Cheese steak sub with chips and a pickle and a long island iced tea
Renee B.

Great place. Great deals. My aunt and I had our nails done close buy and a lady suggested this place for us to have lunch. The front entrance is street parking. Make sure you have change because it is not a meter that accepts card payment. I decided to park on the back lot. You had to enter the lot thru Taylor Avenue. It was a little after noon when we stopped in. We entered in the rear entrance. You had to walk down just a couple of steps. We were greeted as soon as we entere. A few people were sitting at the bar. My aunt doesn't like sitting on bar stools so we sat at the regular tables. We were the only ones in the actually dining area. Our waitress was very polite. She made us aware of the specials. We both ordered a long island iced tea. I chose the shrimp salad wrap which came with a chip and pickles and I asked for hots on the side. My aunt ordered the cheese steak with chips and a pickle. Im not sure what those restaurant is like at night but, arriving a little after noon was great. I would say the food was a great price and the food was average. This is a good place if your on a budget.

Meatloaf and potatoes, with gravy

We weren't too sure if we were entering the right place, a huge brown door that looks like it belongs in a scary movie. So we opened it and it was the bar portion. Whew! We walked to the back into a spacious dining room, beautifully decorated and lots of natural knotty pine on the ceiling. Truly well done, and the ambiance there gave a homey feel. Some of the tabletops were cross sections of huge tree trunks. A nice touch. The menu was not overly ambitious. Simply breakfast and lunch. And there are daily specials. Our server, Cara, was well skilled and took care of the whole dining room with ease. Drinks and ordering were quick. My husband got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes were real potatoes and not the packaged type. I ordered the open faced hot turkey sandwich, and it came with fresh cut fries. I love fresh cuts. They made my day! Good food, good service, and the kicker was very reasonable priced meals, enough to take and enjoy again. The kitchen was quick and accurate. Everything was hot and fresh. We got out of there with 2 entrees and a soft drink for $21 and change, including tax. There was a larger group near us, and I loved to see all the dishes coming their was, I can say it was impressive. They do have an upper floor with tables and chairs, probably for parties. We were a bit unsure about where to park, so we parked at the corner on a lot in front of a crab house. The lady at the bar inside of JD' s Saloon said it was ok to park there. Street parking requires you to pay to park No doubt we'll be back.

Burgers with buddies following an impressive Orioles opening day 'W!'

Every few weeks or so, some friends and I visit local joints, quintessential to the Baltimore experience. There are usually four of us and it was my turn to pick the destination and I selected Jerry D's. The room, the mood, the food and service make the spots we have visited to this point unique. Three of the four of us arrived and were promptly seated and started off with draft and bottled beers. The former, $3. The latter $3.25. Not yesteryear prices but pretty darn impressive! Two of us ordered bacon cheeseburgers with small Caesar salads to start , and the other chicken and Murphy fries which have been a house staple for years! Long story short, the burgers were fresh and tasty and the chicken with the fries was 9.95. Burgers? 8.95! Fries in lieu of chips? Just 2.00! This place is a throwback to a simpler age and, to me, that's comforting. Almost like a club basement. Lest I forget, Tuesday means half-price burgers at this iconic spot!!

Hard to see but burger is black and it was cooked beyond well.

Have to go with one star because it was that bad. I know it's not a 5 star restaurant, but you're still paying for the food and service. New owners had very low bar to reach and couldn't pulling off. Waited 10 minutes to be waited on. 3 at table. I'll comment on my experience. My meal was simple. Cheeseburger/medium with Murphy fries on side. Took forever for food to arrive. Different server brought it. I realize the side of Murphys are fries and I keep trying to see our waitress. Couldn't get anyone and place wasn't that busy. Start eating, fries were soggy, burger well done and quite small. Finally waitress comes and to her credit offers to recook a burger but by then I ate most of it and didn't feel right. Why ask how you want burger cooked if the kitchen can't pull it off ? The topper was, ordered desert. Always enjoy their pineapple sundaes. They come in a tall bar glass and are totally delicious and generous serving. This arrives in a shallow bowl. I mean barely any ice cream. Pineapples piled to the side and the entire bowl covered in whip cream. We'd been going to other local restaurants but since Jerry's changed hands we decided to try it. Won't go back. Life's too short to be agitated when you go out.

Prime Rib
Charles R.

We met friends on a Saturday evening for dinner at Jerry D's - a mistake! Again, the restaurant was packed, and they were short staffed. We felt sorry for the servers who were running themselves ragged trying to please all the customers. What was good was our food. My wife and I ordered the Prime Rib - medium rare, and it was superb - generous size, perfectly cooked, and seasoned. One friend ordered the Hot Roast Beef and was not thrilled with it. Our other friend ordered the Hot Beef with fries - it came with mashed potatoes - he never did get his French fries. You really have to hire more staff before you lose your customers!

I will preface my review by stating that I have never had prime rib in my life, but damn was this a good meal. The prime rib was delicious and any time a restaurant has Rolling Rock you know it's gonna be a good restaurant. Love the prices and the ambiance, Jerry Ds is a lovely establishment.

The meatloaf

Can't rave enough about this meatloaf. Definitely a great Sunday dinner. And no other place you can get loose cannon bottle for $3. Cheap good food with great people.

Cool Baltimore vibe. Great to see everyone drinking on a weekday at 3:00 PM. Laidback place to have a few beers and get a crab cake.

The drinks were strong and the service was good, especially considering how busy it was. I got a buffalo chicken wrap and my date got a cheesesteak. The fries were sooooo good. Like boardwalk fries. The cheesesteak was great too, I had a few bites of it. The buffalo chicken wrap was pretty good. I think it needed more ranch but otherwise it was alright. And the prices are super reasonable. Overall a nice time and I'd definitely go back.

We sat at the end of the bar and had to wait a few minutes to order. They don't have a beer menu, so you will have to eyeball the drafts as you come into the bar. The music was loud old-skool hip hop, which I love. There was also some great R&B. They have two pool tables constantly occupied by players who had brought their own queues. It was fun to watch. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, the husband ordered wings and french fries. The chicken quesadilla was delicious, served with salsa and sour cream. The wings were a little dry but the fries were great. I was going to give Freddie's 4 stars until I woke up the next morning and saw the 18% gratuity charged to my bill. I had not seen it and had tipped 20% so my server got a large unintended tip. I will not be coming back to Freddie's but at least now I know how they roll.

By that time it's been about 35 min already. He said they told him they ran out of lamb chops and had to make some more. The driver couldn't wait because he had another delivery to make. I finally get my food. SIDE NOTE: Why do these delivery people continue to put your food on the ground after you specify them to knock or call. Even when you leave a tip? But anyway... I can tell that they ran out of prepared lamb chops because the ones I received were not seasoned at all. It seemed they tried to slap some sauce on it and grill it but all I tasted was grill char and bland borderline tough meat. The Mac and cheese saved my tastebuds. A little loose but at least I tasted sharp cheddar. The yams were okay nothing too special. I wanted to really like my food but I didn't and was very disappointed. Maybe this is a place you have to sit and dine in for. But I won't be in a rush to do.

I live about 30-40 min away, so imagine my surprise when I was told my order wasn't ready AND that they didn't know what I ordered because their GrubHub wasn't working. Ugh. The lady was nice, but I felt they could've called and let me know before I got there. I got the collard green egg rolls, crab egg rolls, lamb chop dinner (with Mac and cheese and green beans) and catfish tenders with fries. The food was okay. The flavor was good, but nothing unique. The portions were small considering the price, and overall I was just disappointed with my experience.
