My husband was there last Friday 7/31 & he sent me pictures of the menu. Actually, he wanted to go back the next day because he saw items we should try. He came home shortly after & didn't have his phone & to double check I called him & it was not in his car. So I called Pete's right away (Sat. AM) The girl who answered remembered my husband and said he told her he left his phone at the bar he was at before he got to Pete's. He just had sent me pics just before of their menu. Proof he had his phone. At that point we shut his phone down. She outright lied, owner was there that night also. My husband stopped by to see if it had been turned in. He was told they had to review the tapes from camera. We called later that evening & got hung up on. Cost us a new phone & we all know phones are not cheap to the cost of $1200.00. I wanted to believe this place had turned a corner after being featured on Bar Rescue, but what I observed afterward made it clear that whatever changes were made did not stick. Responsible alcohol service did not appear to be a priority. It was common to see visibly intoxicated patrons continue to be served, sometimes to the point where their condition was hard to ignore, and then leave without any meaningful intervention. That alone raises serious concerns about community safety. Operationally, there seemed to be very little oversight. Staff were regularly left to close the bar without an owner or manager present, despite the volume of cash moving through the business. Inventory tracking appeared inconsistent, with many items rung in under vague or generic categories rather than clearly documented. From a customer perspective, it felt chaotic and loosely managed. There also seemed to be a culture of excessive comping of drinks and blurred boundaries between ownership and patrons, which created an unprofessional atmosphere. Instead of structure and accountability, the environment felt improvised. What ultimately changed my perception permanently was how a legitimate health issue was handled. When I was unable to come in due to a serious medical situation and communicated that honestly, the response escalated quickly and aggressively rather than being handled with professionalism. That experience alone made it clear that people are disposable here. If you're looking for a bar that prioritizes responsible service, professionalism, and consistent management standards, I would think carefully before choosing this one. The optics may look improved from television, but the underlying culture did not appear to change. read more

Really wanted to like this place. But they were on Bar Rescue for a reason. Even after the show aired the bartenders were vaping behind the bar while serving. The go-to Reuben was not memorable and somewhat dry. If you aren't a regular you're treated like a nuisance. Too many other places that deserve your business more! read more

Went to Pete's one other time it was a football Sunday tried their wings they were very good watched a football game we had a pretty enjoyable experience. So decided to try them on a Friday night what a mistake first of all I would like to get the attention of all restaurant owners and let them know service is number one. Please read this review if you are a restaurant owner or considering going into the restaurant business. There was literally two people working the entire restaurant one bartender and one person cooking the bartender was waiting tables serving taking care of the bar and providing service to any carryout patrons the cook was hiding in the kitchen. Upon being seated the bartender eventually came running over to the table and said is there anything I can get for you and then ran off came back with our initial order about five minutes later so we knew we better order something quick so we ordered some wings and a fish dinner and off she ran I could go on but I don't want to ramble but this was just a terrible experience let me put it to you this way the food was totally awesome when it finally arrived and anything I asked for other than what was on the plate for instance tartar sauce for the fish it only came after multiple requests by then the fish was cold and unedible the VIP sandwich took 45 minutes to arrive when asked what's going on the bartender simply said oh we have a GrubHub order going out .........really? Being a qualified judge of restaurants I should have known when I saw the Help Wanted sign in the window never go to a restaurant with Help Wanted signs posted this is a dead giveaway you will probably get terrible service. I may come back for the food but probably not. Because the sandwich, fish, and Wings are very very good when warm or hot I don't think you'll get it that way. We were disappointed. Seems like a real local hotspot as many of the patrons knew each other. Great waitstaff. The 3 of us ordered the Lamplighter Corned beef Sandwiches with Tater Tots. The 1/4 lb sandwiches were just OK as the bread seemed overtoasted. Each sandwich came with a ton of Tater Tots that were just good. The meal seemed overpriced as the sandwiches were nothing special. One of the ladies with us used the restroom which she said was "disgusting". Be careful when driving into the parking lot as there are several large potholes that needs repair. read more

Giving a one star based on service. Unfortunately the service was so slow and non friendly we decided to get a drink and leave. To bad I wanted to try the Reuben. 4:00 on Friday afternoon, bar had 12+ people and us and one other table. And one waitress ( dark long poney tail). Wish I would have timed it but it took a long time for the one waitress to come to our table take our drink order. It was almost uncomfortable as this looked like a neighborhood regular place. She could have at least acknowledged us from the bar saying I'd be there in a minute but nothing. When she did come to the table she just said what are you drinking. Not hi or hello just a very mundane voice. We ordered a beer and a mixed drink. She never asked what size beer and brought out a BIGGIE. That would be alright for a big guy but you would normally ask a 130 lb female what size!! 15 minutes later and husband done with drink....no waitress. 30 minutes later he goes up to bar and cashes out. We are at Biggs down the street now having dinner. 3x the people and the waitress was at our table in 30 seconds with a smile! 3 minutes later we had drinks and placed order. Went with my family and had a couple beers and grabbed some food. Figured we would try somewhere new. My dad ordered the roast beef sandwich and it had a fish taste to it for some reason. My brother ordered some sort of club sandwich and it looked big in the photo on the menu and it was about a quarter of the size when he got it. I ordered nachos and they were horrible with absolutely no flavor at all. The DJ showed up and that was also interesting and slightly annoying when he blew into a blow horn over and over again. Today was me & my daughters first time eating at "Pete's Cutting board tavern " on Gratiot Ave in Chesterfield Mi. We purchased 2 pops, mini tacos, fried mushrooms, tater tots, & the 1/2 Lb corned beef sandwich. Everything tasted fine; except for the corned beef sandwich. When it came to the table it smelled wrong. It had brown meet, not pink. It looked like roast beef. I took one bite. It didn't taste like corned beef. I told the waitress all this. She went to check in the back. She came back and said that it was corned beef. I told her it didn't taste right. I only ate the one bite. I couldn't eat the sandwich. It did not taste good. When she came with the check, I told her that I felt she should not have even charged me for the sandwich since it was obvious something was wrong with it. But she had the full $16.00 for the sandwich on the bill. I told her I ordered the sandwich so I'll pay for it. Since she felt it appropriate to still charge me for it. I did tell her that was my first time visiting there restaurant, & it would be the last. I advised her I would not come back based on how I was treated. Considering all of that; she still never once offered to credit me for the sandwich. When I got home approximately 3 hours later, I had some of the worst diahreia I have ever had. We had a group of four go there for a couple of beers and a sandwich. The waitress was very slow and mildly rude. Our friend ordered a vodka and tonic that took three times to get it correct. The waitress spent more time standing at the bar than working. We never ordered lunch. I've been to Pete's three times. Each time was for a lunch carry out. The food was great. When I place my order, I was told 15 minutes, and it was ready in 15 Minutes. Now to be fair, they open at 11 am. I placed my order around Noon, so there wasn't a big lunch rush in the bar yet. But I'll be back. One disturbing thing is they used to have a nice menu with color photo on line. It seems to have disappeared. Don't know if that means something bad, but I like seeing a menu with photos. read more

Pete's is one of my favorite bar / restaurants. The meats & cheeses are really high quality for burgers & sandwiches. The appetizers, subs & pizza are also satisfying. Pete's Cutting Board is a good place to stop in for Food & Drinks anytime. The owner and his staff are very friendly and accommodating even when it is busy. I recommend trying the Ruben on Rye Bread, the Cheeseburger, Club Sandwich, Mozzarella Sticks, and I also love the nachos!!!! Was looking for a great burger. A friend recommended this place. It turned out to be exactly what i was looking for. We had 1/2 lb burgers and fries and homemade onion rings. The were prefect, tasted great and of good quality. Were told that they have the best corned beef sandwiches around and some patrons confirmed that to us. If you don't like a bar scene this place might not be for you would definitely miss out out on the great food and service. The meal prices are also mush better that similar places in the area. I have tried nearly every combination of their menu and not once have i been dissapointed. You want carry out? Its there hot and delicious every time. The beverages are expertly crafted. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff is incredible... Basically if they installed a hotel on the top of the building i would move in and never leave. The owners of this establishment have polished every aspect of the bar-going experience and should be proud of the work they have put in!!!
