(Also, the venue required us to have at least a day of coordinator) This was one of the last vendors I hired when I was going through my wedding planning. Like I said I was doing most of the work myself as far as coordinating but I did need a day of coordinator. I honestly, did not know what their true role would be. I had met Lindsay when I first toured The Gallery (my wedding venue), and loved her personality and knowledge. So when I was ready to book a day of coordinator she was my first choice. Due to a scheduling conflict, I ended up working with a member of her team, Shelby. I was a bit skeptical of the switch at first since I had already fallen in love with Lindsay's work ethic. However, upon being introduced to Shelby I felt comfortable with the switch. From the start she was very responsive and always delivered on her promises. She checked her email all the time and even gave me her personal cell and responded to text messages along the way. Leading up to the wedding, Shelby contacted all vendors and set a very detailed timeline. Even though things don't go smoothly, she was able to adjust on the fly and keep us calm throughout what can be a very stressful day. For the setup of the wedding, she took our instructions and ran with them. As breakdown, she made sure we got back all of personal items. After, the wedding, she even helped tracking down missing items and filling in gaps in the night. I couldn't ask for anything else from a day of coordinator. There are so many details that she took care of for our wedding and reception, and the events would not have gone as smoothly had she not been there. Most importantly, she delivered on everything she said she was going to do. Let me repeat that...she did EVERYTHING she said she was going to do. I cannot emphasize enough how important that is for a successful event, not to mention that it really reduced our stress level the week of the event! We met with Sobi prior to the event date to go over everything that would need to be done during the events, and she was informative about what to consider and worked with us to figure out how to make everything run on time and the way we wanted. She was very sweet and easy to work with, not to mention organized and listened to what we wanted. She made sure to ask questions so she could understand the type of wedding/reception we wanted (and not necessarily what would be 'easiest' for her to handle). She also made sure she got all the information she would need for that day (including setup diagrams, vendor contact info, schedules, etc). She even followed up with any questions she had after reviewing everything we had given her. She confirmed all of our vendors for the day, and took care coordinating all of the details (and believe me, there were many of those) and setup of the venues. She also made sure we kept to our timeline during the reception, which was amazing (and awesome) considering we had about 185 people at the event to handle. During the event, Sobi was calm and very organized. Some of our guests even commented that she was very sweet and was doing a great job handling everything. Sobi was invaluable to us with all the logistics she took care of...and she was the biggest reason we were able to relax on our wedding day! Stephanie (owner) is my coordinator, and she is everything a busy girl needs in her life. Stephanie is like a personal assistant-wedding edition, and she genuinely cares about bringing your vision forward. I cannot stress how important it is to have a coordinator who is ON, all the time. Since I have a crazy schedule and unpredictable work hours/home hours/school hours, it was imperative that I select a full service package. And y'all-En Vogue delivers. She texts me, calls me, tags me, picks up vendor samples for me, proof reads emails for me, communicates with all the top vendors in the city, and goes above and beyond to de-stress a very stressful season in my already-chaotic life. I knew that wedding planning while balancing my full time job and full time school, among life's other surprises, would be a challenge. But she and her team make it feel organized. To start off, it is not my goal to defame En Vogue Events, I am still a bride and customer service is HUGE to me. When looking for vendors, I want the opinions of an honest bride to help me, before signing a contract with a vendor. So, this is my reason for writing. I cancelled my services with the company over two (2) weeks ago and purposely waited this long before writing a review, to see if Haley Hughes would call to reconcile and admit to not following the contract, the company never called/email to apologize, so I decided to let her brides know what I experienced. If I were a confrontational person, who was rude and derogative, then I can expect a company/individual no longer provided their services, but I am the complete opposite. I just expect to get what I paid for and for a company/individual to do their job. I am still in the process of planning my wedding and when I worked with En Vogue Events, it started off okay, but then I noticed Haley would not respond to emails in a timely manner, I would have to remind her to send over timelines, she did not attend the floral meeting (which was stated on the signed contract), she did not contact me to attend meeting with other vendors (also on the signed contract), unreturned phone calls/emails...etc. When I first met with Haley, I mentioned that customer service is the most important quality of a company. She expanded on how she is great at that, she is anal and so business will get done...etc. Just last this month (May 2011), I had to cancel with her in the middle of my planning, because there is no way I wanted to give someone thousands of dollars and they did not care about my wedding When I realized I could not take it anymore, my fiancée and I schedule a meeting with Haley to discuss how this business relationship is not working and what she was going to do; since she did not follow parts of the contract. She understands that my fiancée and I live 60 miles out of the city, so we had to prepare the night before to meet with her. She wrote me around noon, the day we would meet, to cancel. This was not the first meeting she cancelled. After that, I knew she did not care about our wedding. Our venue in Dallas is beautiful and most of the brides who host their wedding there, is willing to pay a lot of money for vendors. Our contact at the hotel has many years of experience and loves to hear about vendors, so she can recommend to her brides. We also plan on having our wedding figured in magazines and websites, which would have also brought her additional contacts. I have no idea if it was a personal grudge (which I have no idea why it would be, because Haley and I barely spoke, she only showed to one meeting to get to know me.) The hotel recommended a new planner in Dallas and we are so happy. I said I would not go over budget for a planner, but I did, just because her recommendations from the hotel, and from other brides was positive. So if someone is willing to go above and beyond, we are willing to pay. This is a long email and I did not included other instances my fiancée and I had with En Vogue Events, but working with them was the absolute WORST part of planning this entire wedding. So, if you want a planner to care about you and your special day, in my opinion, this is not the company.

Since both events were 2 days apart at Sugar Land Marriott, she was able to give such a unique look to both events that guests were left puzzled how they were in the same hall. She was even able to do a small stage setup in a day's notice at our home that was just as stunning as the wedding hall. Shy was helpful, compassionate, very thoughtful, and just an overall wonderful person to work with.I would absolutely have no reservations recommending her to anybody who is planning a wedding....in fact, I would insist on anyone looking for a wedding planner to throw Romp Events into the mix! I am a picky person who wanted more than just the cookie cutter wedding planner, one who truly had my best interest at heart, and wasn't going to recommend vendors because of their own self-interest...who was going to be there and help design my wedding so it felt like me and my husband. I interviewed 11 different wedding planners. Shy was the last wedding planner that we met with and from day 1 of meeting her, we knew that she was the wedding planner for us. We knew we wanted the full wedding planning/hand holding experience, because...well, we don't know what we don't know because neither of us had been married before! There is still a lot of leg work from the bride and groom's side because you have to make the decisions leading up to the wedding, but Shy was the one who gave us vendors to look at and had already vetted them so we knew we didn't have to worry. Where Shy and her team really shined was the last 2 months before the wedding - design, organizing the vendors, and making sure everything was good to go for our big day. I tend to be a worry wart and can stress about things easily, but Shy always had my back and reassured me that things were fine. When our photobooth guy couldn't make it because he got hurt, Shy put together a light ring with an iPad and ordered props so that we could still have a photobooth for the same low price - and honestly, it was just as good as the real deal and I don't think anybody noticed any different. When I was freaking out because I felt overwhelmed with my wedding checklist, Shy was there to calm me down and let me know I was doing things just fine and not lagging behind. When we were considering extra things that would have put us out of budget, Shy was there to kindly reel us back in. We had our wedding at The Dunlavy, which has a huge beautiful tree outside one end of the restaurant with a base tree light that shines up the tree. Shy surprised us by having the light shine up be plum purple (one of our wedding colors)....which just gave everything this magical feel! Shy went above and beyond to give us our dream wedding and she with Lisa (the wedding coordinator) executed it perfectly. It was a wedding that felt like us and not just copy and pasted from another wedding. I didn't want all the "popular" trends that you see in wedding magazines...it wasn't for me, but Shy is very creative and really personalized the design for what we wanted. She was able to take my abstract/random thoughts and turn it into a reality. I wanted this casual, but elegant feel to the wedding and Shy absolutely nailed it. I honestly would not change a single thing about my wedding.....and I know I'm biased, but it was the most fun and beautiful wedding I've ever been to. The DJ was AMAZING, food was great, drinks were great, Lisa was awesome, flowers were beautiful, and our photographers were fantastic - it truly was a dream team and it would not have been possible without Shy. They also built a custom 360 bar for my sister's wedding so I was excited have them as a vendor for my wedding! I was able to view the decor in person beforehand, and Thea's experience and creative input made such a difference throughout the planning process. Prestige Events is always adding to their inventory too! The day I looked at the decor, they had just gotten some red lanterns in that we had to include in our wedding! I had a fairly large wedding with nearly 400 guests, and Thea worked closely with me to completely redesign the layout for the decor and tables to fit the venue beautifully. I also had a last-minute request for additional florals, and Chi Lien made it happen seamlessly. The florals turned out stunning, honestly even more beautiful than the inspiration photos we provided! She also gave me a spray bottle to ensure the florals were fresh and hydrated for the wedding day! Our reception was held at Kim Son, and Prestige Events completely transformed the ballroom. From the hallway to the ballroom, every detail was jaw-dropping. We received countless compliments on the decor, but I truly think the photos speak for themselves.
