Lived throughout the country and always love a good meat market. People do not realize the gem we have right here in Seymour CT. I will stack Jerry's against any of them. First is the quality of meat and custom cuts. They do it all. Next is the prepared foods. From his picnic salads to the re-heat items they are all home made and great quality. They also make their own deli ham and roast beef. Specialty items are all great and fairly priced. Stuffed breads are super. Sandwiches are done right, Philly Cheesesteak is to die for. Now for the best part, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, which is a rare find today. They will go out of their way to get it right. Have met so many people who don't even know it's there but once they go they are hooked. Honestly never heard a bad word about the place. It is a must try. read more

I ordered a simple ham and provolone sandwich on a hard roll with lettuce oil and vinegar extra vinegar. The roll was stale they put one slice of provolone the ham was too salty and they could not even put extra vinegar on even though I asked the girl making it twice. I heard about this place from my co-workers, so I decided to stop by. The first thing you will see when you enter is the meat display by the fridge. I didn't expect that, everything looks fresh. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with hot peppers on a roll. Wow... the cheesesteak was juicy and delicious not too spicy. But The main thing I will mention, is the roll bread. It was soft and fresh like it just got out of the oven. So far the service and the food mas great No complaints. Place offers other food options.I will back again for the cheesesteak. read more

I come to Jerry's for the sandwiches primarily. I've tried most of their grinders and have never been dissatisfied. They give generous portions and have great additions available like sauteed onions or peppers. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. They create very good food here. read more

Okay so I wasn't sure what to give this place... A 3 or a 4. The market is very nice and has plenty of insanely delicious looking food that I will definitely come back to try. I orders the cheese steak grinder, and while I did find the food to be tasty, the bread was saturated all the way through! Needless to say I'm not a fan of saturated bread at all. Had bad experiance With jerrys market. bought a roast for holiday dinner that turned out to be unedible, it was very tough. They tried to say maybe it was cooked wrong, it was cooked the way they told me and no matter what part you tried to eat it was tough. so much for your local butcher.I didnt want the money back i just wanted a good roast. I went to purchase a 4 pound brisket advertised at $4.99/lb un-trimmed. I asked for it un-trimmed but got charged $7.99/lb. I complained to no avail. Bad service I won't be going back there any time soon! read more

This is where I buy my meat. There are other places in the area that sell meat at a cheaper rate, however, I don't go to those. I go to Jerry's. Super knowledgeable in the craft, and more than willing to customize your order to spec. I can't see myself patronizing another butcher. read more

A coworker who usually knows great lunchtime eateries recommended Jerry's to me. I tried their version of the Philly Steak. I can honestly say that it was the best I ever had. Thinly sliced Rib Eye I believe. Oh my Gosh!!!! Delicious! They also were a full meat market with many delicious looking goods. A must try. I learned about Jerry's from my girlfriend.Not only is it a great place to get a grinder, stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbage, chicken cutlets, etc. The list is too long to go into, but I haven't met anything there that I haven't liked. Jerry's is a full service butcher, and has just about any cut of meat you would want. I just got back from Jerry's with a stuffed pork chop, NY strip, chicken cordon blu, and some gavatel with Broccoli. Beats the heck out of making it from scratch. read more

Amazing meat market. There's plenty of parking and prices are comparable to those at supermarkets. And it's accessible to customers using mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, scooters). Had I been there for lunch I would have tried a sandwich. Jerry's has those very thin slices of fresh beef to make braciole (called involtini in Italy) at home. These are unavailable at my supermarket. Or, you can buy them here, already cooked, ready to simmer in your own sauce. Jerry's prepared foods are delicious, rivaling what you'd expect in an expensive Italian restaurant. His stuffed peppers are large. His stuffed cabbages are huge--like a meatloaf wrapped in cabbage. One serves two or three. Jerry's reminds me of the old-time butcher shops where you received personal service. It's like a grocery store too; on shelves are canned goods, fresh-baked breads and rolls, even fresh vegetables in season. read more

Excellent quality meats and store-cooked food. It's always nice to support the "mom and pop" shop instead of getting meats from Stop & Shop, but the problem here is, and has always been, the horribly slow service. Recently, I went in one AM and there were 5 people working behind the counter. One was making the prepared food, one was mopping the floors, one was helping the one other customer in the store, and Jerry and one other person were back in the meat locker working. While the one person was helping the one other customer in the store, the other 4 were going about their business and completely ignored me standing there for some 10 minutes waiting for help. The person in the meat cooler with Jerry was walking back and forth to the meat cooler stocking the items...you think since he was working right in the cooler in front of where I was standing he would help me? No chance. It has always been a challenge getting reasonable service in Jerry's, after my last visit, I doubt I will be returning any time soon. Too bad too, they have good stuff, but the slow service is really a turn off. read more
