We were upfront about our budget from the outset, and she was very accommodating, providing options and suggestions to help us stay within it. In our pre-meeting with her, we discussed being worried about not feeling comfortable with too many posed pictures. On the day of the wedding she both helped to set us at ease and also took wonderful candid photographs, capturing special moments as they happened. We never felt like she was in the way or imposing on the flow of the day. She scouted our venue before the day of the wedding and determined and coordinated logistics for getting the special shots. By the time we returned from our honeymoon 2 weeks later, she had sent us a few of her favorite photos as a "sneak peek" before she had a chance to finish the complete set. When we did get the full set of wedding photos, we were amazed that as a single photographer she delivered hundreds of photos that completely captured the day. Each photo individually felt like a great stand alone picture with the subject well considered, and together each helped to tell a cohesive story of our wedding day. In addition, our venue (Stern Grove in San Francisco) provided a lot of challenging lighting conditions - bright sun, shade and shadows, indoor/outdoor, and it all turned out great! As a guy, I was relying on my mom, sister and friends advice to choose the right photographer and to coordinate the majority of the engagement plan during my extended work trip in Germany. Tanja and I are so happy with the pictures and we definitely recommend Stephanie and her creative style to our family and friends. My requirements were a beach location, with the Golden Gate in the background, quadcopter HD video, map of the location and a place where I would know to stop and propose. All of this, turnkey as Tanja and I flew in from Europe the previous day. Stephanie scouted my suggested locations, provided me a number of photos to get an idea of what the background would look like, provided professional guidance on location - typical weather conditions - expected traffic on the beach (we chose Marshall Beach), ensured the timing/angle of the sun was correct, provided a map and directions down the trail-head to beach, coordinated and conducted a dry run with the quadcopter pilot and probably more behind the scene stuff. So we fly in the day prior from a snow skiing trip in Europe (Tanja is drawn to the beach), so I suggest we go for a walk along the beach. With ring in hand, I arrive and text Stephanie as she instructed, I walk down the trail-head (remembering the map), enjoying the day and the Pacific coast view, pass a guy flying a quadcopter (I almost lost it....), headed the direction down the beach I was instructed, casually began looking for the rose Stephanie laid to mark the spot, and steering a conversation so Tanja wouldn't have a clue what was about to go down. I had Skyped with Stephanie on a few occasions so when I saw her in the distance (no camera in sight) I felt confident in my progress. I was instructed to face the ocean and have Tanja face the cliffs to get the angle that Stephanie initially wanted. I saw the rose, stopping in conversation, casually positioned correctly and began to recant my proposal intro. I took a knee, made history (she said yes!) and during the moments soon after we heard that quadcopter buzzing around. Stephanie and her assistant eventually met with us, as well as, Nick the quadcopter pilot. We all laughed as Tanja wondered how all this had taken place after arriving the day before. Stephanie coordinated numerous creative poses and backdrops that we really loved along the beach and it all came out wonderful. I can't say enough about how thankful I am working with Stephanie and how it all went as I planned as saw it in my head many times over from 5,000 miles away. She knew all the best photo spots in the building and wasted no time getting us into position for a huge variety of shots. She was super efficient and made the whole process feel fun and relaxed, even while working quickly to capture as much as possible. Her team was also incredibly professional and responsive leading up to the big day. Communication was smooth, and they made sure we felt totally prepared. All of the vendors she recommended-- our hair & makeup artist, our harpist, even the officiant--were fantastic and really added to how seamless and special everything felt. The final photos came out absolutely beautiful. Every shot felt warm, natural, and totally us. She really has an eye for detail and made everything look magical without feeling overly edited.
