I like to wear heels. A consequence of combining this with my love of walking places means I've often worn through the rubber stoppers on the end of my heel spikes. No problem, $8 and an afternoon at the cobbler always fixes them up perfectly. I took a pair of shoes to have re-stoppered (?) to Jericho Shoe Repair last year. The elderly gentleman did a quick repair and I was soon click-clacking my way around the office. Ten days passes and I start to hear that quiet tap of metal on tile that accompanies a worn-through stopper. I inspect the shoe to see the rubber has completely worn through. In 10 days. Having repaired a dozen pairs of shoes in this way over the years, I've never had a shoe fail on me so quickly. The runner-up clocks in at about three months. Something was obviously amiss so I returned with my shoes to Jericho Shoe Repair and explained that the shoes had barely been fixed before the right one had worn through again. Having seen an "if you're unhappy tell us" sign on the door, I was looking forward to a quick resolution. Instead, the cobbler presented me with a LAMINATED article about how terrible it is to walk in heels and then lectured me about how much weight was impacting on the heel when I walked. I always feel weird calling a person who fixes shoes a "cobbler". It sounds so archaic. And yet, here I am, preparing to tell you all about my favourite "cobbler". Nope. Still doesn't sound right... Ok. So Jericho Shoe Repair is by far my favourite shoe repair shop in the Kits/Point Grey area. Friendly service, great pricing, and if you tell then you need your favourite shoes back ASAP, they'll do what they can to fix them within a day or two (they tend to get pretty busy there). Doesn't seem to be any reviews here for awhile. The aforementioned older fellow is no longer the proprietor. He was eccentric, but maybe if I'd listened to his cranky advice, I wouldn't be in my current cast. (I'm not joking, either!) It's now owned by a nice, quiet couple. I take all of my shoes there, even if it is a bit out of the way. Many eons ago, I used to go in Dunbar until the "friendly" proprietor told me that my mom had beautiful eyes! She made me quit going there. I don't ask questions; I just quit going. I just had a grommet sewn back on my fave pair of MK boots here. It was about $12 dollars with tax, which seemed steep to me, but as every girl knows, it's tough to find reasonably priced, comfy yet fashionable boots that you can wear every day. I will never step foot in that place EVER again and I would recommend and advise everyone whoever is listening to go somewhere else. First time customer at this specific shoe repair shop. I drop off my boots about three weeks ago for a new lining at the base of my boots and new heal replacement. A man (owner) charged me $45 up front and told me it would be ready the following week. The day came. I pick up my boots which looked great, and drop off another pair needing the same work done. I was dealing with a women at this time. She also charged me $45 and gave me a slip for the next pick up date which was for the following week. I assumed that payment was for the second pair. That day came. When I was ready to take off, the lady stop me and ask for a payment... I gave her the slip she gave me and she told me that the slip was a receipt for the first pair and not for the second pair. My understanding was that the slip was for the second pair. In the end they charged me three payments of $45 and still I left with no receipt. I left very unhappy and frustrated. read more

I've been using Jericho Shoe repair for years, and enjoyed my chats with Leon who used to be the proprieter (and nice to see he's retired and hopefully enjoying his life). The new Asian couple who have taken over are absolutely amazing, I've had excellent work done to repair a spectacular pair of coveted sued boots I brought home from Italy, they're in better shape now that when they were new, and the charge was $11.20! I just tried this place for the first time and am quite happy. I asked them to replace the zipper on a favourite pair of boots, and they sewed it up instead, which was a lot cheaper. I also had a purse zipper fixed up. They did a great job. Very polite and friendly couple. read more

I have been going to the Jericho Shoe Repair for many years. Both the elder gentleman who originally owned the shop and the new owners have always been very kind and the repairs excellent. Recently I took a favourite purse to have the leather straps repaired. The new owner suggested a way that would save me money. The purse looks great and continues to hold A LOT of heavy stuff! I brought two pairs of boots here to have zippers replaced. (I didn't even know shoe repairs DID replace zippers!) I was very happy with the service and finished result. It cost $15 per zipper and my boots were ready for pickup in 3 days and that was spanning the New Years holiday. They even cleaned them for me. When I dropped them off, they noticed that the heel should be replaced on one of the pairs, but it was the pair that I wear less often and I didn't really have any more in my budget. I've had great service here every time. I've had topy put on my shoe soles a number of times and it's always impeccably done and reasonably priced. My favourite experience was when I brought in a pair of new, expensive boots I had purchased that were just a bit too tight to comfortably wear. It seems like some of the older reviews are for the previous owner(s). This place is now owned by a super sweet couple, and they do a wonderful job. I work at a shoe store which means I have purchased MANY shoes. As a result, I've been to a number of cobblers over the years and this place is great compared to most. I'm really hard on my shoes, but every time I get a pair back from this location they look brand new! The price may be steeper than other cobblers but it's definitely worth it in my opinion. (Also: they use Topy brand topys and also have Vibram soles available, just in case anyone is wondering). read more

Dishonest and incompetence shoe repair. I brought a pair of Tods shoes, and asked them to clean a tiny coin-sized beer drop one of the front shoes. Agreed on a $15 service fee, i was told to pick up a few days later. When the day comes, i was returned a pair of shoes with totally damaged and ruined. The suede was scratched terribly, the pure red color was somehow became darkish red, with all kinds of solution spots. The shoes was completely destroyed, and it costed me $526.10. This dishonest owner of Jericho Shoe Repair was refused to apologize, compensate. Even, he is not willing to discuss it. WOW, unbelievable! Currently i have filed a complain with better business bureau, hoping they will help me with this. If not, i definitely will sue them at no matter costs. This kind of business should be banned, in order to protect potential victims from them. By the way, until today, my shoes have not been returned. They never called, email, or whatever.
