I had posted a previous post about how rude, arrogant and dismissive the owner was when the air…read moremachine was broken when we approached him. That review was over three years ago. Apparently, it stuck in his craw because he just today sent me harassing vulgar messages laden with profanity thru the Nextdoor application. From a review from three years ago. I feel the other reviews, especially the unrecommended ones speak volumes about this petty little man. The littlest dog tends to yap the loudest. In fact, we used to patronize this business all the time when Bill Pardy and Phil owned it. Not anymore with this potty mouthed little guy who apparently solves issues by challenging people to "say it to his face" LOL (which, we in fact DID at the time and he responded very rudely). Over 50 cents!!!! Really? Are we back in junior high school? Looks like from the other reviews, quite a few customers have been treated rudely, but the owner appears to be in denial about it. I guess the truth hurts. I wanted to share one of the owner's responses in a direct message sent to me which I think speaks for itself to the true character and professionalism of this person (edited for Yelp) "You are a mother****** I don't need customers like you OK you gonna call the police for 50 ****ing cents you mother****** well you can go **** yourself you and where you came from and if you were a man and not a ****ing p***y you would ****ing come down and approach me because I have no idea who the **** you are people like you call the police for $.50 and that shows what kind of person you are" This unhinged person JUST sent me this vulgar message today(above) on Nextdoor DM from a review written THREE YEARS AGO. (I did not call the police about the 50 cents at the time just to clarify). Nice guy huh folks? Over 50 cents. I shudder to think what happens over an issue at this business worth more than 50 cents ( which these days buys you half a candy bar.)

I went to J&J about getting my car inspected...the only shop that was friendly and helpful when I…read moresaid I needed walk in service if available. I got the inspection done today and the experience was great. Jay, one of the owners, welcomed me to the shop, very friendly. I sat in the waiting area after they started the inspection. There was another customer there and we started chatting. He couldn't praise the guys there enough. This other customer and I started lamenting how a lot of businesses don't provide the same customer experience we were use to from when we were younger (yes, bunch of old guys lamenting the world is going to...) and he said J&J is one of the exceptions. Jay showed me some additional concerns on my car...brake and tire wear. He showed me the problem areas and said I have some time left but these expenses are coming down the pike. It was refreshing to see this sales approach...I was aware he was upselling the other services they offer and I was totally happy with that...that's what all businesses must do. It was the approach, education, and showing me why the repairs would be needed that convinced me that when I need the work to be done, I will go to Jay and his team. Well done guys and keep it up! PS: they have the cutest wall of kids pictures that puts a smile on your face.

I went to Probilt Transmissions in Poughkeepsie, NY and met with the owner. He looked at the bulletin and I asked him if he would perform the work outlined in the bulletin with my parts and he said that if there was any supplied parts that were incorrect or he needed additional parts, he would slap the old parts back in the transmission, push the car outside and would charge me a Second time to do the work. Sounds punitive to me...for no good reason..so please keep my experience in mind when you read all these glowing reviews. I got the job done at K+J Automotive in Hyde Park for $300. The root cause ended up being a missing NVH foam piece - something simple, but overlooked repeatedly. Bolt also worked directly with my warranty company and made a real effort to get as much covered as possible, which I appreciated. While they were in there, they were upfront about the spark plugs - noting that since access was already open, it made sense to take care of it now rather than paying for the same labor again down the road. That kind of transparency goes a long way. Overall, the team comes across as fair, honest, and focused on doing things the right way. It's safe to say I'll be going back to Bolt moving forward.
