For that matter, it is one my favorite photos of Caroline and me, of all time. During the election campaign for Westminster City Council in the spring of 2019, Caroline and I decided to have portrait and branding artist photographer Kelly Heck take a campaign picture for us. We were so thankful we chose Kelly - she is enormously talented. We really enjoyed working with her. She has a great sense of humor. She is very accessible and approachable. When we arrived at her studio in Taneytown, she was fully prepared, she had great cameras and equipment - all set-up and ready to go. Her excitement was contagious. Kelly really makes you comfortable and puts you at ease. She runs a very efficient business operation. She gives you very personal individual attention - and she gets back with you in a timely manner for scheduling and coordination. She answers your questions thoroughly. She texts, emails and has a great web portal - her website is really well done and is an adventure all to itself. Kelly walks that fine line between being fun, yet easily understood as a very serious professional artist. Her prices are cost-efficient - especially when you take into consideration the enormous amount of time she puts into getting great pictures. Carroll County has been the home to many famous artists over the years. Folks such as Clyfford Still and William Henry Rinehart. Not to be overlooked are local artists such as Thomas Sterner, Linda Van Hart, and John Sosnowsky. We are very fortunate to add another upcoming famous artist in our midst - Kelly Heck. Many years ago when I lived at Buzzard's Crust Studios on the farm in Patapsco, I did a great deal of portrait and art studio photography to help pay the bills. But of course, in those days, I used film. When digital photography came along, I did not keep up. I had thousands of dollars in film equipment and simply did not have the appetite to do that all over again with digital equipment, some of which was obsolete soon after you got it out of the box. I have always really enjoyed collaborative art. For that matter, I really like collaborating with other folks on all kinds of projects and committees. A shared common experience always brings back special memories. So since then, over the years, when I have needed professional portraits, I have had photo sessions with many of the best artists and photographers, including folks like Linda Van Hart, Phil Grout, Cathy Leaycraft, Sherri Hosfeld Joseph, Pam Zappardino, Kenny Koons, Dick Myers, Lance Garber, John Sosnowsky, and Lyndi McNulty, to name but a few. (I even had my picture taken my Robert Mapplethorpe at a party in New York many-many years ago.) I really enjoyed working with Kelly Heck. I simply loved the photos she took for us.
