Goat Cheese with Red Cherries Ice Cream and Double Dough Ice Cream (two half scoops)

Such wonderful and kind service at Jeni's on Monday evening. The samples are so cute on their little metal spoons and the flavors are the perfect intersection of creative and classic. The goat cheese and cherry ice cream is so refreshing and fun!

Opaque Ice Cream in opaque waffle bowl

This review is strictly for the ice cream- not for the shop itself; although I thought the employees in Narberth were a lot friendlier and the store was cleaner. Nonetheless, Narberth was out of the opaque ice cream, so I trekked to downtown to Rittenhouse. I have already tried black ice cream at another establishment in West Philly (See previous review for my thoughts) OK, OK...I'm getting to it now. This OPAQUE was just OK. I wasn't really fond of the texture. I didn't think it was smooth. The flavor was more coco/Espresso than anything, and I tasted a hint of strawberry or cherry. And before y'all ask, the cone doesn't have any flavor. Overall rating is a 3. That's it! Til we eat again...

Standard with Salted Peanut Butter and Brambleberry Crisp

The sun was out to murder us. Philadelphia had become a convection oven and my wife and I were the rotisserie chickens. Then we saw Jeni's. The storefront glowed like a mirage in a desert made of asphalt and bad decisions. We stepped inside and were met with cool air and the smell of sugar trying to earn a living. Ice cream is not cheap here. Nearly seven dollars gets you what they call a "standard," which is two scoops just big enough to remind you what money used to be worth. Still, quality makes a compelling argument. My wife picked brambleberry crisp and Gooey Butter Cake. The Gooey Butter Cake was a mystery at first. I tried it and at first tasted nearly nothing. Then, just as I gave up, came the delayed arrival of butter. It was like a telegram from an earlier time, slow but sincere. The brambleberry crisp was better. The vanilla base had layers of oat streusel and fruit jam that actually tasted like fruit, not the artificial pinkish-purple concoctions you usually find in these things. I tried to build my own peanut butter and jelly combo. I paired brambleberry crisp with salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks. This was the smart move of the day. The peanut butter was bold. It was confident. It was so creamy I considered writing it a thank you note. With the tart fruit of the brambleberry beside it, the two flavors shook hands and became greater than the sum of their parts on my tongue. Service was quick. The staff looked like they had not yet been broken by the heat or humanity. The store was clean and smelled like optimism and waffles. Jeni's is not a place to go every day unless you have a trust fund or no concept of budgeting. But on a day when the sun is actively trying to kill you, it is a fine place to make a temporary truce with the world.

First time trying this chain, which is known for its chef-inspired, small-batch flavors. The shop was clean but cramped--standing room only. They do let you sample two flavors, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn. Staff were curt and dismissive, and we were shocked when they served their friends--who had been behind us in line--before us, letting them skip ahead like it was no big deal. The ice cream itself was just okay: not very flavorful and didn't live up to the hype. Between the mid ice cream and the unprofessional service, we left disappointed.

Forgot to take a picture before I started eating it. lol. So delicious and not mad at any flavor I sampled. The almond butter brittle is the best and I mixed it up with some double Dough. Bramble berry crisp is a good one too. I normally get ice cream at Whole Foods. Their pints are cheaper there and especially during prime 50% ice cream in July!! But I come here for some hand scooped extra flavors and cones and toppings experience of course

I aad a serious ice cream craving while in Philly this past weekend and had to stop by Jeni's: one of my favorite ice cream franchises. I went straight to my go-to flavor, Gooey Butter Cake. It's my absolute favorite!!!! Creamy, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It never fails! The service at this location was great. The line moved quickly, which is always a plus. Definitely a must-stop if you're in the area!

The Rittenhouse location is often packed, so prepare to wait in a line around the corner for a few minutes if you're indulgent for a sweet treat. Inside the store, there's ice cream tubs for sale and a preview of their many flavors. I appreciated being able to have tasting spoons before committing to a particular set of scoops. This review is more from personal taste preference, but I felt that the ice cream was way too sweet and overpowered my taste buds. While the rotating flavor in Tropical Bloom had a good peach palette, even the Double Dough tasted too sweet for my liking. I did like that they provided a small waffle piece, which made for a good scoop when the ice cream started melting. As of April 2025, it also looked like they no longer provide a partnership with Pure Barre on a free scoop upgrade. I appreciated the service staff still honoring it for us at the time of our purchase, but just a note for anyone else looking to use their membership benefits.

The line was worth the wait!!! The line moved fast and there was a security guard monitoring the door and keeping things moving. The flavors at this shop were incredible! Every one I tried was so unique and different! Something that threw me off was the fact that the serve 1/2 scoops! Can't wait to go again and try more flavors!

    Lemon bar, and brambleberry crisp

It is a small space where there is only a tiny bar area where few customers can hang out and eat. The service was fairly quick, friendly, and helpful. I really enjoyed their dairy free lemon bar. My daughter got lemon bar, and brambleberry crisp (which she enjoyed). I like the ice cream in a cup came with a waffle wedge! Sweetness wise I think it's pretty similar to Van Leewen.

Toasted s'more and Texas sheet cake

Went for the first time today and the staff was amazing, so friendly. Sampled 3 flavors and ended up with toasted s'mores and Texas sheet cake. Omg, both flavors were amazing. Texas sheet cake was like a triple chocolate dairy free dream. Speaking of, there's a delicious variety of dairy free ice creams if you're into that, i didn't even notice the difference with that flavor. I'll be back!

They have many different ice cream flavors to choose from. But the highlight is their waffle cone made in store! I really like the miso butterscotch brownie, this season's special.

    lemon bar ice cream

good ice cream flavors, just small portions. Love that its close to Rittenhouse Park to enjoy, they even participate in community events like the Spring Festival love!

Such a great place to get ice cream on a hot summer day! The ice cream was delicious and the girls who served us were so sweet! It is on the pricier side but still worth every penny!

Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Lemon Bar, SO good!
