We have used this business for awhile now. The last two times we had patches sewn on, they were done wrong and we had to have them redone. To be fair, though, when we brought it to their attention, they fixed the issue. Today, we went in with five uniforms to have patches sewn on. There were a fair amount of patches and so we know it should have been a job that would have paid them well: one or two patches for four uniforms and one uniform with several patches. The response we got made it obvious they did not want our business any longer. I had taken the time to place all of the patches in plastic baggies attached to each uniform, and printed out pictures and instructions showing where each patch should go. Easy! The male owner told me told me I would have to help him attach all of the patches, and, "I don't want to do all that." He would not attach the patches unless I helped him do it. What am I paying him for? Seriously? This shop specializes in attaching patches to uniforms, and we get, "I don't want to do all that?" He might as well have said, "I don't want your business." That is certainly the message we heard, and we will not be back. I would take your business to someone who actually wants it. read more

Jerry hasn't let me down yet. Been here a few times and honestly prefer it over Dorothy's. He knows what he's doing...and although most tones I see him working alone, he gets my uniforms back to me quickly. He gives honest advice, and won't recommend an alteration for extra $$. read more

Have been using Jerry's Tailoring for a few years now and the work they do is not only immaculate and prestige, Jerry and Lucy do it with a warm heart and a smile. They value their customers and it truely shows in the work they do, and the level of customer service they provide. We had a dress hemmed here, perfect job and they fixed a seam that was broken that we didn't even notice. Brand new dress. Love this place and trust them with all of my tailoring needs. They do a lot of military uniforms as well, and know uniform regulations. Had medals mounted here as well...top notch job and fast service! read more

This place is amazing! They are also so nice, professional and produce quality work. We go there for military uniform alterations and patch work and every time they do a outstanding job! 99% of the time it is same day work which is extremely helpful with our busy schedules. The prices are great for what they produce. We have gone there for almost a year now and have upgraded their shop to make waiting for aricles of clothing a lot easier. I had called in advance to get a quote on an item I needed sewn together and described in detail that I wanted fabric pieces sewn to the waist band of a skirt. The man on the phone replied they don't give quotes over the phone, so I drove to the shop. When I arrived at the shop the man told me they don't even do that work at their shop. I guess he didn't find it important to simply tell me that over the phone so I didn't waste a 30 minute drive and money on gas. read more

This is the worst tailor shop I've ever been to! My husband took a suit to be altered and had a horrible experience. The owner and a woman were in the shop when he went in with his suit jacket and pants. He tried on the suit in a small room where there was stuff everywhere-toilet paper, boxes, etc. The lady looked at the jacket which was already marked to the desired length - about 1 " shorter. She also pinned the pants at the waist and hem. He paid $75 and left. The next day he went back for the suit and brought it home. When he tried on the pants, they looked like leggings! They were so tight at the calf that they hugged his legs and the hem was so long that there were doubled over 3 times and the bottom of the pant leg was so narrow the hem couldn't fit over his ankle! The jacket was fine but the pants were completely messed up! He immediately called the shop and the owner's wife answered the phone. When he explained his situation, she said the other lady fixed the pants and "she doesn't know how to do alterations on pants- she only does shirt and jacket sleeves". She told him to bring to suit back to be fixed. He went back to the shop and tried on the pants again in the messy dressing room and the wife shook her head and said that the other lady had messed up the hem and had taken the pant leg in at the side instead of the back seam making the legs super narrow and ill fitting - pulling at the hip, pocket and ankle. He left the pants and the wife said she'd fix them in 2 days due to the thanksgiving holiday. Today my husband went to pick up the pants again and tried them on in front of the owner and his wife. Although the pant legs were not so tight, the pockets were pulling and the crotch of the pants is all bunched up - horribly sewn. The owner said- " I don't know what you want me to do" when my husband said that even the owner would not want to wear such ill fitting pants. He said " I can give you another pair of pants I have hanging here ." My husband said he didn't want someone else's pants- he wanted the pants that matched his suit! The owner told him he'd return his payment- $30 but kept the remainder- $45 for the sleeve alteration & dry cleaner of the new jacket - way overpriced for this job not to mention the fact that the jacket now has no pants that can be worn as a suit. My husband took the $30 and walked out of the shop. We went to buy another suit, took it to the tailor at Macy's in Fashion Valley because Carlsbad Macy's doesn't do alterations. Jose, the tailor was efficient, experienced and expertly marked the jacket and pants for alterations which will be done by Monday. Lesson learned- don't trust Jerry's Tailoring shop- unreliable, poor workmanship, unorganized shop, lack of integrity. So, it cost $45 to shorten a sleeve and a new suit to replace the ruined suit that will now be donated. Find another place if you want to make sure you can wear your pants after alterations- this shop is the worst. read more

They really do appreciate what we do and they will help you out even if it means working late to make sure your uniform is perfect for that surprise inspection in a few hours. Before I knew about this place, I'd go to dorothys around the corner. I personally had a bad experience with them as well as a few other friends. Plus you'll be waiting in line for 45 mins to pick up your uniform on Thursday evening. I never like writing reviews just because I never feel the need to. But this place is just that great. I had an emergency and needed chevrons sown on THAT NIGHT! (I walked in at 6:30 pm). They just told me it would be ready in 30 minutes and the said it with a friendly smile. I use to always go to Dorothy's around the corner but in no way do they compare to this place. First off, they are great tailors who work aggressively to correct their mistakes time and time again. They usually produce quality results that I say are above average for the area as long as you are there waiting on your garments to be altered. If you drop them off, there is no telling what they are going to do with them. I only have myself to blame for my continued disappointment of their customer service and organizational skills and I think I can finally (regardless of all the past positive reviews and my desire to support this establishment) close the door on this chapter of my life and find a trustworthy source to alter my clothing. I tried four or five times and my heart has been broken just as many, shame on me. Some other people I talk too have great success with them, but for some reason they continue to misplace my garments or simply just not have them ready at the time they state. In fact, only once out of my last five visits was my product ready in time; and I never go in there with a rush order. My typical reply to "when do you need it by?" is, "no rush, you tell me when it can be done". I have stood there for almost an hour once waiting on them to find my shirt and I have also had to go back three times in one day to get my medals mounted when they where supposed to be completed hours before. The last straw was today when I was initially shocked that my pants were ready (and they actually found them), but after I tried them on I realized quickly that they didn't alter a thing. So once again I waited while they performed a hasty alteration that eventually fit perfectly; but unfortunately created a hole in the material when they moved the belt loop, so tomorrow I am off to buy a new pair of pants. They explained that this happens from time to time after several alterations, but at this point I lost the heart to argue and simply wanted to end my involvement with them as quickly as possible. Otherwise I would have explained that this is only the second time these trousers had been altered, and they did the first one a year and a half ago. Plus my gut tells me that she knew she screwed up and ripped them and simply hoped I would not notice. Jerry and his wife are very nice people and extremely apologetic every time I share my frustration. I wish them the best of luck. I know they will continue on fine due to the area and constant influx of new people to disappoint; but for me, my money is going elsewhere or I am learning to sew. read more

Rating the dry cleaning service. Have had no issues with 3-4 trips here to have shirts and suits dry cleaned. $10 for each suit I thought was very reasonable. The staff were nice. The interior is a bit messy, but whatever. I gave them my number to call me when my suits were ready and they never called. So I just showed up on the day they said they would be ready and they were. So no harm, no foul. Would just like a phone call next time. Another note is that they were not open promptly at 9:30am, which I found odd. Had to come back around 10am and they were finally open. read more

I've been going here for over three years and now that I am PCSing I am genuinely sad to leave Jerry and his wife as my go-to tailors. They have always accommodated me and more than once I have had rush items that i get back on the same day. On some days during birthday ball season they stay until midnight. True dedication and they always, always smile. I made the mistake of Dorothy's only put them on my blues coat AND i have no idea how... they burnt the bottom of my service coat... wth??!! But Jerry and his wife were able to fix it and I am truly indebted to them for how many times they saved my butt. Cannot say enough good things! Also, they just opened up a flower shop next door and it is so quaint! Jerry's wife loves making arrangements from the flowers that you pick out. And she makes awesome bouquets that are very inexpensive! I'm going to miss them!!! read more

Truly hands down one of the best places I've had the pleasure of dealing with. The outside appearance makes you think this place isn't a good place to bring your uniforms but the service is superb and they take care of you like a human and not a walking wallet. One woman in particular that works there, I think her name is Mary took care of my entire uniform and medals all in one day. They know what they're doing 100% of the time. This place is as good as it gets in North County. Took in a barrage of 7 pairs of pants and 8 shirts that i had just bought and needed alterations to fit perfect, and Jerry and the crew delivered with a 3-day turn around, cleaned and pressed with all the bells and whistles. Even took the time to notice that the shirts had collar-stays in and removed them and put them in a little baggy to ensure they weren't damaged in the process. Flawless alterations, unbelievably fast turnaround, great prices, and great customer service. Plus, I like the little clips they put on the dress shirt sleeves to keep them from getting bundled up and wavy like they would at other places. My go-to for over 2 years now. read more

Love this place. Been going here for years. Most places don't do all of your uniforms in one day. He can literally do that if you ask him too. Out of the 20 times I've been here they messed up one time. It's not a top of the line place. I wouldn't say it's 100% quality either. After reading so many good reviews, we were very excited to work with Jerry's. However... we were only disappointed with the service we received. My wife took her dress in to get it altered prior to a military ball. When we went to pick up (on the date we were told to), they could not find the dress. When they found it, the alterations were not complete. Because of this, she had to scramble to find a dress to wear to the ball! When my wife went back (over a month later...Why hurry when they already failed to meet their promised timeline?), the dress still did not fit her well and the beading had been damaged. On top of that, Jerry would not accept the fact that the dress was poorly altered to fit her. I called the shop later, and Jerry was equally as rude to me. Jerry's may be decent with uniforms, but there are too many great tailors in the area to risk wasting your money on dress alterations here. I now have to pay someone else to do the job that Jerry's promised they could do initially. read more

There was one part that was poofing out because I had the neckline sewn up a little more and they attempted to fix it but was still a little weird. They provided quick and courteous services last weekend. My son from came out of town for our wedding. Unfortunately the suit slacks that we had purchased for him were way too big. We called Jerry's tailoring and asked if they had same day alterations service. They said they did. We quickly drove over there and they immediately went to work on ensuring that the slacks would be ready within a few short hours. Not only did they provide quick service but the slacks fit perfectly! We will definitely send others their way and use their services again. AWFUL! My husband needed a few things done to his blues and bravos--nothing too difficult. He needed them pressed and a blood stripe put on his blues trousers. We turned them into the shop on Sunday, and we were told to pick them up on Tuesday which was fantastic. We live in San Clemente, but didn't mind doing the drive because they were going to take care of things so quickly. On Tuesday, I went in to pick up everything. Not only were the uniforms not completed, but the lady working the desk couldn't find them. I had to look through their racks to find my husband's uniforms because the woman working there had given up and said they must not be done yet. After looking, I was able to find half of his uniforms and was told to come back the next day (after another trip from San Clemente) for the other half. She also made me write up the receipt for what I had picked up and what was still being worked on by them. The last time I checked I was paying them, and I shouldn't be having to look through people's clothes and write my own receipt. So - my husband went with me the next time to pick up the rest of his uniforms. We gave them our receipt, and an older man and the same woman from the other day tried to help us. Please excuse me if this is rude, but I don't know if they thought because I'm white that I don't know how to speak Spanish or what -- As soon as they started to become frustrated that they could not find the rest of my husband's uniforms they started speaking in Spanish, and the woman clearly said she didn't know where my husband's clothes were. Not okay!!! Again, my husband and I had to look through their racks. We found a pair of blues trousers in his size that did not have anyone's name or receipt number on them. My husband tried them on to make sure they fit and we left right after. What a terrible experience!!! read more

The couple that owns this place is super friendly! Always willing to help and treat you like family when you walk in the door. They can fix just about everything and charge you very cheap compared to all the nearby shops. The work done here is very quick as well in comparison to the competition in the area, they will work late just to meet any crazy deadline (i.e. wanting same day uniform tailored and pressed) and have a satisfied customer. As long as i'm here in the area this is the place I will go to in order to get any medals mounted, uniforms tailored. etc... Quick service, friendly environment and cheap prices! read more

Mediocre service and results. Very disorganized, had to come back multiple times to pick up a pair of pants because they did not have it ready by their self imposed deadline. I am very frustrated w/ the employees at Jerry's Alterations. A couple months ago I bumped into one of my acquaintances and I mentioned to her that I was looking for a good tailoring shop and she recommended one, but unfortunately I didn't get a phone number I just got the shops and the name of the tailor she recommended, the shop she recommended was Serena's Alterations. So I looked for them on Yelp and got the phone number. Whoever answered, claimed that they were Serena's Alterations, and I asked to set an appointment w/ Pedro (the tailor that was recommended), so he could size me to take in and hem a dress I needed, they employee proceeded to tell me that they didn't have a tailor by the name of Pedro, so I asked again if they were Serena's Alterations and at this point the employee proceeded to tell me that he had made a mistake, that they were Jerry's Tailoring and they were more than willing to help me. I don't understand why he even told me that they were Serena's Alterations, when I clearly asked at the beginning of the phone call. As a potential costumer I felt deceived and I feel that a reputable company would not do something like this as it's unethical. If they would have told me from the beginning that I had the wrong number, but that they were also a tailoring shop I would consider going to them instead, but after this I would never use their services and never recommend anyone to them either. read more
