I went here to see Little Shop of Horrors on my NYC trip! Super cute theatre and it's on the smaller side too so it's more intimate. I sat almost in the very back and the person in front of me was a little tall so I couldn't see some of the time. You can hear the performers really well though. The production was amazing for my first show in NYC especially since it was off broadway. If you wait outside near the doors you can also get signatures. I waited maybe 20 min to get the main cast. I was a bit disappointed that Milo and Liz were sick but the understudies did so well that the show was still very very good. They were also super nice when I met them! There are always a lot of talented people in this show so I totally recommend going. read more

Super lucky to be able to watch Broadway Musicals in NYC. The is my first time watching Little Shop of Horrors Live and in person. A work colleague had bought 5 tickets and planned on watching it while in New York and was invited to join in. If you're familiar with Broadway Actor's, Jeremy Jordan was playing the role of Seymour during a limited run until September 17, I've seen him perform in other shows, and I could feel the hype in the audience since he was being featured! This past Saturday night, we made our way down after an early evening at dinner. I've walked by this theatre many times as it's right in the middle of Hell's Kitchen, It was my first time inside this Off- Broadway Theatre. It's kinda historic and charming compared to the bigger ones in Midtown. I loved it in a different way being that you are super close to the stage, you don't need binoculars but this is also different as the live orchestra wasn't in the front pit. But with all the close-ups made for better viewing. Lucky for us, our seats were right in the middle of the riser. It's not a very big theater, guessing approximately less than 100 seat's total. We got to see it with a good view. Regardless of where your seats are, you'll get a very close view of all the actors on stage! Westside Theatre is right in the middle of Hell's Kitchen District, just a few blocks from Midtown Manhattan. Right on 43rd St. between 9th & 10th. The concession stand and restrooms are on the 2nd floor and to get into the theater you'd have to climb up to the 3rd floor. I can't recall seeing an elevator for those who need assistance up and down each level. read more

This is a smaller, off broadway theater. For Little Shop, a greeter will direct you up some stairs. The upstairs theater is small, but if you are short, the sight lines are not great. I don't think there's much of a pitch, so it's really just a block of seats in the middle orchestra, without allowing for windows between heads. I sat next to the director's booth and enjoyed seeing the cameras for the orchestra and Audrey II. But if you don't want to see the behind the scenes, try to sit nearer the front or in the side seats. The theater has standard drink options and a few snacks, but they don't have custom cups. Westside Theatre is a great location for off Broadway shows. We recently watched "Little Shop of Horrors" last Sunday afternoon. It will be ending soon. We were excited to see how it would turn out versus the movie adaption from years ago. Westside Theatre, there is stadium seating. We sat at the top, no seats or anyone behind us. Good view to look down and view the entire stage without distractions. Exits were noticeable, and bathrooms were small and cleaned. The show was upstairs. It almost felt close to walking in a house. If there was another off Broadway show again, I wouldn't mind coming back. read more

I would absolutely love to attend another show at the Westside Theater Upstairs again! This little theater is clean, classy, and fabulous! Not a bad seat in the house! The bathrooms are nice and clean. There are 6 stalls and three sinks in the womens bathroom. I'm sure the mens bathroom is nice too. In the lobby you will find a handsome bar where you can order drinks, get snacks such as M&Ms, and purchase memorabilia. The actors, set, lighting, and sound are top notch! The show is phenomenal. The cast and puppeteering, the set, everything, absolutely perfect. It's my favorite show of all time, and I come here a lot! Have always had a great time!!! However; My latest visit was something entirely different. Right as intermission hit, I was accused of recording and forced to leave my seat into a staircase. They made quite a scene in front of everyone. I was not recording and I did not touch my phone during the show. I would NEVER. At one point I grabbed a cloth from my bag for my glasses (this is the only explanation I can think of) The way I was treated was pretty crazy. I got yelled at for a solid 5 before they let me go. It was quite upsetting. I had to prove so many times that I was not recording by showing my recently deleted and photos. They barely let me go back in. They never apologized either. Right as the second half started, they shined a flashlight on me to make sure I wasn't recording. I rly tried to let this go but it's bothering me a lot. The tickets were so expensive just to be treated so poorly. read more

Truly a delightful little theatre. Its a little worn here and there but its just a nice experience - due to the smaller crowds toy don't feel like a piece of livestock being moved through which can happen at the larger "on broadway" theatres at times. Its a sweltering summer here and yet everyone was let into the cool theatre as they arrived and before doors open. Its such a small theatre we could hear someone prepping their voice in advance and the attendants were terrificand nice. It is a smaller theater which creates for a really intimate experience. There isn't a bad seat in the house! They don't have a full bar like most broadway houses, but they do have bottled water available for purchase at the merchandise stand. The show was so funny and made for a great Sunday afternoon. Amazing seeing Little Shop of Horrors here. Being a fan of the movie, I was excited to see how the production would be handled in small theater and they delivered! The cast was funny. The set was spot on as if it was right out of the film. And the star, Audrey II, was wonderful to see it come to life. Single stall bathroom on the first floor. 4 bathroom stalls on the second floor. Cute homey feel being that the location is small, it felt like I was stepping into someone's well decorated living room. All seats have a great view because they are diagonally placed. The theatre is very old and small, so yes, I agree with other reviews that the seats are not the most comfortable, but similar to others in old theaters. The sound was loud and clear, which I appreciated. Since the theater is small you could see the actors up close. The play was high-energy, the acting and singing were superb, and I enjoyed it a lot! I got to see Little Shop of Horrors at Westside Theatre both before and during the pandemic. It's important to note that this theater is not handicap accessible and the theater is located on the second floor, in addition to having steps to initially get into the building. I love this production and am appreciative of the employees here making an effort to keep everyone safe. The employees wear their mask the entire time and make sure that the audience is too. They check for your vaccination card and that it matches your photo ID. There's merch and refreshments available on the second floor, as well as a few tables to sit before you go inside the theater. I wish they had a bigger of clothes though. The production itself is WONDERFUL. Christian Borle killed me both times and whether it's Groffsauce or Conrad, you're always going to have a great Seymour. I'm so happy that this was my first show as I resumed my pre-theater life. It definitely made me feel better about resuming my pre-pandemic theater life of seeing a show once a week. read more

The theater is upstairs so when you arrive you have to walk up a flight of stairs which surprised me. Came to the upstairs theatre to watch "Little Shop of Horrors" on Wednesday night. I had the perfect middle seat but honestly the theatre is so intimate there isn't a bad seat in the house. All the rows are vertically spaced enough so you should have no trouble seeing above the person in front of you. I was so up close to the performers, it was great. I came about an hour early so I sat in the lobby until doors opened about 20 minutes prior. Seating went by real fast and before you know it the show was starting. This review is more for the production of Daniel's Husband, than for the Westside Theater. I do love this theater but this show is incredible moving. This is my 4th time seeing this play; each time bringing a new group of friends to experience this powerful play. Outstanding writing, acting and set. As I mentioned earlier, this play is very moving. It made me laugh; it made me go into the ugly cry! No joke! The acting and story is just captivating. The story itself is gay themed but honestly, the premise is universal. I won't go into too much detail, so as not to ruin the story for anyone who wants to see it. But go see it!! This is a review for LIttle Shop of Horrors. Never seen the original movie and had no idea about the story line other than it has to do with a flower shop. This was an excellent excellent show! The stage is small and the stage layout pretty much remained the same for the entire show. i really loved all the characters. The 3 girls/narrators of the show are just delightful! Same as the other main characters, Seymour, Audrey, Mr. Mushnik and of course the dentist. However, teh very best goes to Audrey 2 and I LOVED Aaron Arnell Harrington as the voice of. Amazing amazing voice!! and really brought alive Audrey 2's character. I would definitely say the main star of this show really is Audrey 2. Very cleaver and entertaining and so glad we saw this show. the theatre itself is quite tiny. think just the orchestra section of your typical broadway theatre. literrally any seat you be close to the stage. read more

Took my sister to see Little Shop of Horrors. We constantly watched the movie growing up and to this day say " Feed me Seymour" if we get hungry. LOL. The cast was phenomenal!!!!!! I mean the did an incredible job. Down to the gentleman on the keyboard. The voice of Audrey ll was even better than the guy from the movie. I wish I was able to record so I could watch it again, I really enjoyed every last moment of the show. Except the tiny ass seats. I was very uncomfortable the whole time. I can't say if I'm back in NY I would go to this theatre because being in those seats for 2 hours is no fun. read more

Recently saw "Little Shop of Horrors" here. Westside has two small theaters and Little Shop was in the larger one upstairs. I certainly understand frustrations that this theater is not handicapped accessible. One not only has to walk up stairs to get to the theater, but then there are more stairs to get to the seats. This is clearly stated on the theater website. Besides the theater, upstairs there is a full size bar/snack bar and bathrooms. The theater itself is very cozy. There is not a bad seat in the house. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jonathan Groff, Christian Borle, and the rest of the talented cast perform in such an intimate atmosphere! I would not hesitate to see another production here. read more

I think I'd agree with many folks - there isn't a bad seat in the house. Except, all of them. These are some of the smallest seats in a theater I've experienced. I'm a bigger guy and was very uncomfortable in my seat. And I was with someone who is bigger than me and he was very uncomfortable. It ended up that the other folks in our row asked an usher if they could take some seats that weren't filled yet in order to give us room. Also, they were very strictly saying that if you were late or got up during the show, you wouldn't be let in. But people were let in late and leaving/coming back during the show. I visited Westside Theatre yesterday to see Little Shop of Horrors. Upon arrival, we entered the lobby where people were waiting for the upstairs lobby/bar to open. It was very simple and dated. When going upstairs, the floors were creaking but it gave a fulfilled joy knowing how long this theatre has been in business, the amount of productions performed, and the history behind it all. The upstairs lobby was also small but it fit everyone just fine. The bathrooms were well stocked and clean (just needs an update). I didn't order anything from the bar. They did have some drinks (beer, soda, water) and a few snacks (pretzels and candy). I bought a magnet that was $10. They had a few shirts, a jacket, a pin, and a fake plant that said "feed me." It was cute but didn't know where I would put it. When going into the theater, I was amazed by the seating!! We sat in row 4 seats 103 and 104. I'm so happy I didn't buy seats any closer because these were perfect!! The theatre has stadium seating which is fantastic! The production was amazing (kudos to the puppetry), music was phenomenal, and the actors put on quite the show! We absolutely love Little Shop of Horrors! So my 4 star rating is simply because the theatre is old and needs a little update. However, I am conflicted with giving it 5 stars because the age does give it charm. read more

I purchased a $34 one year subscription to www.tdf.org to buy tickets to 4 shows. Discount seats became availability online a few days before the performance. Two Friday night center orchestra tickets to "Cagney" cost us $28.50 each, full price $90 each. This is one of the older theaters around, but has been completely renovated over the years. It is located in the far southwestern corner of the Broadway theater district, a good 40 minute walk from our Manhattan Club timeshare on 56th street It can be considered off Broadway. Handicap ramp in front of the theater, but no handicap access within the theater, to overcome a series of steep narrow stairs leading to the theater seats. If you don't like steep stairs, then this theater is not for you! Aisles on each side of the theater, with three entrances. Stadium seating, with your knees at neck height of the row in front of you. We had to climb over some larger ladies to get to our seats. Seats are cramped, with knees resting against the seat in front of you. Ladies got up and shuffled down to the aisle. They decided they didn't want me passing by, rubbing my behind against their groins! What you would call intimate seating! At intermission, wife tramples a couple of slow pokes on her mad dash to the bathrooms. Bathroom lines for both men and women at intermission. 5 stalls for the women. 296 seat capacity, or 1 to 30 ratio of toilets to women. To accompany all 150 women, each women would have to take no more than 30 seconds on the toilet! Sodas $4, but only coke and diet coke -no caffeine free sodas, and all sodas must be consumed during intermission. "Cagney" is the rags to riches story of actor James Cagney, his rise from vaudeville to the Hollywood screens in the 1930s, his rise as an actor "on top of the world", his conflicts with Jack Warner, owner of Warner Brothers Motion Pictures, his fame in a series of gangster movies in the 1930s and early 1940s, and his breakup and reconciliation with Warner. The entire show is one big musical, with almost nonstop singing and dancing in various settings and costumes. Small orchestra of 5 players behind the stage. Lots of tap dancing scenes toward the end. A vastly entertaining show I would go to again and again!. read more

Saw Little Shop of Horrors here. It's a very nice intimate theater. I was actually very surprised walking in and seeing just how small it was. The show had three price points, $59, $79 and $99. I chose the $79 seats. I was in the middle of the theater, and had a perfect view. I chose seats thinking I'd get an aisle, but it was the left side wall. That was fine, but the internet seating chart makes the place look bigger. I couldn't imagine that there was a bad seat in this place. I was able to hear and see everything. No problems at all. The show was spectacular. They had a small bar and souvenir area. They were also easy with the Covid checks, just have your vaccination proof and id ready. read more

In our case, the illusionist Vitaly performed large card tricks, photograph magic and the illusion that stumped Penn & Teller on their "Fool Us" show. First time visiting this theater, it's a dated small off-broadway theatre with a small stage & seating. The theatres small size creates for great seats regardless where you are. I was very happy with my seating selection. Since I've never seen the star of the show perform, I must be honest I didn't know what to expect. It was very funny, for most of the 90 minutes, with a few moments of seriousness. The show depicts issues women face on a daily basis, with food, body issues & weight fluctuations. The show did have corky/corny scenes but the main objective was very real which was highlighted in a humorous way. I would watch it again yet I'd search for discounts for it. If you're into raunchy, funny, really life topic comedies then this show is for you. read more

I truly enjoyed our night at the Westside Theatre to see Little Shop of Horrors. After checking our vaccine status, we waited in a room with a bar for the theatre doors to open. Staff clearly announced drink, photography, and mask policies before letting us in to our seats. The usher was kind and attentive, and took time to help people to their seat at the pace they were comfortable taking steps. Our seats were on the left side - there are a few rows with only 2 seats, which is perfect for a pair of theatre goers. The theatre was small enough that you could really see facial expressions of the actors (Jeremy Jordan and Christian Borle were fantastic). Just saw Curvy Widow here as part of a Yelp Night on Broadway event. It's an off-Broadway theater that is pretty old and historic. It's on the tiny side and houses two theaters, smaller on lower level, and the larger on the upstairs level at which we viewed the show. Narrow stairwells to climb up which leads to a small lobby with bathrooms and a bar to grab a drink or snack. Seems well maintained overall Cool AC on a warm summer night. The larger auditorium up top featured stadium style seating which offered great views of the stage. Not a bad seat anywhere really. Good sound and acoustics. As usual, with these old theaters the seating is not too roomy and on the tight side. The tall dude with long legs seated next to me looked like he was in a torture device from the Saw movies. Overall, it's an average theater. Nothing about it really stood out or wow'ed me. Just a nice decent place to see a show. read more
