They have changed everything about the New Yorker. The sandwhich has less meat ( although) they are charging less, no doubt, the sandwhich is much smaller. Also they no longer offer you the small cup of either the potato salad or coleslaw anymore. if you want both the fee was another $3.00. Why are they doing this? We won't be back! I'm hoping the other original New York Deli in St. Clair shores is not doing these changes. I told my waitress the sandwhich was horrible. She said she didn't think they did anything different. I grew up on supremely operated party stores of ole like Buscemi's and Lou's Party Store, so when I looked at the facade of this edifice, I was less than impressed. I still decided to go in, and I'm glad I did. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the expanse of the store. It doesn't look as big from the outside, but it is very spacious. Yes they have all of the neighborhood party store staples you would expect - cold pop, water, beer, energy drinks and so forth. There is beef jerky, candy, and chips of many varieties as well. I didn't expect the hot food to be so good though. The pizza, with old world pepperoni, was really good. Much better than Domino's, Little Caesar, and the like. But it didn't stop there. Ribs and potatoes were cooked well. My only wonder would be what they do with them if it doesn't sell quickly. Would you throw it out? Would you discount it? Discount it heavily? Those questioned may be answered on future visits. Suffice it to say, this neighborhood party store has everything you would expect that it should have and more. And yes, they do indeed have liquor and cigarettes for my degenerate followers who need to know. This is not just a great convenience when in the area, but it's an overall great spot.
