We visited this location and it's pretty much brand new. The subs are delicious and made to order. I love the big kahuna which is philly cheese steak with jalapeños onion and mushroom. For an extra kick I get the crushed red peppers too. The only reason giving 3 instead of 4 stars is the staff was clearly new and very young. The kid that made my sandwich forgot to give me wheat bread and crushed red peppers which were the only two things that differentiated my sub from a standard order. I gave it back to him so he could at least add the peppers. Was also a bit bummed that the tables weren't wiped when we sat down considering there were 3 kids on their phones behind the counter and the place was empty. Overall food is what we've come to expect from jersey mikes and the staff will mature, not a bad experience. read more

Going to go out on a limb and say that service/training isn't their strongest suit. I ordered two subs (one cold and one hot). They explained "Mike's Way" - lettuce, onion, tomato, oil/vinegar, salt/pepper - and asked if I wanted it on my cold sub. "No, but I'll take it on my hot sub," I said. The guy said they don't do that and he'd have to ask his manager. (I thought that was weird, but ok, whatever.) So yeah, they said they'd do it. I paid, left with my subs, went to another store, came back to eat outside. My hot sub wasn't cut... AND it was missing some of the "Mike's way" fixings (they didn't put lettuce or onions, only tomatoes.) I went back to the shop and asked for a knife. The guy behind the counter: "Why do you need a knife, bro, it's a sandwich?" I said my sub wasn't cut. "Well use your hands bro. Actually I don't know where the utensils are. I'll have to ask my manager." OMG Regarding the subs... they are barely edible. But if you're going to Jersey Mike's, you either don't care or have the palette of a 2 year old. read more

My first impression when I walked in the door and every employee screamed, "Welcome to Jersey Mikes!"was "Let me out of here.". I ordered the combo, but was just handed the sandwich. I was expected to know how to obtain the cup for the drink and the chips myself. I ordered the original Philly cheese steak. It was very good, but very wet and messy. I paid $13 for this. I could have gotten the same meal at Subway for $7. Mike's was better because the meat was warmed on a grill and Subway uses the microwave. Subway's bread it better, though. They should consider lowering the prices to remain competitive. Also, my Pepsi tasted strange and I realized why...it was actually Dr. Pepper, but I drank it. read more

Came for the buy one get one free regular sized sub (about $8.50 each regularly) offer a few weeks ago, which was maybe about a month after the grand opening. When I first stopped by Jersey Mike's Subs they had way too many employees on hand. Later they had about half as much. If you were scared by the amount of people greeting you before, don't be. Jersey Mike's Subs has become a lot more anti-social friendly. I was excited to try Jersey Mike's Subs because of the excellence of the three other shops which have opened up in the new Hale Mahana Apartments building. These include Raising Cane's and Pieology (haven't tried but have heard good things), and also Starbucks which has just opened up. I won't go so far as to say I was let down, but I was also not blown away. I've tried two of their kahuna sandwiches now (one was a Philly cheese steak on the recommendation of a review here) and while my memory is fuzzy, I don't believe there was much either to complain about or commend, taste wise. The bread was ok, the meat and cheese were ok, the sauce was ok. "Decent but average" would sum up my experience at Jersey Mike's Subs, except that I do remember thinking the price of the sandwich ($8.50) was too high for the amount that you got (about half a Subway footlong, which is similarly priced these days), and the deficit wasn't made up for. Service was about the same as Subway's (actually, slower, because at Jersey Mike's they have to slice the meat in front of you--a gimmick which honestly doesn't make any difference in flavor), the venue was similar, the atmosphere was similar. Really there's nothing special to account for how much a Jersey Mike sandwich is, except maybe if you really want a Philly cheese steak sandwich with a lot of meat. In that case you do get a variety of good options which I think you will be pleased with. I would try more of Jersey Mike Sub's if there was another special going on, but I can't see myself patronizing this new sandwich place much especially since I quite like having the option of piling as much vegetables as I want at Subway's. Jersey Mike Sub's doesn't advertise itself as a quick and healthy food option like Subway's and that's fine, but they should at least be good at the one thing which makes them special, which is primarily the Philly cheese sandwich at this point. Give that bread, meat and cheese some flavor, guys. For real. read more

this is a reliable mike's. tastes consistent and very fast. yay to double points days. yes, they screw up once in a while. and mostly, if you call them to complain or someone via the app--no one will correct diddly. but overall service is friendly, professional even--and i come back repeatedly for their food. our favs are chipotle cheesesteak, italian, tuna, corned beef... wish they had a place you could drive up and pick up your sub--so it's a little bit of a drama to park and run in--but could be worse. at least this place is one worthwhile thing i enjoy after losing old university square read more

The wife and I decided to try them out a few weeks ago. With the economy in the toilet like it is, she found a coupon in the mail to help defray the growing cost of eating out, so in we went. The place was empty, save for a couple of guys behind the counter. I decided to use the bathroom while the wife decided on what she wanted. Sadly, the bathroom was pretty gross. After ordering, the kid who rang up our sale asked my wife for her email, which she declined to give. He stated is was for her reciept, so she asked for a printed one instead. He then went in the back to talk to one of the other guys, then returned and provided a paper receipt. What's the big deal? When our sandwiches were brought forward, again, the kid asked for an email address, which I also declined, so he asked for a phone number. I said no again, thinking this can't get any worse. That's when the "manager" stepped up and said the discount only applies if you provide the "required information." I did everything but tell him to go pound sand, and refused. He conceded, and out the door we went. When I got home, my sandwich was heavily laden with salt. I mean....a lot of freaking salt. Purposely ruining a sandwich is no excuse for not getting an email or phone number. No, I'm not entering into a "relationship" with your business, no I don't want any more coupons or junk mail, and I certainly don't want any of your sandwiches. Given the economic downturn in recent years, (much like Ruby Tuesdays), I give them a year or two before they're out of business. read more

So there I was drinking last night and I needed to eat something that could soak up all the alcohol, I decided to go get a sub which is as big as my thigh, I told the guy give me a phat piece of bread meat and cheese, he concocted the rest and of course I was going to eat it, who wouldn't? I'm not craving a 5 star or Michelin star rated food item, I'm just craving a fast and easy sub. So that's what happened, I got my sub last night. I didn't sober up but that's okay the sub was bombastic. And today somehow I craved another sub, this time I made sure to get it how I would want it. I told the guy give me a #42 hold the cheese and they did, Thank be to the Sub gods. The sub with chicken, onion, peppers is perfect and doesn't need the tomato, lettuce, vinegar, spice. The lack of management in this place is absolutely ridiculous. There were 2 people working, younger kid with long hair and a girl. You can tell they were frazzled. Being patient is no issue, I've been there! But the lack of organization was a disgrace. The fact that 2 girls behind us got their sandwiches made first and the people ahead of us were still waiting (for a long time) meanwhile we were just waiting was not okay. I must of said 3 different times "no cheese" and every time, cheese was put on it. I'm a huge person when It comes to service, besides quality of food and environment. The store was clean. Service was particularly fast. My sub was partially cold which was slightly disappointing. I Came in really excited to try this place for the first time. I live in McCully so it was close by. I heard by word of mouth their subs were good, so I had to experience it myself. My experience was unfortunately ruined by their terrible customer service. A bunch of young amateurs running the joint (no surprise it being a UH Manoa location). The young girl rushed me and was rude to my friend and I asking me to pay already when I clearly was still choosing my options. When my sub was ready she gave my friend a dirty look when he said thank you. The young kid who made my sandwich had a confused look on his face & kept rushing to have me pay. It would have been nice if they rung up my order after* my friend and I subs were done being made. But 2 employees rushing me to pay felt rude. (There was no line, only ones in the store) I hope I don't get the same rude experience if I ever go there again. I'll never forget how rude and melancholy that girl was though. read more

I wanted to thank the employees who worked the night of 10/18. Not only did they allow me to make a few modifications to my order through DoorDash, but they went above and beyond after DoorDash canceled my order. See I couldn't go in store because I wa in the hospital (I told this to the staff member who answered the phone) , so I ordered outside food due to the hospital cafeteria screwing up my dinner meal. By the time DoorDash canceled my order I couldn't reorder because the store closing soon that night. I called the store and asked when they closed and if I sent a family member to pick it would I be able to get the sub they had made for me. They said yes and even said if it was 30 minutes past closing it would be okay. My mom got there ready to pay and they said not to worry. When I got my sub and it was exactly what I wanted. So from the bottom of my heart thank you to the entire crew who worked that night, you made that night in the hospital so much better read more

Update 6/26/19 I must say things have changed at this JM's location. Mr chow has been back many times now (at least 2x a week) and thought I should commend Gabby and staff. Shout out to Mary! I guess you could say they got "the kinks out" after being open for awhile now and everyone is on the same page. Id like to think that the owners know how awesome Gabby is. Top notch customer service to say the least. She runs the place as if she's the owner. (maybe she is?) Mr Chow highly recommends #17 with mushrooms. They also have a tasty tuna. Mr Chow no longer visits that other sandwich place. Easy 5 stars for making things better, friendly staff, and the place always clean. read more

Really liked Jersey Mike's from my experiences of them on the mainland. Needless to say was pretty pumped to see them come to Hawaii. Convinced my pregnant girlfriend to try them for lunch. Unfortunately we were completely disappointed on every level, and sadly if they keep this up I don't see this store surviving. 1) Service was shotty. Girl making the sandwiches seemed untrained, unmotivated and extremely clueless. When I mentioned my lady was pregnant so could she please heat up the meat for her, she had no idea what or how to do this. 2) The subs are pricey. Living in Hawaii you get used to increased prices for things. I think each regular sub was well over $12. Add a couple drinks and your easily pushing $30 for 2 subs and 2 bottles of water. 3) The taste isn't there. I don't know if the salt/pepper weren't there (had it Mikes way) but the sub tasted flat to me. I remember they shave the meat fresh, well meant to; don't actually recall them doing that while we were in the store. 4) My girlfriends meat on her sub was cold. Asked special for it to be heated as the standard food precaution for pregnant ladies and appeared it was done was but not to be. By the time we realised we were away from the store and she threw her $15 sub away. Aweeeeeesome. Overall a crappy experience, won't be back. Kinda amazed how off the mark it was really. read more
