I have had Jersey Mike's a couple times now and "meh" is pretty much my thoughts. Everyone raves about them....I don't know why. They're on par with Sheetz subs (which are ok don't get me wrong) but cost about twice as much. I spent $20 on my "giant" sub which is a little bigger than a footlong (I think). If there was a Quiznos or Jimmy John's NOT downtown where pay to park is a thing I probably wouldn't have bothered with this place. I did. It was ok. Not great. read more

What a great team that Matt has at this location - and they know how to make an awesome sub as well! We ordered 8 subs on New Years Eve and each one had a little tweak. They didn't miss anything and it was all stellar. The ingredients were great. The hot subs were hot, the cold ones cold - and that was after we got them home 15 minutes later to eat! On First Night, when Allen Street was swamped, they gave us a 20 minute target to have all the food ready and even gave us pointers on where to park with streets closed downtown. First time at Jersey Mike's! After seeing their ads CONSTANTLY on tv, we realized that we would finally be near one when we went to State College. So, before the game actually started, we wandered downtown and stopped in at Jersey Mike's. Their portion sizes are generous, their food was delicious, but my favorite part was definitely the service and hospitality. I didn't know what "Mike's Way" was and I asked and was told in a way that did not feel at all condescending which, not going to lie, was nice. I had the Italian sub and it was great! The second best sub place I've ever been to (after DiBella's). Completely worthy of five stars. The bread options were small but each looked amazing - white, wheat, and some sort of cheesy parmesan herb bread. I obviously went with the lattermost and it was SO good! Definitely get it "Mike's Way" if you don't mind oil, vinegar, oregano, spices, and lettuce, onions, and tomato. The veggies were all really fresh and the meat was on point too! When it comes to a fast sandwich for lunch, Jersey Mike's blows Subway out of the water. Jersey Mike's is all about the deli sub, hot or cold sandwiches filled with meats, cheeses, and veggies. To me, the best thing on the menu are the sandwiches filled with italian meats like capicolla ham done "Mike's Way" with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil/vinegar, and spices. The meats are good and flavorful, the veggies are fresh and crisp, and the sandwich is big enough to fill you up. The cheesesteaks aren't bad either, and are better than the so-called "cheesesteaks" that you can buy elsewhere. The style is similar to a real philly steak with thinly slices beef and american cheese (as opposed to the abominations with bell peppers and mushrooms that you sometimes find). If you come here often, I highly recommend joining their customer loyalty program. You earn points by making orders that you can use to get sandwiches. Perfect for if you make this your regular lunch spot. There might still be better sandwiches around, but this is a chain that does it right! read more

They slice the meat right in front of you, the bread is fresh and homemade, and the veggies are crisp. The "super" was good- around $6.50 for the regular. Jersey Mikes is the pinnacle of subs. Now, I'm not from NYC and I don't frequent famous delis. But to me, this place is subs done right. Meat and cheese carved in front of you, fantastic bread that's baked fresh (actually fresh, not Subway fresh), CRISPY bacon, and high quality yuppies set this place far and above your generic Subway/Quiznos fare. Getting it Mike' way give you tomatoes and onions with Italian herbs, olive oil and red wine vinegar. The sub, defying all reason and science, is actually better the next day when it's soaked and gotten soggy. The bread is high quality and still holds together well. I believe they offer chipotle mayo, which I'm gonna try in my next club sub. Only cons: pricey for subs, and their club subs are either beef and turkey or beef and ham, not all 3 as I'm accustomed to. read more

I see lots of comments about Jersey Mike's being better than Subway or Jimmy Johns. Sure, but those are bottom barrel restaurants. When compared to a more proper franchise, such as Firehouse Subs or Penn Station East Coast Subs, Jersey Mike's only gets a passing grade. The sandwiches are good, but by the time you get a bag of chips and a drink you are spending $13 for the 7 1/2 inch version of the super. The fresh sliced meat thing actually bothers me because it opens you up to more chances of cross-contamination. The cheesesteaks are bad so just skip those and the chicken. Some of the other sandwiches, such as the super are good. The lettuce is just bland iceberg with a lot of core, but the rest seem fairly freshly sliced. I can do without the oil/vinegar combo or whatever it is they put on, but that is just me. The bread is good, but not on a level with East Coast or Firehouse. Same with the meats; they are good, not great and get beat by others such as Boar's Head. A good sub place, but I would prefer a East Coast Subs or since there isn't one around, Fraser Street Deli is a better option. read more

I grew up in Point Pleasant Beach and couldn't wait for Jersey Mike's to open. Their Grand Opening was busy - insanely busy - because they were doing a huge fundraiser. I waited 45 minutes in a line that went out the door and down the street. If Christian (the other reviewer) was there that weekend, I don't blame them for not heating his sandwich. Their subs are authentic and delicious, and the atmosphere is very NJ shore. Sure Subway will heat a sub but their sandwiches suck and so does their service at a lot of locations. I have personally experienced having an employee laugh at me and then get another employee from the back to come out and laugh at me because I wanted a sub without any meat.
