A small hidden Dive, and service was outstanding. They are super friendly and they take your order right away. I visited location two times for lunch and didn't disappoint. Had the chicken sandwich which came with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. Had their gyro plate which came with two pitas, onions, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, and all order came with crinkled fries. It can also come with a drink and ketchup on the side. The place is nostalgic with lots of old school hidden gems! Love the Elvis wall, vintage phone, and coke machine. After leaving with no explanation, I was pulled over by the police some blocks away and told that I was called out by name? And told that I was trespassed from the establishment. It's a small cozy place with 50s style. In my experience this is the best Italian beef outside of Chicago. Reasonably priced with a great selection of fast foods. Pretty good grease pit with well done not too salty or greasy fries. I had a Italian beef, fries, and Pepsi. I'm kind of giving this place an extra star for "the atmosphere." Though I usually don't care if wannabe exotic foreign restaurants try to put up trinkets to make it seem or "hip" to the easily fooled senses of the casual diner, or if rich restaurants cater to their rich yet often tasteless clientele who've sold their souls to the devil hence why they are out of touch with their senses, but this place has some cool Coke collectibles from the past, old school jukebox, and little carousel jukeboxes from the past so it's really is all a sight to see! The vintage decor was great. However, the girl taking our order was rude. I'm not at Ed Debevics so act customer friendly or get another job. Good was ok. Hoagie bun could of been better quality to hold it the meat so it didn't fall out. Again the order taker made us feel like we were an inconvenience. Not coming back. read more

There attitude sure has gone downhill. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to make a chili cheese dog. When they gave it to me it wasn't edible unless you like a log of goo. When I brought it to their attention they said that's how they do it and I said well I won't be back because I'm not paying $7 for something that I can't pick up and eat. This place is a hidden gem! It says they have been in business since 1962, and it looks like nothing has changed since then. I had an Italian beef with sweet peppers. It was the best beef I've had in a long time, possibly ever. I also ordered the fried okra and that was delicious as well. My son had a cheeseburger and he said it was the best cheeseburger he has had in 8 years (he is 8 years old ). We ordered the pizza puff for our toddler, and I sampled that as well. It was great! My husband said he liked his Chicago style hotdog and Italian beef, and it reminded him of Portillo's back when it was good! We also ordered fries, and they were good, but got a little soggy on the way home in the bag. I'm sure they would have been great if we ate them in the restaurant. I must say, I'm done with these guys forever! As I write this review it states on Yelp that they close in 57 minutes. I tried to call in my order 30 minutes ago and the message said due to high call volume they need you to leave a message. Well, dealing with this establishment in the past and their poor handling of running this business I decided to drive down there and order in person only to see a sign on the door (only in Don Walkers fashion) that states "Closed until May 31st". I get home and call to leave a message to them to let them know this was BS. Not surprisingly the phone message had now changed stating they were closed and would reopen May 31st. Tried this place out for the first time the other day. A new resident in aurora looking for some good food. I tried their steak hoagie and it was WOW. I just had their Rib Tips. I'm not a expert on Rib Tips. I believe I've only had them a few times in my life. But with that said, I really enjoyed what they offered. It was definitely plenty of food. The Tips were served in foil smothered in bque sauce with a sprinkle of pepper. They were served hot. Which is a plus for me. And they put fries on the side. Which are always good. I usually order the beef or gyro, but I decided to try something different. I asked the person who took my order what she would recommend. And she recommended the Tips. Not disappointed. I have never been treated so rudely at any restaurant as I did here, and by the owner, makes it even worse! I went in to get my daughter a hamburger and fries and I asked if they had anything that was not so fattening, so the lady suggested a grilled chicken sandwich, so I asked for it with no bun and add lettuce and tomato. I got it "to go", went home and open the container and under the tomato and lettuce was a lil piece of chicken, I was very shocked, I called the place and told the lady how small the chicken was and she told me to bring it back, I told her I couldn't come back for 2 hrs. and she said ok, so I asked her, so that means I have to wait 2hrs to eat and she said YEP. I took the sandwich back 2 hrs later, went inside, and a different lady asked me what I needed, I explained to her what was wrong and the owner came out of the back (he is the one that cooked the lil piece of chicken) and as he opened the register I let him know I didn't want the chicken anymore, that I would take a cheese burger without the bun, well as I was saying that he reached in to the register and took out a $5 bill and threw it at me, yes, he threw it at me, and it floated to the ground and I asked him what are you doing, I didn't want my money back, I wanted a burger instead, and he acted like I wasn't even talking to him. When I was there earlier to get my food he was trying to give a delivery guy a free sandwich, he was more interested in that guy then a paying customer and that's why he messed up my order. I will never eat there again, The restaurant next to them told me he is a rude man to a lot of people. He lost my business and all my friends and family. I hope it was worth it to him. This has been an Aurora Establishment for as long as I can remember. Everytime I, or my family come here, we have the steak sandwich, so that is all I have to base of of this restaurant. With that said, the steak sandwich is fantastic. It is on toasted buttered bread, sauteed onions, mushroom sauce and the patty. It's a heart attack on a plate but wow is it good. The interior has a 50's diner throwback feel to it. There is a ton of memorabilia including old jukeboxes and posters from the 50's. The place is quaint and only has around 5 or 6 booths, but most people I notice only come in for pick up. The staff is friendly even when it's busy. If you are in Aurora and want to try some greasy diner food this is a place to check out. Sorry I can't give any other recommendations than the steak sandwich. read more

Don Walker's is average, greasy fast food. Based on how long this place has been in business, I think it survives based on the nostalgic feeling some people might have for Don Walker's. It is nice to have small businesses like this in my neighborhood, but there isn't anything special about it. Hot dogs, pizza puffs, Italian beef sandwiches, fries - they're all over in the Chicago suburbs. Food is cheap. Two of us ate here for $15. But the cheese fries (hard to mess up cheese fries) were limp and soggy, and the sauce was bland (even for liquid cheese). All of the food was packaged in individual, soggy, wax paper bags. You can take your food to go, but I would recommend staying and eating at Don Walker's because the food was cold even after a very short drive home. I love small businesses, but I'm more likely to go to Portillo's for my beef and cheese fry fix. read more

I had to stop in this place after driving by. The name is so absurd and awesome. The lot was filled at lunch so I had to park on the street. Imagine a beef joint from the 70's pulling off a 50's motif. That is what this place looks like. It is pristine, clean, and preserved. I love how weird and old school it is. I ordered a beef combo. It was pretty tasty. The sausage was really good. There aren't many beef joints besides Dicky P's, but this place is hidden and cool. There are a ton of sandwiches on the menu and your standard fast food fare. I want to go back and try a beef roll. Beef rolled in pizza dough and baked. I used to eat this in college at NIU. Molly's I believe. It was great then, but maybe I have to be hungover to give it a go. There is an Aurora motorcycle patch on the wall that is awesome cool. Worth the trip just to see that. Oh and they have a mini fridge with bottles of coke and soda if you know how to enjoy life properly. read more

Six months ago, Don's would've gotten 4 stars. After the last two trips there, it rates barely 1. And that's only because they were timely. (I figured one bad experience was understandable, so we'd give them another chance.) Used to be pretty good, and at a fairly reasonable price. The last experiences were horrible...... Half warm food, or overdone. I'll pay $3.99 for a side of onion rings, but not when they're covered in black little over fried pieces of something. Hot dogs were barely warm, and smashed beyond recognition. And I've never seen a more measly Italian beef in my life. It was enough to make any Chicagoan cry. Don's take out menu has been thrown away, number deleted from our phones, and they will never see us again. And we live 6 blocks away! Bye bye Don...... *ack ack ack* read more

Food is pretty good. As close as I've seen to an actual Chicago style hot dog around aurora. Beef is also not bad. Gyros Plate needs a little work as the pita is always over done. Plus you only get one. Make sure to pay attention when they ring you up. They will over charge you. The menu says you can add a soda for 99 cents to a plate. I was charged 2.25. Also on another occasion I was charged 3.99 for a hot dog when the menu lists it as 2.50. Food is pretty good. Just watch your wallet. read more
