As a car owner, it's very frustrating to deal with car issues. Unluckily for me, my check engine light on my car turned on. Learning from my past, I immediately tried to turn my gas cap tighter hoping that would remedy the issue. It didn't. So sadly, I went to my local pep boys just so they could pull the code - P0730. If you google it, it's basically a code saying your transmission is all messed up. Of course, being a girl means that I have a giant target on my back when it comes to cars saying "RIP ME OFF PLEASE!!!". Linh didn't do that at all. I took my car here and he tested it and drove it around to see what the issue was. My transmission fluid was dirty so he recommended we change it and see what happens with the car. He did tell me that there would only be a 1% chance that was the actual issue, but I was banking hard on that 1%. He told me what to watch out for to see if there was an actual issue with the transmission. He was very friendly and had a lot of information and knowledge about my car. Well, I left and Linh was right. My car's transmission was slowly slipping (I witnessed it myself via the jumping RPM, just as Linh told me) and it would have to be rebuilt. Linh quoted me a price and told me it would take at least a week to fix. A week without a car....who can live a week without a car in SoCal?! Linh did his best and he got my car back to me within five days. The price he gave me was much lower than a dealership and he still offered a warranty of 12 months/12,000 miles attached to it. Overall, my car feels basically like I'm driving a brand new car. His honesty and decent pricing is the reason that I'll keep coming back to him. read more

Very happy to have found this place through Yelp. I was having issues with my suspension (32 adjustable coilovers, k-sport) on my 2007 acural tl-s. It was originally installed by one of James the fender defender guys who is associated with Outcast Garage... For months almost half a year I've been trying to figure out why the hell my ride was so bouncy when I bought BRAND NEW coilovers from Outcast... Thinking back, my boyfriend had told me when he took it to get the suspension originally installed (Outcast referral), the guy who was working on my car was rushing and got frustrated because in order to get to the back dampening system, the entire back seat had to be removed which I guess caused him to rush while doing the install. But, like anyone... If I'm a paying customer, I would hope the job is done correctly which was NOT. Anyhow, I swore to myself that I would NEVER take it back to any of Outcast Garage referral or associates. Hence, I looked on Yelp and found JER. Took my car here for a suspension diagnostic, told the owner Linh everything I was experiencing and he started educating me about what he thought it may be etc. He had to leave, so he told one of his guys what to do.. when I came back, I test drove my car and wasn't satisfied because the guy told me he did his bes, but thought it may have been defective shocks, but luckily Linh had came back, so I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED for him to look into it one more time before I had to seek another option (completely buying a new set/different coilovers). Reason for doing so is because of his knowledge/experience. Linh was very accommodating and went above and beyond to correct the issue himself. He personally took over and put in the time to restart and reset the whole suspension install. He found that the spring rate (preloads) were off as well as the dampening. Even though the work for this took the whole day, Linh gave me a great price because he understood my frustration and I could tell that he really genuinely cared about customer satisfaction. Overall definitely a great experience coming here and highly recommended. Best to call ahead of time to set an appointment or drop off the car and get a ride to run errands or eat because they can get pretty busy (as expected for great service). I took my car here about a year ago and this guy kept my car hostage for 10 months. I got my motor fully built and re did the head and still having issues with timing and have spent thousandths of dollars in between because of the crap job this place did on re assembling my engine and I was over charged and taken advantage of. Maybe this shop does somewhat well with stock vehicles or modified JDM but they sure of hell cannot work on modified boosted mustangs. Do not take modified mustangs here he doesn't know what he's doing or he might just be a greedy person and rip you off. read more

Took my genesis coupe to get the alternator switched out and I figured since I was here just get a tune up as well. Billy had some great customer service along with showing me all the cool cars he was working on. I had some problems the next day with the check engine light but I figured it had to do with my car dying and my electrical with the problems I had with the battery the day before. I was referred to JER by my coworker. Really happy I went there to get my Camry fixed. The car had a bad alternator and really rough idle. Linh set me up with a rebuilt alternator and diagnosed the rough idle and stalling to a dirty throttle body. With a new alternator and clean throttle body, my car is now running as smooth as ever. Came here for a turbo install. He seemed very knowledgeable, but ended up costing me a fortune. They stripped my oil drain when they tapped into my oil pan I'm no expert, but even I know not to tap into an oil pan below the oil line. They forced the screw into the oil drain and when I unscrewed the bolt it broke off. I then removed the oil pan and found all the metal shavings everywhere. Surprisingly, my oil pump is still working, but my turbo starved because the oil line was clogged. He also did not put any effort into finding good AN fittings for water lines. He just hooked up the stainless steel braided hoses directly into banjo bolts. Since the hose sit right next to the exhaust housing both hoses cracked and coolant spilled everywhere. That could've cost me my engine because the car started overheating. I asked him why did he install the water hoses that way and he said he couldn't find any AN fittings. That's funny because I had to find them myself and it wasn't difficult. All it took was one call to Earls performance plumbing. I will never come here again nor recommend this place. I ended up JER Development paying over $5K when everything was all said and done and I still had to pay extra even after such as new oil pan, new water lines, AN fittings, new turbo heat wrap, new Gatrett Turbo... That's all I can think of right now. Hope this helps. read more

Linh is the man. Brought my 350z here because the motor was burning oil. To be honest I was debating on getting my motor replaced either at Corner 3 garage or JER, and Lihn pretty much won the bid. Don't get me wrong Corner 3 is cool, but this is about JER. The motor swap same vq35de he did is still running strong. He now does all my oil changes to now, I know I should do it myself but it is Lihn how could you not take your car there. He has also done some body work. He has a body shop now actually he repaint the left side of my car and install a v2 bumper and painted it as well. Good prices, check him out. read more

Came here to get my d2r headlight replaced for my Infinit G35. Other places ask for 120$+ just to change the bulb, luckily Jer Development quoted less than that. Also, my car seems to be missing some fender push retainer, Linh gladly took some of his fender push retainer from his GTR and installed on mine, haha now I can claim that my car has parts from GTR. I have a 1989 BMW and have had Linh and his crew wrench on it. Linh is an interesting guy, and he is in the right business since he likes cars especially performance cars. On the bimmer, I had a timing belt change, rear transmission seal change, central carrier bearing change. I also brought my Audi and had the transmission fluid change, transmission filter changed, outer tie-end rods, and shocks replaced. The price is reasonable and is fair. Knows his stuff, but does not really seem to work on your car since he has his other employees doing it. Had my brakes done there and a few days later my car started to make that nasty sound when you back up. Then he was telling me that my transmission was going out which it wasn't since the engine is really strong because I took it to Cobb tuning which is a place where they are really completely honest.
