels. The night stand was sticky and clearly had not been cleaned. The bathroom had beard stubble in and around the sink where someone shaved and they did not clean it (well). The comforter on the bed had multiple stains. Even the Westin guest robe was stained. The room service coffee mugs were dirty and the sugar caddy had a ketchup stain caked on the side. I could go on but my fingers are growing weary. This place has so much wasted potential. I hope management gets this place in shape before a potentially good thing is ruined. read more

We had a great weekend at Jekyll Island, but it was thanks to the great weather and beach and less so because of the hotel. To start, we had let the hotel know that we were celebrating our anniversary and were told that we would get a beachfront room but ended up in a room with double beds, a parking lot view, and no balcony. We got in a little late, so we didn't make a fuss about it, but our disappointment grew the next day when no one ever came to clean our room. We called the front desk at 4:00, and they said they only clean rooms upon request and they wouldn't be able to get to ours till the next day, which was when we were checking out. If this is a Covid protocol, that's fine, but it's something they should definitely tell you upon check in and/or with signage in the room. The highlight of our stay was laying by the beach, but be aware that it costs $30 to rent beach chairs and an umbrella, which in my experience usually doesn't cost extra when you're staying at a hotel by the beach. It would also seem reasonable for this to be covered by the $20 a day resort fee. Some positives of the hotel were that the employees were friendly, they gave us late checkout, and they offered reasonably priced bike rental ($12 for 4 hours). There are cute little businesses by the hotel, and we enjoyed having breakfast at Sunrise Grill (much better prices than the hotel) and gelato at Fuse. It is possible that we will return here for another weekend getaway, but we would need to ensure that we are given the correct room and that our room is cleaned daily. read more

What a beautiful Westin property on beautiful Jekyll Island! Just steps away from the beautiful & peaceful South Georgia beach, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Outside of the phenomenal beach, the thing that made my stay wonderful was the amazingly helpful and friendly staff at the property. Everywhere I walked, I was greeted by a genuine "hello" and "how are you?" that was such a delight! As a person who travels frequently and stays in hotels more than 3-4 times per month, this element truly set this Westin apart & made my stay an incredibly lovely one! I ate twice in the hotel restaurant and the service staff and the food was outstanding! The kindness was also found here with the staff consistently checking on how I was doing and meeting whatever need that I had. The hotel is near the new village area where there are shops and stores and you are steps away from the Convention Center as well. I will for sure return to this lovely property and can't wait to visit again. It's a great little spot for a getaway and an escape that makes you feel like you are on a tiny island all your own, with people who can't wait to serve you. Magnificent!!! read more

During my 2 night stay at the Westin Jekyll Island, it was very unpleasant. Our first night staying there, my three year old son and I was involved in an accident inside of our hotel room. While giving him a bath, the glass door on the shower shattered without reason. As the door shattered, my son was caught under all of the glass. In a panic, I pulled him out getting cuts all over my wrists and hands. We called the paramedics and we were both evaluated. My son suffered superficial cuts and bruises over his little head and body. This left him traumatized. The operations manager on duty only offered us another room. Displeased with the situation as a whole, I told him and he offered to refund us for the nights. He apologized for what had happened but it left me feeling like that wasn't enough. No one from the hotel has called us about the incident or explained to us how something like this could happen. We definitely didn't break the glass on our own but instead we suffered the brunt of the fall. You would think that this 5 star resort would do better with the upkeep and maintenance of their rooms along with the security of features and amenities within their rooms. I find it poor that no one has called to rectify the situation. Needless to say, the damages could have been more extensive! This could have happened to anyone. read more

I think this Westin is unfairly underrated and I can see a common theme across the reviewers, which seems to be the resort fee. Does nobody from the hotel read their comments? I fully agree with all other reviews, resort fee is very out of place at this hotel. There is hardly anything that it covers other than conventional things such as the pool that are always included in the hotel price.They don't have a massive property to keep up here full of attractions, this resort fee is very unnecessary and was shocked having to pay it. So, that aside, I think it's a phenomenal hotel. New, shiny, beautiful. Decorated with many contemporary touches, I absolutely loved he design of this property. Service was impeccable as always with Starwood properties. Breakfast area outside is awesome, with views of the Pacific Ocean. It blends in beautifully with the Jekyll Island coastline. This is the worst room that I have had at a Westin property, second worst room of all time. Parking lot, power generator, dumpster view room. Tried to get moved, indicating a willingness to pay almost anything to get a better room. Apparently there isn't anything available. I am doing everything possible to share how awful this room is on social media. Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, TripAdvisor and Yelp. Nice area and quiet beaches to roam! The rooms are clean, but the pillows are flat like bread! The rooms are equipped with balconies that over look the patio and the beach! The restaurant is located inside the hotel. Call for reservations! Overall a nice quiet getaway bike rentals are available! read more

Stars for the location and amenities. Upon check in as a Gold member, there wasn't any mention of upgrades or Bonvoy extras. This is why I enjoy staying at these properties...I'd describe it like checking into motel 6. Get to the room over looking a construction zone and the door was ajar. No one was in there and every single drawer, door and nook was opened as if the exorcist had passed through. Weird vibe. Apparently no other rooms were available. That night I got up to use the rest room and felt something crawling on my neck. I swatted it off and it appeared to be a cockroach which must've been sleeping with me. Lastly, I was about to use the locker room shower and the shower handle fell on my toes. read more

The Westin Jekyll Island - Hotels Near Me - Jekyll Island, Georgia

First time stay here at this brand new Westin with my wife and daughter for the weekend. We arrived late around 8pm and found the lobby to be unusually empty and quiet for a Saturday night. We were warmly greeted, welcomed at the front desk and quickly on our way to our room. We had an ocean view suite overlooking the main courtyard with its turtle friendly red walk lights. We couldn't see the ocean until the morning but could easily hear the surf. It was unseasonably cold this night so no sitting on the balcony for us. The suite had a large living room and desk with a sleeper sofa that my daughter used. The bedroom had a king size bed and a huge bathroom with a giant tub and glassed in shower. In the morning, we walked a short distance down to the beach from the hotel to catch the sunrise which is easily done in December. Afterwards we had breakfast back at the hotel with my coupons before renting bikes to tour the island for the day. One can easily get around the entire island in a couple of hours using their extensive bike paths. I picked the Westin primarily because I am a Starwood member but also because of their onsite electric vehicle charger. It was super convenient to charge there overnight and leave with a full battery. It was free to boot as well! You do have to purchase a parking pass to get on the island. We bought a daily pass even though we were staying two nights. The pass doesn't need to be displayed and is only needed if you leave and come back on the island which we didn't do. read more
