We actually found ourselves with more than enough meat and wanting more rice/sides. The chicken and ribs were the stars of the show, but the pork was overseasoned and skippable. Confit, flashed fried, and Nashville Hot esque doused jerk chicken? Chicken prepared in large portions, making freshness concerning. Plantain turning rancid. Small portion of rice and peas with very little to no coconut milk. Promotes oxtail on social media, but was out due to supply chain issue? Chicken on the bone that has a muted brown/tan bone is not fresh chicken. Chef seems to be formally trained and very proud of himself. Served items for up charge, not the service I prefer. read more

Excellent slow-cooked meat with killer sides. Would highly recommend the jerk pork - it has that light crispy jerk layer on the outside with moist, slow cooked interior and some really good spice/flavor on it. A light drizzle of the hot sauce and cream sauce that comes with it makes it even better. Chicken and sides were also excellent. The major problem with the review was I paid $60+ for this food and I got 3 ribs and 2 small quarters of chicken. No option on sides. I ordered Jerk Rib Plate and honestly the meat was good. I would recommend the meats for sure. The portion of the meat was also decent compared to some other hyped up places. But the side were meh. I ordered the macaroni and cheese cause it was recommended by some of the reviewers. It's oily and isn't that flavorful. The side that comes with the plate had hard grains that tasted like old rice. Coleslaw was decent and paired well with the meat. My recommendation is to order the meats separately with a side of coleslaw. Service was good. Decided to try the new location of Jerk Shack. I love West Indian food but had been to the other location for take out during COVID-19 and the fish I ordered did not travel well. I also don't usually order jerk anything as once you have had jerk at Boston Bay in Jamaica, well nothing else comes close. Some say that is where jerk originated. This place did not have my Jamaican go-to , curried goat, so decided to try the jerk pork. It was more like a somewhat spicy pulled pork. Probably okay but would not order again. I saw that this place opened up in the neighborhood so I had to check it out! I got the jerk fried chicken plate that came with coleslaw, red beans and rice, fried plantains and the portions were huge! Maybe the largest chicken leg I've ever seen. The meat was super well seasoned and still moist. I also loved the fried plantains that came with dipped in the garlic sauce that came with. I also got the mac n cheese to try and it was super flavorful. The staff was super friendly and gave great recommendations on which things to order. The restaurant itself is mostly made up of the kitchen and counter, but there are a couple tables inside as well as quite a few tables up for grabs in the building's courtyard (but they aren't necessarily reserved for the restaurant). I could NOT stop thinking about the black beans here. Spicy and savory with chunks of chorizo in there. I mean, it's perfection. I've never looked forward to eating leftover beans before. Oh, and the ribs are life-changing. They are the perfect texture. So tender and juicy. Their spice rub is genius. Whoever came up with it has to win an award or something because it's spicy, smokey, and works in perfect harmony with grilled meat. Changed my anniversary plans last minute and ended up grabbing dinner here with my husband in favor of a stuffy Italian restaurant. I ordered the jerk chicken platter and when I went to pay for it and get my chains back, they didn't have no change in the store. I told him to keep the three dollars. It was just one person back there cooking the food. They need to add more plantings and add more sauce on the slaw the beans and rice was dry and burnt. I might think about going again. I hate giving one star reviews and I was really hoping to like this place, but I literally can't remember eating a piece of dark meat that dry (or any kind of meat, really)!. For the amount they are charging there needs to be more quality control on what comes out of the kitchen and how long they hot hold their food. The food was so delicious! We had the jerk chicken platter and grilled shrimp platter with a side of sweet plantains and a side of tostones, and washed it down with some of the WHAP. Plenty of seating inside and outside, the restaurant was very clean and smelled divine! The only critique I have is that the menu posted online is impossible to see on a phone, hard to see on a computer, and is even hard to see in person because of the super black background with white print. if you're looking for a place full of spice and authentic food this is it. may I add I am a very white person and this hit all the right spots(there hot sauce that they give you for free is HOT but the burrito was mild allowing you to dictate your spice level). I wish they had more locations but this one is perfectly located with a ton of seating and safe parking location. I got the burrito, and sadly had to continue work after eating because it was huge and I needed a nap. their meat is so tender and the burrito was oozing out sauce, so hot and fresh. the staff went above and beyond to help me pick what was right for me, as they have a huge menu and everything looked good. portions are huge, staff were amazing and it was super clean especially with the door being open during the rain storm today.
