Why oh why did I lot read these one star reviews before I hired this horrible company. Due to a miscommunication (or frankly lack of communication), I had no idea what time the truck was arriving on move in day. I had to dash away for an emergency, but was coming right back. I had instructed the movers about where most large items would go. While I was gone (30 minutes truly) the driver begins harassing me via text, call, etc that he needs to leave ... he is SO rude that I don't feel comfortable speaking with him so I call the main number and no one answers (beyond unprofessional... it was a Monday!). They left without me personally signing off on the move, every single piece of furniture other than the beds is one the wrong room, and the most epic part is the company refuses to respond to any emails and when I finally got the owner on the phone she couldn't have been ruder and actually cursed at me. This company is a joke and they lost two items as well. I plan to make it my mission in 2025 to greatly impact their business and have already gotten the attention of the local realtor association with several phone calls and emails exchanged ... more to follow! Moving is always stressful and difficult so the right moving company is essential for your peace of mind. We chose Carolina Moving and Storage and they made our move a great experience. We got to know Al, John, Cedric, Reggie and several others, aces all of them. They were professional yet engaging. They worked nonstop and made sure to be careful with all of our stuff. We have actually moved too many times in the past 8 years and this is the first time nothing was damaged or went missing. But the real support came when it was time to deliver our belongings. There was a delay in closing the house we sold so we couldn't close on time in our new location. Deborah just took the pressure off and said when the house closes let her know and she will work out a delivery schedule. She wasn't even rattled when we had another false start. We are very please with our moving experience with Carolina Moving & Storage for several reasons. They showed up for all appointments on time (estimate, pick up, delivery). The communication with the office was thorough and friendly. The cost of the move was transparent and accurate. Our furnishings were stored in their climate controlled facility for 1 month and everything was delivered to the new property clean, un-damaged and free from odors. We had two different crews pick up and deliver our furnishings. Both crews were hard working, took good care with our items, professional and most importantly work well with each other! I highly recommend Carolina Moving & Storage services. From setting up services to the actual move, everyone was courteous and friendly. I could not have asked to have a more professional and courteous group of men to move my furniture from Anderson to Beaufort. They carefully packed up my belongings and delivered them without damage. My furniture is very heavy and both locations involved stairs and tight corners. They unloaded my storage units in Anderson and turned in the locks and keys so I didn't have to wait for them to finish. They delivery occurred as promised and the men worked tirelessly to finish in a timely manner. I am posting this review after using this company for a 2nd time. I used them the 2nd time because we had no problem without first move in 2017. Our estimate was for a 3 day move which seemed too long. We had packed almost all of the house ourself & also had one of their staff come & pack what we didn't. The moving crew of 6 showed up on Thursday at about 10:00 with 2 trucks. Our home was 3200 sq ft. Two stories. We were literally moving 5 doors down the same street from our old home to a newly built house. We thought it would be simple... On Thursday they started to load the trucks. All seemed well. But at about 1:30 they started talking about being through for the day since they had a "hard week" & "they were tired". I was astounded. Hadn't we all had a hard week but not all of us were paid for it. And we still needed a bed taken to the new house! So I bargained with them to at least get the mattress even if they didn't move the frame. Which they did. They also informed us that they'd have a different crew the next day as it was their day off. Essentially day one they managed to move the 1st floor of our home leaving the 2nd floor & the garage for Friday. We personally moved all our art (over 100 pieces), lamps & knick knacks in our cars & took them in the new house. So that was an enormous amount of work that they did not have to do that was precise and delicate. And as such, we were personally running a great deal that day & the next to accomplish the move as planned. On Friday, 3 of the same crew returned & complained wildly about the fact that they were working on their day off. I had 4 Carolina Movers staff members to finish off the move that day. They worked as needed & by mid-afternoon they said that they were through & had everything out of the old house. I was standing in the driveway of the new house when they said this & naively did not make them go back to the old house with me to confirm this was true nor did I check their trucks either day before they left. I tipped they crews each day & made sure that they had Gatorade to drink. I treated them fairly & kindly. Then came the rude awakening. Later when we went back to the old house we discovered that they had left large & heavy boxes in the house. A large & delicate decorative dried planter that required multiple people to move it & a large or ample vehicle to move it. Lots of stuff in the garage. Just a bunch of things sporadically throughout the home and property. We continue to discover that we were missing boxes & items from our personal belongings. I marked my boxes clearly & precisely so I knew what I wanted to unpack & where it went. Accordingly - anyone would know what was in most of them. And lastly, we had furniture damage. The most heartbreaking was the damage to a family heirloom that is over 300 years old that I specifically asked them to take care in moving & I watched as they slid it across the pavement vs picking it up & as such the wood at the bottom of the piece is all splintered & there are other spots on it that are damaged due to sheer force. We personally moved the marble top from it out of care & concern & I can see that our instincts were right on track. We phoned the owners - the Neal's - & asked that they send a crew back to help us move the remaining items. We had a cleaning lady on that Saturday because the old house closed on Monday and the new owners took possession. We literally had no flex time in between. We had to get the items out of the way for the cleaning woman. We didn't have the proper vehicles. We drive sedans and we're older. We never got a return call. Thank God for our neighbors who all rallied and helped us move everything out and off the property. We got very creative about moving some of the heavy & awkward items. It was arduous work that we shouldn't have been doing. When I spoke the Neal's I find out that the staff/crew work 6 days a week & that the guys saying that Friday was their day "off" was a bunch of nonsense. I suspect that they said it because they had already helped themselves to some of our belongings & didn't want to return to our move. And we were so stupid that we never caught on or thought to be so bold as to look in the trucks! It never occurred to us that we'd treat people kindly & they'd steal or manipulate us. Obviously we come from a different era. So we put in an insurance claim and today the reply came. It's priceless & the reason I am sitting here reviewing Carolina Movers. The insurance company - IAT, Transguard Insurance Company - has stated to us that "since there were no written exceptions taken to any item as missing, that it appears that everything was tendered for shipment". Well that would mean that I unpacked everything with the crew present. Or that they had made a manifest for all my boxes - which they didn't. So - we are not being reimbursed for our missing items. The following questions may be a prudent guide to to consider when entrusting the safeguard of your precious belonging to CAROLINA MOVERS. 1. Would you hire a company who drops off your belongings to your home and will not wait at the residence for the packages to be unpacked. Rather they shove a bill of lading at you for signature in order that they vacate ASAP? DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE LEAVE YOUR HOME UNTIL UNPACKING EVERY BOX (even if it takes them three days, which is what we were told it should take us, and thus were told they weren't going to look for items until that time period expired) AND VERIFYING THAT EACH AND EVERY ITEM IS ACCOUNTED FOR AS THEY POINT TO THE SIGNATURE ON THE DELIVERY DOCUMENTS AS YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR GOODS. You will see that in responses to other negative reviews. 2. Once you discover, an extremely expensive (obvious item, part of a set) is missing and you call the company as the truck is pulling away (before it leaves your plantation) do you expect that the company could contact/ stop the truck which is in sight to retrieve your property? 3. Would you expect the moving company to tell you that they would proactively look for your $1,600.00 Tiffany Lamp (one of a set) sometime next week and never get one single return call about the whereabouts of your property over a 3 month period? 4. Would you do business with a company that tells you "you don't know how it works, your getting nothing from us in the end"? There was no search for our belongings and no report back to us, documented or otherwise. She was 100% right, we don't understand why someone would take our property not not return it, in most States that constitutes larceny, does it not? Because the delivery documents were signed, wouldn't you take the only resource you had and stop payment for failure to deliver a service? 5. Would you do business with a company that provides you with a phone number and when you call the number to retrieve your belongings, you are told that your call is imposing on the female who is getting personal matters addressed at an appointment allegedly outside the confines of her business, during business hours? Would you expect that after several promises to return calls that you might at least get one call during the 3 day period following the move? 6. Do you want to do business with anyone who lies to you over and over again? Would you expect when someone says they will "check the truck" and "check the warehouse" where items were stored for over a year and call us back, you might get a call back? 7. Is it a criminal act to take another persons belongings and not return them? 8. Is the willful and intentional deceptive practice to concealing another persons belongings an actionable offense? 9. Do you want to do business with two women who appear to be incapable of safeguarding your belongings and refuse to return or address lost missing or stolen property? In my opinion, You may want to consider hiring another moving company, no matter how bad or good their ratings may seem to be, entrusting the safeguard of your belongings to Carolina Moving & Storage Company is akin to simply leaving your property in the street unsecured. The upside to that is you would not have to pay someone for storage and moving fees to take your property and not have it returned to you. We used Carolina Moving to ship furniture for a new house in SC. We ordered our furniture from Boston, had it shipped to Carolina Storage, and they stored it and delivered to our new house. Susan's communication with me during the process was awesome. She told me every time a piece of furniture arrived to the warehouse and continuously verified with me what was due to come in. The delivery to my house was on time and extremely professional. There were 3 drivers and they were kind, professional, and neat. This process was scary for us being so far away, but Carolina made the process easy and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for this kind of service. read more

DO NOT USE Carolina Moving and Storage in Beaufort, SC! They damaged a 1960's piano that my Grandmother had given me, a bookshelf, a wall hanging that they had packed, and kitchen items! Most detrimental, they damaged my newly installed hardwood floors in my new home - even though I had told them about my new floors! Then when the owner came to inspect, he had a VERY BAD ATTITUDE and was VERY RUDE to me. I had to have my entire hallway refinished and they would only pay half of the cost! They accused me of lying about the damage claim! I had to pay in full before they would even unload the truck and claim damages before I could unpack! This move cost me a lot of money! Wow, cannot believe how bad this move was. Don't know if (Carolina) they have anything to do with hiring the driver but he was the worst ever. He was rude, ill prepared on directions, and you could not understand him becuase he had no teeth. He treated the local employees that were hired for the move in like dogs and I truly felt sorry for them. Was mean to my sister and my wife. This company would be better off to charge more and hire a better quality of employee. Moving is stressful enough and you certainly do not need a jerk to represent a company so poorly. The driver, loaders and unloaders did a good job, however, John is horrible! A child or better yet a monkey could pack better than John! Plus John LIED about us and LIED to us throwing us into a chaotic move from an already chaotic situation. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Their son, John, is one of the packers and when he isn't in your bathroom, he's on his Phone Facebooking. He doesn't have ANY idea how to pack and just throws EVERYTHING into boxes. He doesn't mark the boxes or correctly identify what is in them on the inventory. I found my jewelry box I bought in Iraq underneath all my personal trainer light weights. Nothing was wrapped or in ANY order. He took pictures off the wall and threw them in the boxes and placed more weights on them. The frames are broken and there is glass all in the box. His Cousin came over because no one bothered to pack the TV's when the movers came and had to keep packing the TV because he didn't know how and then forgot to get the serial number, so he had to repack it. I've been in the military 17 years and moved 7 times. This is BY FAR THE WORST MOVE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!! Almost everything I have is damaged in some way. read more
