While this news door dash this really shows the level of customer service. I placed an order around 10:00 a.m. for 3 breakfast bagel sandwiches, a half-dozen bagels, and a cookie. It wasn't until roughly 10:45 that I received a message saying the bagel flavor I selected was unavailable. No big deal at all -- I responded immediately and said everything bagels would be great. Then... nothing. Two separate DoorDash drivers went to the restaurant and waited for the order. It still wasn't ready, and we received no meaningful update explaining what was happening. Finally, at around 12:30 p.m., more than two hours after we ordered breakfast, the delivery arrived with only the cookie. No breakfast sandwiches. No half-dozen bagels. Just a cookie. The most frustrating part wasn't even that the food didn't arrive. Restaurants get busy. Items sell out. Mistakes happen. The problem was the complete lack of communication. If someone had simply said, "We can't fulfill this order," we could have cancelled and ordered breakfast somewhere else. Instead, we waited for more than two hours and ended up without breakfast. Other reviewers may love the bagels, but unfortunately I never really got the opportunity to find out. For a first experience, this was a pretty telling example of the customer service, and there are too many other bagel shops in the area for me to risk repeating it.

Tasty food, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere, what more can one ask for? We had two plates of brisket - half and half (lean and fatty) and chopped. Mac & cheese, potato salad, and creamed corn. And both types of puddings! The brisket was so tender and fell apart easily, which also went very well with the spicy bbq sauce. The chopped brisket was tasty too and went great with all the sides and the piece of bread. Everything was so good and to the point, which made it such a comfort food. If I really had to nitpick, I felt the potato in the potato salad was slightly underdone and crunchy, but not a big deal. Mac & cheese hit the spot and wow, the cream corn came out hot and was such a hit! The surprise standout for me was the banana pudding. It was perfectly sweet, delicious, and somehow didn't feel too heavy at all! I'm still craving it and wish I lived closer to this area just so I can swing by anytime. They also have a great assortment of beverages and a cute little souvenir stand. Definitely recommend!

It been a Houston institution since 1999. Walking into K&G's can be quite overwhelming on the first visit. There's just so much to see, be it Autographs, Caricatures, Playbill's or their delicious cakes, treats, breads, and Pickles. However, the real overwhelming experience is the menu. Anything you could possibly want is listed on the menu. I recommend looking t it online before coming, just so you can have an idea of what you might want to eat. My dad(96) and I are frequent visitors and we always seem to get the open faced roast beef, which is stacked high and there is always left overs for eating at home the next day. The pickles are a fan favorite for me, and I tend to devour several of them. This visit I decided to try the fried fish sandwich (made with halibut) with onion rings and french fries and my friend, a Houston native who had never been here, went for the Schleppy Joe with onion rings. These sandwiches were stunning and wonderful. I saved half for to go so I could have their classic New York Cheesecake... the best in the city. The entire dining experience was top notch, exactly the experience I always have. Ziggy knows how to make the customers dining experience an "experience", I have never had a bad one, from the service down to the cleanliness of the entire place. In this review I want to give a special shout out to Beverly, our server, as she was amazing and whom I recommend. She practically read our minds and was an absolute star. My niece wanted the chocolatey-est dessert on the menu so our awesome waiter (a very personable and kind guy) recommended a multi-layered chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and we decided to have it a la mode. He asked if we wanted it hot or warm. We ordered it warm and in hindsight we wish we'd ordered it hot but it was still perfect for a chocolate fix. He even brought out a candle for the cake when he found out her birthday was coming up the following week. I also ordered a cheesecake and we shared each other's desserts. Needless to say we had plenty to take home and we thoroughly enjoyed it the following day as well and at a hotter temperature that was perfect with soft serve ice cream.

I had the seasonal jalapeño pepper jack bagel, Asiago and cinnamon. For the schmears I got the cinnamon, scallion, and jalapeño. The worker told me the best way to heat it up which was to air fry it for about 5 min and it did stay nice and soft inside while slightly crispy outside. I loved the scallion cream cheese because it comes with a shallot or mild red onion that gives it a lot of flavor. The jalapeño and cinnamon were solid. Overall, this is a good bagel spot and I like how many different bagel and schmear flavors they have. A competing popular bagel spot has recently opened in Houston and luckily they aren't very close to each other. Each have pros and cons. While those bagels are better fresh Jeff's has more options, is better priced, and has no wait time.
