This place IS A JOKE. This is not a theater. It's a run down, falling apart, GROSS excuse for a theater. We bought tickets for "The Office" and couldn't have been more disappointed. The seats are stained were so incredibly uncomfortable, had zero leg room and were (literally) falling apart. My seat had 1 armrest, the other one was broken. I think we were the only people foolish enough to pay for tickets. The people around us were parents and friends of the "actors." As for the show itself, it was as if the actors had never even seen the show. Weird mannerisms that had absolutely no resemblance to the actual characters, women playing the rolls of men and a set/costumes that appeared to have been purchased from goodwill or found at the dollar store. The AC wasn't turned on until after intermission and it was like a sauna. It was so incredibly hot that myself and a few others were fanning ourselves with the playbill. I wanted to leave at intermission but my husband didn't want to be rude, so we stuck it out. Absolute waste of money and 2 hours of our life/trip. The only actresses that had any talent whatsoever were the women that played Angela and Michael. In summary...I'm assuming the good reviews were written by the friends and family members of the actors and the employees. This play screamed Jr. High/High school play. It was not something that should have been charged for. read more

I had no problems with this theater. Sure, it's a small off Broadway venue that is a bit rough around the edges. You won't see any major big budget shows here featuring top line performers. The street it's on is not all that glamorous. Yet, the theater is intimate with a nice view of the stage. Spund was good. Seating was comfy with nice leg room. The air conditioning was cold and refreshing. Bathroom was decent. They are also adhering to the covid rules as per the city. You can see some good talent here in various productions on a budget. Nothing special, but still entertaining. We caught "Friends - The Musical Parody" here the other night as a Yelp Elite event, and it was a fun show with plenty of laughs. Would definitely see another show here. read more

Came here to see "love actually" and liked this cozy theater. We sat on the front row and saw the show up and personal. Strongly recommend

A good space to put up a play, home of the fantastics. The sight lines are moderate, and you feel close to audience. Its a 3/4 round space so don't use this for proscenium. Here its a great space for vocal cabaret etc. its very tough to do a play here. A modern play yes but with no space for classical. Also you cant do anything to the space because the fantastics runs here so you are very limited in production. read more

It's an off-broadway show that is really small and a bit ghetto, but the 4 stars is for the actors who did a "fantastick" job with their acting and singing: Orbach theater - 2 stars - this theater is really small and old. It's only 1/4 the size of a broadway show. The elevator to the 3rd floor can only fit 6 people at a time, and while we were watching, the ceiling had loud thumps, probably from another show above us. The bathrooms were clean, but it had rolls of paper towels standing on each sink, a bit dilapidated place. The Fantasticks show - 4 stars - although this was a very low budget show, with no glamour, I commend the actors that sang and projected their voices with no microphones throughout the whole theater. The storyline and two comedians were cute and funny. There were only about 8 actors and 1 pianist throughout the whole entire 2 hours, which i thought was amazing since they all remembered their parts and sang with just their talents without any other background support. Plus they interacted with the crowd and it felt very quaint as well. I enjoyed their singing and acting in this play. The highlight of this show was that we could take pictures and get autographs with the actors at the end of the show, and they were really warm and personal. read more

We caught The Office (unauthorized) parody. The theater is quaint and for front row seats you have to scoot your legs in to avoid the actors dashing back and forth. Dwight nearly loogied us. Drinks and snacks sold which you can enjoy during the show. Loads of old photos of Mr. Orbach, who I once thought was Mr. Bookman from Seinfeld, but was corrected via a $10 bet. read more

My daughter Skyler has been a covid EMT in NYC the past 8 months. On her birthday in June, she lost her wallet with all her ID, credit cards and cash. The employee who found it at Jerry Orbach Theater in New York mailed it to her-with the cash-back to her in Nevada City, CA. I am moved by this act of integrity and honesty. Others have described the Orbach theatre as "ghetto". It's true: worn carpet, wobbly seats, etc. The lobby seemed updated, but that's not where you see the show. We wanted to see The Fantasticks because it's the longest running show in the world, and because we'd seen a few college productions, so it was on our show bucket list. The performance was very entertaining, and we very much enjoyed the actors who played Matt and Luisa. Great voices! Here's where the evening went south for us: Five inebriated adults in the center section back row who were shouting out comments, and left the theatre with great commotion 5 minutes before intermission. Unbelievably they retuned for Act II and behaved the same, and again stumbled out near the end of the performance. The entire audience was "shushing" them and turning in seats to stare them down. Behind us were three ladies who had just been to the M&M store and crinkled their candy bags constantly. Poor girls must have been hungry. This theatre really needs an usher or house manager to actively fend off all these distractions. God bless the performers who just kept going without losing focus. read more

We saw The Office there. This is not a review of that show. The show was very cute and worth seeing if you're a fan of the TV series. This is a review of the theater staff. They are all grumpy and nasty. The people who work there, from the box office to the concession stand, are major a-holes with horrible attitudes. They should try being nice to paying customers. If they try that, maybe they'll make enough money to afford new carpet and paint and a few other first world amenities that one would expect to find in a building in the United States. Good luck staying open with your babyish, diva attitudes. read more

Fantasticks is a good show. Located on the 3rd floor of the theater. They interact/involve the audience but will not pull volunteers to the stage. (In case, you featured to show off some acting skills) If the show isn't sold out, they will kindly allow you to move closet to the stage or to "better seats" The actor/actresses come to the lobby after the show to interact with the audience/attendees. They will also provide autographs on playbills. The play runs 2 hrs and 5 min with a 15 intermission (included in the time) They do have a concession stand that provides beverages/libations and snacks. Ticket deals can be found on Groupon and LivingSocial. read more

"The Jerry Orbach Theater", is very misleading, and should not be allowed to be called a Broadway Show Theater! It's very small, seating is tight, no leg room, and disappointing! We saw the show called: "The Fantasticks", and so very sorry we did! It was extremely disappointing, especially for the money we paid. It's a rip off, and not worth it. $10. per person would have been appropriate, but not one penny more. It was more of a high school performance. It was so boring, we had to leave during intermission, and so happy we did. Sad, we can't get a refund, but it was torturous if we stayed. The money we paid was not worth staying for a miserable performance and tight seating in this very small theater. I don't recommend this theater, and I don't recommend this play! Her Opponent opening night. 1hour quick off Broadway show that was very well done. The genders are reversed on 4 clips from 3 debates. The behavior words and hand gestures are mimicked perfectly. This was an eye opening experience that revealed how you saw the candidates no matter how you voted. What I noticed and asked about in the Q and A that is standard after this show was the behavior if the candidates when they were not speaking. Apparently the actors studied the feed from multiple camera angles. Definitely worth your time to go see. read more

I took my family there for what turned out to be a nice play. However, we were sadly mistreated by the staff. We asked if we needed to buy a ticket for our youngest son and were told he could sit on our lap. When we got to the actual theatre, however, we were rudely told this was not an option. (The box office is on a different floor). When I requested a refund the guy at the box office grew belligerent and refused. We made enough noise that they eventually let us in, but it definitely cast a pall over our evening. It may have been caused by a miscommunication on their part but they should have handled it with greater diplomacy. Sad. read more

So I went to the Lonnie Bee show on Saturday and it is my understanding that the management was rude, unprofessional and just plain nasty. Lonnie Bee and his staff is nice and professional and the fact that you treated him the way that you did after he came all the way down from Washington, DC makes me upset. I saw the show tonight with my family and the experience was very unique. The talent in this musical is exceptional, and you get to experience their performance in a very intimate space. It is so small that the actors actually get to interact with you if you get a front row seat. This is something that you would not get in a typical bombastic Broadway production. The Fantasticks is the longest running musical on Broadway--and for a reason. It is funny and romantic, and the music numbers are iconic. By going to the show -- you feel that you are supporting a beautiful NYC tradition. read more
