Okay. Well. The Takeout Queen is here and...here we go again…read more Tonight's adventure in UberEATS roulette landed on Mayo Grill because, after living in the South for over two decades, sometimes a girl just wants catfish and shrimp. Not a five-star culinary experience. Just some comforting Southern seafood. Instead, I got a life lesson. Before I get into it, I want to be fair. Almost every review I found says this place is fantastic, so maybe I caught them on an off night, or maybe Mercury was in retrograde and my catfish offended somebody. The order arrived about 30 minutes later than expected, which probably did not help the temperature, but what followed went well beyond cold food. I ordered: - Pick Two Combo with shrimp, catfish nuggets, fries, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce - Grilled chicken salad with extra ranch - Extra ranch - Blue cheese - Special sauce A special request: Asking them not to salt the fries and to upcharge as necessary First, the positives, because there were some. They followed my requests perfectly. Everything was neatly packed, utensils and napkins were included, there was plenty of ketchup, the sauces were separated nicely, and the order was packaged with obvious care. Whoever packed it deserves recognition because they clearly cared. The portions were generous too... assuming you could eat them. Which brings me to the confusing part. The salad was incredibly underwhelming. Just limp greens with what seemed like Cajun-seasoned chicken tossed on top. It was not offensive. It was just sad. It had all the personality of an office waiting room. Then came the seafood. Friends... I have eaten catfish in tiny roadside joints, gas stations, family diners, and places so remote I was not entirely convinced they had electricity. Every single one of them was better than this. The catfish nuggets were almost entirely hard, crunchy edges and skin with very little actual fish. One sharp piece actually cut my gum. They tasted old, overfried, and suspiciously stale. Looking at them, I honestly wondered if they had been frozen, forgotten, rediscovered, and then fried out of obligation. The shrimp somehow managed to be both tiny and floppy at the same time. Temperature may have played a role, but texture and flavor were problems all on their own. The fries were cold, stale, and somehow tasted like absolutely nothing. Even if they had been salted, I am not convinced they would have developed a personality. Then there were the sauces. Everything leaned oddly sweet like someone had quietly replaced half the ingredients with corn syrup and hoped nobody would notice. I am giving two stars because I genuinely think there are two separate issues at play: The delayed delivery The actual quality of the food I received Given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I am willing to believe I may be the exception rather than the rule. But based on this meal alone, I simply cannot agree with the praise. The seafood did not taste fresh. The catfish tasted old and stale, the shrimp seemed over-frozen, and the entire meal lacked the care and quality I was hoping for. Even the seasoning somehow managed to be simultaneously overdone and underwhelming. Most disappointing of all, I was not looking for perfection. I was looking for comforting Southern seafood. Instead, I paid to become a seafood detective. Maybe I will give Mayo Grill another chance someday because so many people seem to love it, but I would genuinely like to see photos from someone else's seafood order just to reassure myself that this was not some bizarre one-off experience. I finished the evening disappointed... and still hungry. And one final note. Absolutely no disrespect to the staff. Restaurant work is hard, and this review is not about the people. It is about the meal that ended up in front of me. I sincerely hope this was an exception rather than the standard.

Inhave seen these popping up around the area and decided to check it out!…read more Ambiance: Kinda a mix between a fast food giant and a diner. Nice, clean, but nothing fancy. Service: You walk up to the counter and order. The gentleman was nice, but we did not converse too much. Food: Man this Menu is huge!!! Since it has steak in the name i went fir the Nachos (if you know me, Nachos are my thing) The portion was huge for $11! Now, i am strongly against yellow gunk cheese, and i could be wrong here, but they seem to use the super low level can gunk cheese but then re-work it into their own... maybe... but long story short it worked and did not ruin my Nachos. The steak is almost like a chipped beef or a Philly steak and was super tasty. Little char in it, some Fond if you will, otherwise basic toppings. Im gonna rate it top 5 in the Fox Vally area! It would be a contender for #2 and Maybe 1 if they switched ti a more homegrown White Cheddar. Madre still holds the title!! Otherwise they have Chicken, Fish, Burgers, Wings, and TONS of sandwiches!! Quick note, read the specials, when ordering they wont mention them but you might save some $$$ Definitely a worthwhile stop for value and a group with different tastes at they will have something for everyone!!

The tables were filthy and a bug was crawling on 1 looked like it was stuck on the filth. Service and food doesn't matter past the filth. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

I had the Majadito which is a beef/steak rice with eggs, plantains, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. A relatively simple dish when described, but the combination of flavors was delightful. And a big portion I ended up bringing some home to have for breakfast the next day. My uncle had the asada en olla, a roasted beef stew with rice that had my uncle pausing repeatedly to comment how delicious it was. And he is less of a foodie than I am, so for him to comment like that was a big compliment. We shared some steak and chicken empanadas. A bite of empanada with some of their house made hot sauce is a bite of heaven. Service was so sweet and kind, attentive but in a respectful way. This is truly a family run spot and I felt like I was a guest in their home being given a home cooked meal made with love. The restaurant is clean and cozy. The bathrooms included. And there is plentiful street parking in front and the surrounding areas. A gem in the suburbs that shouldn't be hidden. While I always look for them at the markets, I will definitely be back to this place.

We shared the lomo saltado, which was perfect. It features juicy beef with crisp veggies in a salty savory sauce that pairs perfectly with the fries and rice. We also had one of each empanada. The crust on all of them was light and flaky. The stand out flavors were the cheese and chicken, but you can't go wrong with any of them. We also had the guava lemonade, which was very refreshing. Alice's Corner is a gem in downtown Aurora, and we hope to be back soon!
