Fried Whiting Fillet, macaroni and cheese, Collard Greens

This cozy little neighborhood soul food restaurant is full of charm and flavor. Let's talk about the unique apps. Has anyone ever heard of a collard greens egg rolls What about a Everything egg roll Me either Let's talk about the deliciousness of the collard green egg roll that takes the classically cooked greens and puts them in egg roll form with and amazing sauce that's slightly sweet with a little heat. Talk about kicking up a notch Then the Everything egg roll was like having Thanksgiving all in 1 roll. Collards, macaroni & cheese, and candied yams plus the dipping sauce. What stop the madness!! We also had the perfectly fried catfish nuggets starter which is served with the most amazingly seasoned fresh cut fries and an aïoli dipping sauce. Btw, these apps were made for sharing. The egg rolls come in 4's. I opted to the fried whiting entree with macaroni and cheese, and collard greens This was a good choice and in fact I had to take some home . I was totally full from apps. Let me also mention that this is a black owned family restaurant. The owner Phil is out on the floor helping to serve and adding a welcomed personal touch Our server Noel was amazing. Her personality is infectious and she added to the enjoyment my group had this evening. If you're in the area or even if you're not it's worth the trip.

I can't review the food because every time I try to order they wait an hour and cancel my order. Just unprofessional and really annoying.

The staff were so friendly. During our visit we had two waitress checking in on us through our dinner. I went for Baltimore restaurant week and I must say I enjoyed every. I started with the spicy crab dip which came with a big piece of garlic bread. It was delicious but I do feel like the dip could have had more of a crab flavor. Next I did the Chipotle maple salmon with cilantro rice, also very delicious along with the lobster shrimp salmon belly curry. WOW! Lastly the peach creme brulee tasted more like sweet potato but that's the only thing I didn't enjoy. Would definitely go back!

We were there at 7 on a Saturday night (we were a few minutes late because we had a little trouble finding parking) and there was one other couple there and a small birthday party in the other section, but that was it. Whatever they're doing here for dine in, they need to keep doing. It's amazing. If dine in is this good, their catering must be insanely good. Service was wonderfully attentive. We both did the retaurant week menu, which is a great deal for $45 per person. Between us, we got the Maple salmon, Teriyaki chicken (with truffle oil pommes frites), "unconventional Caesar" salad, chicken dumplings appetizer and Sweet potato bread pudding for dessert. Everything was honestly amazing and so tasty. The chicken was succulent and pulled apart easily and the fries were delightful. My wife loved her salmon. Our appetizers were great. The bread pudding too. We will be back! If you're around their neck of the woods, go. One post-script note:The menu is a bit tricky to look at online, because you have to download it to your phone/tablet/computer first, and that's just a smidge fiddly if you peruse prior to showing up. But that's not a Water For Chocolate thing, that's a technology thing.

I ordered the smothered pork chop dinner with a side of rice and gravy and collard greens, and I added add'l sides of sweet potato casserole and stuffing (for an additional fee for each.) Like I said, the smothered pork chops were extremely tender. I didn't even need a knife, I honestly could have used a spoon to eat them. The gravy could have used a tad more salt or chicken bouillon, but the flavor was good and the gravy had a good consistency. The collard greens were really good. I'm not sure whether or not they use meat, but I liked them. I absolutely loved the sweet potato casserole. It was very sweet, just like I like it. The cornbread dressing was good, but I should've gotten my gravy on top of it to keep it super moist. Next time I will do it with the gravy on top. There are steep steps to negotiate getting in so be careful. I got barbecue chicken with macaroni & cheese and green beans for my sister. I had a taste for turkey wings and ordered it with macaroni & cheese, of course, and sweet potatoes. The staff both on the phone when I called to confirm hours, since it was Super Bowl Sunday, and in person are great. It's a cute venue to get together and enjoy food and fellowship. I actually did a two step entering to the song that was playing. :-) My food was enough to share. I didn't want to be greedy. (smile) The macaroni and sweet potatoes are amazing. The turkey wings were delicious. I'll hold on the gravy next time. I like my poultry on the darker side. The number and address is already saved for a return visit. I'll be back Lord's willing. If you're looking for good food, stop in.
