We chose the raspberry champagne cake. It was a delicate vanilla French sponge cake filled with a champagne sabayon layered with raspberries and covered with a champagne buttercream icing. My only regret is that I didn't order a bigger cake. It was all gone at the end of the evening!!! This was the one thing I was really looking forward to for MONTHS in regards to my wedding reception. Full disclosure: We didn't end up working with Jenny for our wedding, but based on our experience with her before, during, and after the tasting, we would wholeheartedly recommend her. We contacted Jenny when we were looking around for a baker for our wedding cake. Emailing with her was easy enough and we ended up getting a tasting scheduled a few weeks out. Jenny was responsive and detailed in all of her email correspondence. When we showed up on the day of the tasting, Jenny welcomed us and ensured we were comfortable. It took me a few minutes to warm up to her (the fiance loved her from the get-go), but once we sat down and got talking, Jenny was fantastic! She listened to all our thoughts, despite them being less than precise, proposed a number of truly excellent ideas, all while showing us bits and pieces of previous cakes she made. Once we settled down on a couple ideas, Jenny sketched out a couple options, provided suggestions, and adapted based on our comments. I (and the fiance) appreciate when others can provide their own creativity and suggestions in a way that doesn't ignore or invalidate my (our) own ideas. This is one of the things that distinguishes a good service from a great service. At one point, we were talking about adding sugar flowers/hand painting. When Jenny realized that we weren't set on one of these looks over a simpler look, she volunteered pricing information and transparently indicated the difference in cost to aid us in decision making. We weren't concerned about pricing and hadn't mentioned anything about pricing to Jenny either, but the fact that she was looking for the best way to get us what we want without the "up-sell" was just awesome. I love when service providers are honest and down-to-earth like this. Moving onto the cake - when Jenny brought out the tasting plate, I immediately noticed that it was very carefully curated with different cake types, filling flavours, and filling types. The way she squeezed in so many different options that allowed you to get a sense of what she can do with a cake was brilliant! No other baker we worked with did anything of the sort. We definitely appreciated the ability to get a rather broad tour of Jenny's options in a single sitting. Let's talk about the taste. Just wow. Her cakes and fillings were superb. Some of the best we've had despite visiting three other very, very carefully curated bakers (from word-of-mouth recommendations, Yelp reviews, and multiple wedding website reviews). You could taste the quality of the ingredients, feel the perfect texture of the cakes, and pick out the tastes in the buttercream, fillings, and cake itself. Her cake wasn't overly sweet, which I've found is a common problem in mass produced cakes (where cakes are either dry and tasteless or moistened with sugar syrup and cloying), and her buttercream was great (of the European variety - hers is either Swiss or Italian, I believe - that is less sweet and more tasty than your more common American buttercream). We were both more than pleased with the cakes. Once we were done, Jenny wrote up a couple of quotes for us and sent us on our way. She was an absolute delight. When we walked out the door, we both knew we had a really difficult decision in front of us. We were waiting for a quote from another baker we really liked and Jenny, who was the last baker we had a tasting with, had just jumped right into first place tying with that other baker. After deliberating for quite some time, we ended up going with the other baker for the mere fact that she provided a handful of flavours that worked better with the direction we were taking our reception. We emailed Jenny once we made the decision and were surprised to receive a response thanking us and wishing us the best. That was totally unexpected, but very appreciated. Despite choosing another baker for our wedding, based on our interactions before, during, and after our tasting and on the quality and taste of her cake, we are convinced that Jenny would be an excellent choice for any special occasion. We'll certainly have to find an excuse one of these days to try her pumpkin spice cake! read more

Jenny's Wedding Cakes are the best! Last year we chose Jenny to create the cakes for our wedding after sampling from MANY other places. Yes, I said cakes. We chose to do a three tier round wedding cake (white cake with orange zest) as our cutting cake and a sheet cake (white cake with almond and raspberry filling) I'll get into the flavor choices a bit later. Jenny was great from the beginning of the process. I actually met with her alone because my wife had to work during the appointment and Jenny was way more informative than anyone else (she may have felt badly because I'm sure I looked overwhelmed but she was great). She gave me a photo album to show my wife for a sampling of designs and she gave me samples of cake to bring home for my wife to try as well. Before we made our final flavor choices we ordered a few sample cakes and had a tasting at my wife's bridal shower. There were so many good choices which is why we ended up with two flavors! Both cakes ended up looking and tasting HEAVENLY! We have used Jenny's baking prowess for other events since our wedding. Believe me after tasting her cakes no other cake will do! Most recently we had Jenny make a small white cake with almond and raspberry filling for our 1 year anniversary which was yesterday. We took down a good 1/4 of it last night and I'm contemplating taking the 30 mile drive home during my lunch break to get another piece :) If you have a wedding coming up and you're tired of looking for your cake just make an appointment with Jenny. I love Jenny's wedding cakes. We went to our caterer to taste the food, and everything was great except for the cake! And since it's one of the last things that our guests would taste, we wanted to make sure that the cake was memorable. Luckily, we turned to Jenny. We first tasted her cake at our friends' wedding. We were impressed by the cake then. So when it was time to find a cake, we decided to go with Jenny. She was very helpful. We sampled her cakes, but they weren't what we wanted exactly. So she created our cake for us. It was a fun process. And the bonus, Jenny used one of her beautiful silver platter for us. Our cake was beautiful. And it tasted wonderful. We loved our wedding cake! We did a small simple cake primarily for photos / cutting, and it came out spectacular. Jenny was able to work with us to make a gluten free cake as my wife has celiac, and was extremely adaptive to our specific requests on flavor and design. Jenny did a fabulous job baking the cake for our wedding this past October. My husband and I are vegan and had an all vegan wedding and it was important to us that the cake was not just good but delicious. Jenny delivered on this! In our initial meeting we discussed flavors and options and what we envisioned the cake to look like. She sketched out a rough draft of our final cake and we did a tasting of some of the vegan flavors. Yum! She is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell she takes pride in what she does. Jenny decorated our cake with fresh flowers our florist provided and it came out so beautifully. Our guests raved about how beautiful it looked and how delicious it tasted. Jenny is simply the best! She is so flexible, accommodating and friendly, we felt like we were working with an old friend. She hosted us at a private and complementary tasting, and though she has dozens of flavors to choose from, we ended up choosing two of the flavors we sampled that day because they were just that good. She worked with us to design a totally unique and personal cake that matched the feel and the decor of our reception flawlessly. During our time working together, one of the kindest things Jenny did was allow us to use her gorgeous cake stand free of charge, provided we were able to return it to her office within a few weeks. Her pricing was extremely fair too, especially due to her popularity in my area. I expected to pay much more than I did for 200+ guests. My wonderful caterer recommended Jenny's Wedding Cakes to me, and I am so grateful. I wanted a beautiful and interesting cake, but I also really wanted a cake that was going to taste good and that my guests were actually going to enjoy. Throughout the entire process, Jenny was so professional and thoughtful. Jenny only does wedding cakes, so she has a great depth of expertise and knows all the venues and caterers in the Boston area. She personally delivered and set up the cake at our venue, which I really appreciated. Jenny not only has a lot of artistic talent, but she is also a great baker and her cakes are really delicious. She has a long menu of flavors and fillings (and can probably even try new ones). We decided to go with two flavors -- one very traditional white cake with almond filling and one that was chocolate-banana with a mocha ganache filling. Her prices vary a little bit depending on the type of cake that you get and the level of ornamentation you go for, but I think most of the flavors are in the $4-6/slice range, and then she charges a very reasonable delivery fee (even though my venue in Lincoln was rather far from her shop in Amesbury). Loved working with Jenny! Her cakes are delicious and she's awesome to work with. We chose two different flavors in alternating tiers, and Jenny made the most gorgeous sugar flowers for us. The cake was stunning and every last bite was gobbled up by our guests! We had a tiered show cake, a sheet cake in the kitchen, and she also made us a small gluten free/dairy free cake for my mother-in-law, to accommodate her allergies. Her creations are creative, artistic, elegant, and special. Crafted with unbelievable skill and care she gave us our dream cake and we received more compliments than I could even count.
