    Salmon meal
    Diane L.

We came here based on a recommendation from a friend. We were disappointed the quality of the food. I ordered the salmon meal and my friend had the fried shrimp meal. She added an extra side of plantains, greens and Mac-n-cheese. The issue was the salmon lacked flavor. The rice and peas and plantains were clearly old food that they had reheated. Seeing pictures of other plantain orders on this app lets me know that what we had we old and likely had been reheated several times. The greens and Mac-n-cheese were good. We also really liked the hibiscus drink. The service was friendly. We won't return because the plantain and rice and peas at a Caribbean restaurant is huge part of what we were looking forward to.Our total cost was $105. with tax and tip.

We happen to be in the neighborhood and decided to stop here. Please note that the actual restaurant does not sit where you can see it from the street so if you google it, it is in the area where it says you reached your destination, but you would have to park and then walk into the opening space of that area to find it. Has very limited in-house seating and your orders come regardless and it to go containers. One downside for that day is the order that I initially wanted it was salmon. They did not have it and they did substitute it with no charge for something different. I selected the soft crab and grilled shrimp plate. My husband got the chicken and rib plate and I'm not really sure what my son got but he did get a side of greens and macaroni. I can say that I was very much impressed with the seasoning on the meat of the shrimp and the crabs. I never had soft crab or ate a crab hole, but it was very much seasoned and good. I did not care for the coleslaw or the rice. I ordered a size of greens and the greens were very much seasoned and good as well.

Amazing food and I love how kind the owner is. He always makes a point to greet customers and make them feel special. The food is amazing and they have this hot honey that I'm obsessed with. Every time I run out, I got to grab some more. Definitely a gym in the central district.

I came right at opening time. I parked in the retail parking area of the garage and had no issues. It's easy to find and the distance between the garage and the restaurant is extremely walkable. Restaurant is open with ample seating. It has a casual ambiance and is in the middle of the central district. Just the smell alone is enough to have your mouth watering. I was helped right away and the service was awesome. My food was fresh, flavorful and hit all the spots I didn't know I had. When I tell you that Mac and cheese was so cheesy, I mean every bit of it. This is not some boxed stuff or a brick of Mac n cheese. This is somebody aunty Mac and cheese with jerk seasoning. The portion sizes make sense for the price and the quality of the food is so high, you almost feel guilty for not paying more. I highly suggest you run, don't walk to the Jerk Shack Kitchen. That man in there know what he doing. P.S. He's fyyyyne yall! Nothing like a meal and a show.

Casual counter-order restaurant with a small menu of a dozen or so meal & sides. I've only been here 1x so far and I had the $15 Jerk Chicken Burrito. This thing was BIG! A large grilled burrito with juicy chicken (seasoned but not spicy hot), a garlic tuum-like sauce, rice+red beans, and a coleslaw mix for crunch. The burrito also came with hot sauce on the side which added a nice kick similar to a cholula hot sauce. I'll be back to try some of their platters.

If you are going to test the laws of physics on how much taste your body can handle this is definitely not the first place you want to go. the grade 5 professional level of flavor they serve at Jerk Shack Kitchen is not for amateurs. There is somewhere between 2 to 3 metric tons of taste per bite so you might get an overdose of flavor, be forewarned, now that thou is warned and please note that the amount of flavor in this food is illegal and at least thirteen states and 9 Providence's in Canada. The staff are friendly and the portions are very good while you sit and eat and making food, they be listening to music might be true what they say happy employees make better food. You have been warned

I'm a fan of this restaurant. It's in a great location and has excellent food that is bursting with flavor. I love that the kitchen uses scotch bonnet peppers. We had the jerk lamb plate, jerk ribs plate, and the jerk chicken sandwich. I'll have check out the oxtail special when it gets back on the menu. There is a cool relaxed atmosphere and everyone was friendly.

You will find the Jerk Schack tucked around the building. When you walk in the counter to order is right below the menu board. I ordered the jerk chicken which was good. They make the jerk seasoning in house so it does not taste like the typical jerk chicken but don't get me wrong it has a good flavor and juicy. I had the coconut drink (I forgot the name) that was really good.

I feel like there really aren't a ton of places to have Caribbean food and Jerk Shack makes a great introduction. The building has some limited retail parking that can be a bit tight, but I managed to snag the last spot on a Friday night around 6:30 PM. The actual restaurant itself only has 3 tables inside, but there are some extra ones outside that were clean and good vibes at least in the summer. Jerk Ribs (3.75): The ribs were actually fantastic - fall off the bone and super flavorful. The sides were a lot rougher; the rice and beans were cold, bland, and kinda felt not cooked enough. The plantains I expected to be crispy, but they were kinda just big, chewy logs that weren't the most pleasant. Soft Shell Crab Sandwich (4.25/5): There was a bit too much bread ratio wise for my preference, but the crab was super crunchy and seasoned to perfection. The fries were insanely dusted, which I really appreciated as well.

Would absolutley recommend. I read a lot of Yelp reviews on JSK before ordering because I haven't had it since it was Jerk Shack located in Belltown. I ordered the soft shell crab plate for delivery and loved it. What a treat to have all the different flavors and textures of the crispy juicy seasoned crab, a simple limey crunchy slaw, subtly spiced jerk rice, and sweet caramelized plantains all on one plate! I read a lot of reviews that were dissing the rice, but I enjoyed it. It definitely had that jerk flavor to it, yes it was subtle but it was a great compliment to the very flavorful seasoned crab and tangy sauces. Every element balanced together for the perfect satisfying meal. Can't wait to order this again.

the SOFTSHELL CRAB HERE IS A MUST TRY. They were perfectly fried; crunchy and crispy on the outside with the center perfectly soft! The green sauce for them pairs amazingly with them as well. The jerk fried chicken was also perfectly cooked and very juicy, highly recommend the proteins here. However, the rice and beans as well as the salad were lacking compared to other Caribbean spots in Seattle... the rice and beans were exceedingly dry and inedible to me. The slaw came without sauce but garlic and hot sauce were available on the side, very basic. I would love to try their sandwiches, as maybe the other carb option would be less dry. The service was friendly and quite fast and the half indoor half outdoor seating was BEAUTIFUL on a warm summer evening - highly recommend coming for dinner in the summer :)

Jerk shrimp plate and jerk Mac n cheese

I wanted to give this place a try as I love Caribbean food and just learned about it. It's located in the Central District. There is a limited parking in a small parking garage, maybe a total of 6 retail parking spaces. Otherwise you'll have to find parking in the street. I ordered the Jerk Shrimp plate. I chose fried shrimp over baked. It was delicious and very flavorful! The plantains were sweet and the cole slaw was good. I did not care for the rice and peas, it was very bland. I also had a side of Mac n cheese and it was tasty! The in house lemonade was tart. I was there with family. My daughter had the jerk fish plate with the same sides as me and really liked it, she said it was flavorful but not the rice. My Aunt had the jerk rib plate and she did not like it at all. She said it was bland, had no flavor. She also ordered the jerk chicken and did not like it. I tried her jerk chicken and I agree. The jerk seasoning was different. I wouldn't order it again. Oh and she didn't like the rice either. My son had the jerk burrito and enjoyed it. Service was slow. They only had one cook and it took about 40 minutes for our food to come. But the staff was really cool despite being busy and understaffed. Overall I would suggest sticking with seafood plates and burrito. I would order the meat by the pound and get Mac and cheese and plantain as my sides. I would try their food again but stay away from the chicken and ribs.

Food - we did take out for the jerk Mac n cheese and my partner got the beans with pork. We liked both and would definitely order again! Service - they packaged things securely and effectively! Ambiance - N/A because takeout

I find it annoying when jerk seasoning isn't spicy enough. The seasoning tastes even spicier when I drink water, and the heat spreads. So good! I was also happy they use boned chicken, which is more flavorful. I asked about veggies, that is $2 extra. Oxtails plate, add rice & peas, $24 + $1 - 5 Stars With beefy stock, these oxtail pieces are well-seasoned and paired well with root vegetables. A small salad and the rice & peas are a good match to the oxtail. I enjoy seeing oxtails used in different recipes. Everything arrived at once rather than in courses, but it didn't take away from the experience. Every dish was packed with flavor. The jerk chicken was the standout. Tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned with warm, balanced spices :: it was easily the highlight of the meal. I received a promo for $5 off so I tried to use it the previous time, but she didn't know how to apply it. Then another time when I order The Caribbean Plato with pulled roasted pork, when I got home, I discovered the wrong type of meat (grilled pork instead of pulled pork). For these reasons, I didn't go back for a long time. Today, I went again to get take out for my visitors. I called in the order so I didn't have to wait, but Gisela didn't understand my order and kept getting it wrong. I ordered 3 Caribbean Plato with pulled pork, and 1 Caribbean Plato with chicken thigh, but she kept repeating the wrong order back to me (2 pork, instead of 3, wrong type of meat, etc), so I tried it again and again, still no comprendo. I got frustrated and told her that I would just come in person to order. I was in a hurry, but I had no choice. When I got there, I ordered the same thing, but this time, I gestured the type of pork I wanted, using my hands to show pulled and tried to explain that I wanted the shredded kind, not the solid kind). Someone was with me so he heard my order in plain English. As I was waiting for my order, I decided to ask her once more just to be sure that it wasn't the grilled pork bc she made that mistake last time. Then she said my meat was grilling now. I was alarmed since they don't get the pulled pork from the grill. I told her that I wanted PULLED ROASTED PORK, not the solid grilled patty kind. She said something in Spanish to the guy who was putting my order together and he showed me a sample of the pulled pork so I said "YES" that's the one I want. She said they were already cooking the grilled pork. When I told her that she was giving me the wrong order, she said "it's too late". I was so upset so I said, "why is it so hard to understand my order?" Pulled pork is pulled pork, not grilled pork. I never even mentioned the word "grilled". A guy came out from the kitchen so I explained myself and he said what I want is the pulled roasted pork and I said, "that's what I ordered". She tried to explain something to him in Spanish, but he told her to just give me the pulled pork and I was on my way. She just ruined my day, and I could feel my blood pressure rising. I don't think I will ever return again. It's too hard to explain the right kind of meat to Gisela. Dining out and getting take out should be a pleasant experience, not a stressful one.
