Brought a softball glove here recently after some of the strings came loose. Being the good Yelper that I am, I searched Shoe Repair for my surrounding area and came across a half dozen stores nearby. Tony's shop is on West Boulevard between 44th and 45th, about two blocks walk from the Kerrisdale Community Centre. Free street parking can be found in the immediate area if not right outside. This was the second time I was having my glove repaired, so I didn't want to spend a whole lot on it this time around. I visited five cobblers in total and was quoted a one or two week turnaround by most. Being that softball season is almost underway, and practices are taking place every week, I needed faster service. Prices were all in the same neighbourhood, with the most expensive quote given by the largest shop which only promised a haphazard fix. No thanks! Tony took my glove in on Friday afternoon and had it ready for me first thing on Monday. His price was the best of the lot, and the turnaround could not be beat. His repair looks excellent, as you can see in the picture below. I'm very happy to have found his shop. Thanks Yelp! read more

I recently bought a pair of Christian Louboutin heels and was advised by the sales associate to get protective soles put on the bottom. I didn't want to take a chance with just any shoe repair shop since Louboutins don't come cheap so I did my research! I came across the amazing reviews for Tony's Shoe Repair shop so I called ahead to make sure they had a sole to match the distinct red color of the heels. They had two reds to pick from which was nice. I dropped my shoes off on Saturday and Tony said they would be available for pick-up on Monday. I was not in a hurry but it may be helpful for some to know that the turnaround time was short and quick! Before applying the sole, one needs to mark where it goes with these heels. You don't want it too short that it doesn't fully cover the part that will be touching the ground but you also don't want it too long so that it covers the distinct red bottoms you see while wearing the shoes. Tony did a great job taking this into consideration and applied just the right size of protective sole (see pictures). However, there are two things I am extremely disappointed with: 1) On one of the heels (left side), he left pen marks. This is something that is so easy to avoid, which is why it's so disappointing (see picture). When I asked if there is anything that can be done about this, he gave me a very short response, "No." I was surprised at how little he seemed to care. So I asked again if there really wasn't anything he could do. He said, "If you try to remove them, you will remove the colour on the bottom." 2) On the other heel (right side), he seemed to have accidentally ground into the shoe where he wasn't supposed to. This is worrisome to me because that is the kind of mistake one makes when doing careless work (see picture). If you want someone who is quick and inexpensive and does an average job then this is the place! But please be careful if you are looking for someone who pays attention to the finer details. You may want to avoid if you have brand new luxury shoes. Besides the job itself, his response to my concerns was very short and unapologetic, which is unfortunate because good customer service can significantly change a person's experience. read more

He has resurrected several purses and pairs of shoes for me that I thought had seen their last breath. I brought a house guest there who had a purse strap failure a few hours before she needed to catch a flight and he fixed it on the spot for a pittance. If you love fine shoes and purses as I do, the economics of repair makes a lot of sense. His repair work is seamless and he delivers when promised. This man can fix anything. No matter how hard I stomp around the city, no matter how many times I try to show off how I can run really quickly in 3 inch heels, no matter how many times I kick things in fits of rage, Tony saves me. He can rebirth even the most pathetic shoe and has saved my soles more times than I can count. He is not cheap but he is cheerful, efficient, dedicated and a cobbler only elves can aspire to. He's also honest and if it would cost more to fix a shoe than he thinks said shoe is worth, he'll tell you. They could call him "Truthful Tony" but I don't think anyone does. read more

Affordable and quick, however the job was a little sloppy. I got my shoes soled and tapped. Hot glue strings were attached to the leather. Which was kind of annoying, considering that my shoes were never worn. But that's not going to deter me from returning, given how reasonable Tony's pricing and turnabout time is. It only took a day! Once I brought in a leather belt to have an extra hole punched on it and no charge! I asked 'You sure?' and he just walked back to his workstation - definitely a man of few words. So I got him an egg tart from next doors. Recently he repaired a punctured outsole on a pair of leather boots with those Topy pads on the heels and it was $16. Awesome. read more

Excellent job on my boxing boots! I needed to change the outsole of my boots because of a hole, and it was tricky because for boxing we don't want too much grip nor too much slippery outsole. The shoemaker looked with for 5 min to find the best fit, and when I pick my boots a few days after, it was just perfect. I've used my boots for a few weeks now and they seem like new. This guy is a crook and a cheat. I brought him a pair of boots to re-sole and the job was so shoddy that they wore out and the heals even fell off just 6 months later. I kindly asked him what he could do to rectify the situation and he began yelling that he wasn't responsible for the materials that he uses. I would never recommend to anyone. read more

While he charges less for key-cutting than the hardware store next door's, it definitely comes at a cost. Had some keys cut here and one of them can't even go into the keyhole. So i brought it back the same day and rightaway Tony just flat out denied that was his key, in front of another customer in the shop. Wow. When i told him i was there just couple hours ago and there's really no point of denying he told me to come back when he's done for the day which I did and he finally solved the problem by grinding the key down to reduce the profile. So, try here at your own risk OR if you don't mind making like THREE trips just to have some simple keys cut. read more

i don't know about this place. very ugly and old inside but i guess you can't knock a shoe repair shop for gross looks. i went and brought in a pair of heels today. he was really nice and agreed to have them done in 2 hours for me. the back side of one heel had the material gone and the plastic from the inside of the heel is now showing. also the piece of rubber that he put on the bottom is really high and now the shoes are a lot higher than the low heel they originally had. a definite noticeable difference. read more
