If you aren't moving, but a friend is, tell them about Myers Movers. Now to the details.... I really don't like moving. I feel exposed and vulnerable every time I pack everything that makes a house, my home, into a U-Haul and drive it around the country. Granted, the pack is the critical part on a self-move. But the unpack can be just as damaging, navigating the doors, turns, etc. That's what I had Myers Movers do for me. I can't say enough about Joe Myers and the professional, high-quality work he did. My 5 quick reasons for using Joe Myers are: First, Joe followed up a couple of days prior, to ensure that he had the right time and that things were still a go. That's just damn good business. Second, I pulled the 26' U-Haul into my driveway late the night before. I had no further desire to be a truck driver and turn "the rig" around. Joe did it gladly, with great care, given that I'd "broken the seal" on the tight pack in the back by removing some things prior to his arrival. Third, they were so damn polite, I felt like I was dealing with my 19th century British butler. Fourth, they worked efficiently, took direction on every piece/box, worked quickly but never compromised on taking care with every piece they unloaded. Fifth, they offered to help with everything from the sectional couch assemblage, to the bed frames, to disassembling an unwanted desk left by the previous owner. The basic mantra was this, if you need help with this move while we're here, we'll do it. Now, a couple of things to keep in mind. Myers is not the cheapest. But do you really want cheap when you're moving the family heirlooms? Besides, you're looking at about $25-$30/hour more for two guys. That's a rounding error in most moves and well worth it. Also, they do charge a travel fee. I believe it was $20, but I didn't pay because I'd gotten a referral from another mover (again, good business sense on Joe's part). I was a little surprised given the fact that the move location is literally a mile from their office address. * I apologize to the few of you who are suffering a questioned state of deja-vu on reading this opening. Yes, it's the same text as in my Smooth Moves review. But, I don't reckon many will actually read both reviews, so to those who are here, reading this now, my deepest gratitude. If you care to identify yourself, I'll gladly UFC a bunch of your reviews as pay back (like I didn't already).

I found this company on Yelp and read the review that was posted and since it was only 2 miles away…read morei really thought would be the perfect match. When I called however I was stunned at how abrupt/unhelpful the woman I spoke with was. I ended up not being able to used Myers Movers and even felt compelled to leave a negative Yelp about my experience (and sent an email to the company). It was literally only a couple of hours later - the manager/owner, Joe, called me personally to apologize and explained that it was a super busy day with only one person answering phones at that time. He was incredibly polite just as the review before mine mentions, and because of him I have to update my review and give Myers positive marks for going out of their way to make sure that everything was good. So although they could not help me with this particular move - as the previous post says, they are very helpful and polite and good customer service goes a long way in my book.

On time, responsive and respectful.....so cautious with all our belongings and brought a sofa from the third floor down a difficult stairway in 5 minutes without any stress or hesitation.....other movers had struggled with same sofa before. This moving company has completely not taken responsibility of a water pipe they broke when we…read moremoved in. They were trying to disconnect the previous owner's washer/dryer, turned off the water with too much strength and the pipe burst. Instantly there were leaks to the lower floor, walls, master bedroom etc. Had to get emergency water damage people (Boss disaster) to come out, costs more than $2,000. Also had to have floors redone, costs more than $1,000), wall and paint repairs, costs more than $700, and 5 days of high powered fans throughout house to dry out (expensive energy bill). After multiple attempts to have company contribute to bills for the damage they caused, company has stopped responding.

(1) John did not come in advance to see what needed to be moved, or to give me a final estimate. He came AFTER the move to tell me that they couldn't move the piano and that I needed to get someone else to do it. As a result, it was another two months till the piano was finally moved! (2) In addition, the estimate he gave me over the phone was almost doubled by the time the move was finished. I paid only $3,000 less for an in-city move, than for the interstate move we made the following year. (3) The workers were not supervised. They obviously hadn't been trained to move fragile antique furniture. Three valuable pieces were damaged, one a delicate 200+ year-old corner cabinet. The worker had just thrown a pad over it and didn't even secure it. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. John did get the pieces fixed, although the handle of a beautiful Asian cabinet is still missing. John was a nice person. The workers worked at the speed of light. (Too fast, I think in retrospect.) But I regret having chosen this company.

Staff members prior to the move were very efficient, and easy to work with. Chris was absolutely patient, and very accommodating in scheduling and rescheduling due to changes in the unit I was being relocated too. The day of the move, a Penske truck pulled up with more than enough ample space to move me, it was actually to big. One man jumped out of the passenger side. I asked him if he wanted me to move my car as I was holding two parking spaces, and he said not a single word. He looked me dead on in the eye and did not reply...weird. The driver jumped out, came around and introduced himself followed by another guy, and additional introductions were made. All went well...or so I thought. The guys wrapped everything carefully which made me feel more at ease. They only had large items to relocate since we had already moved lighter items the day before. The guys set up everything moved into the new unit, and the driver (nicer one), even reconnected my washer and dryer. This was not done by them a few years ago. I was advised they could not do it at that time, so I was a happy camper having this service available to me. I noticed after they left that all of my dresser drawers were off track...a small thing considering that was the only thing I had to correct. Anyhow while taking out the dresser drawers, I noticed a metal rod looking thing stuffed inside one of the dressers with clothes. I didn't know what it was for. I thought maybe it was placed by the moving company on accident. Upon further inspection while putting the drawers back on track my daughter in law and I noticed that they broke a part that is bolted into the dresser for the actual drawer to go on track. The metal portion that they broke off entirely from the drawer, we compared to the other drawers, I only know to describe as the track a train would maneuver on, without it....the train would not be on track. We figured a way to put the metal rod that runs along the bottom portion of the drawer back so that we could get the drawer on track. We were able to successfully do so, but because they also broke the portion that is bolted into the dresser, it's wobbly. The only way to break the rod off and portion bolted inside of the actual dresser is to attempt to remove it several times by force..... I didn't make a huge deal because the dresser isn't falling out entirely when opened, but what bothered me was the fact that they KNOWINGLY broke it, stuffed the broken off rod in the drawer and said ABSOLUTELY nothing. I was in each unit during the move and feel that they should have told me or told the company. As I stated my crew that moved me before a few years ago was fanatical, not sure what occurred with this crew, and the fact that my dresser drawer was broken and clearly acknowledged by the rod left in the drawer which came off of the bottom, and not communicated to me was not a professional thing to do. UPDATE: I increased this review by 2 stars because the owner reached out to me personally to apologize and offer reconciliation by having someone to come out to take a look, tighten up the dresser track, along with a refund amount, and a credit towards a future move. I received a feedback email from them, replied and was contacted within ten minutes by one of the company owners. That is excellent service, and this was closed knowing that the company values their customers.
