Dr. Lanzon and his staff are excellent - knowledgeable, trustworthy and caring are the three words I would use to describe their services. I would highly recommend Dr. Lanzon for any dental work that you may need. To give you and idea of what I experienced for my procedure, here is a summary: My teeth, mostly due to genetics and a love of sugar, were starting to get past the point where they could be saved and rather than keep fixing them one at time for the rest of my life, I made the decision to remove them and replace them with upper and lower implants. This decision was not an easy one but one that was necessary. With the help of Dr. Lanzon and Dr. Oquist (my dentist), we worked out a treatment and replacement plan that would have the most chance of success. Nothing is guaranteed with this type of major dental work but, after several consultations with Dr. Lanzon, I was confident that he could provide the expertise needed for this "upgrade". And I already knew and trusted that my dentist, who would be coordinating the final appliances (teeth) that would be attached to the implants, was well versed in the process as well. So even though I had no idea what to expect, they did - and their confidence helped to prepare me for what was to come. First step in the process was to remove my lower teeth, but because I was unsure of how I would react to the removal of my teeth, I decided to just remove half and let the necessary bone grafts become established. In looking back, I should have taken their recommendation to have them all removed at once but to their credit they worked with my two-step plan so that I would feel more comfortable. It turned out that they were right, and that my decision resulted in having to endure one extra healing process (about two months) that could have been avoided had I taken their advice. So the lesson learned here was to accept their advice!! A few months after this first removal of teeth, I had the remaining lower teeth removed. After pulling the teeth, five implant posts were added. Then a temporary fixed denture was fabricated to fit the posts and attached. All of this was done in a one day session and I was under anesthesia for the entire time so I had no idea what was happening and no pain. When I left his office that day I had new bottom teeth, temporary but impossible to tell that they were not real. The healing process was brutal for the first few days with lots of rest and enough pain pills to survive. I could not eat normally so it was milk shakes, smoothies, applesauce and mashed potatoes for about a week, and then small sliced up food that could be soft chewed for the next two weeks. After that it was back to normal for food but still staying on the less chewy side of foods so that the healing and strengthening process could continue. Six months later, I had the upper teeth removed, five implant posts were added and then a temporary denture fabricated and attached. Same healing process although the upper implant procedure caused much more swelling than the lower but recovery time was about the same. Six months after this, we started the process of fabricating the permanent teeth to fit the now sturdy posts. It took a few tweaks to get the teeth just right but once completed they were attached to the posts and have been attached ever since. Now almost two years after starting the process, I have a perfect set of teeth and a beautiful smile :-) I am happier, definitely healthier, and all thanks to Dr. Lanzon and Dr. Oquist. I highly recommend them whether you are just doing a small procedure or going for a complete dental replacement. They are well qualified, but more importantly they care about you and your smile. Our experience with Dr.Jesse was better than we could have dreamed. Preparing for wisdom teeth extractions for twins and trying to wade through the insurance paperwork was a breeze because of the knowledge and professionalism of the front office staff. They went out of their way to accommodate us and get both boys scheduled together so we didnt have to make multiple appointments. They also were constantly asking us if we needed anything or if they could get us anything. Prior to and during the surgeries Dr. Jesse took precautions to prevent the boys from getting sick from anesthesia which was our biggest concern due to prior surgery experiences.The back office staff was so helpful in caring for the boys during and after surgery. I couldn't have been more happier to be seen by Dr. Lanzon and his staff. All were so helpful with everything I needed regarding pre-op and post-op questions. I came in with cracked molars and extensive pain and needed to get extractions done to proceed with orthodontic care. He walked me through everything I needed to know regarding ALL my teeth and jaw, and reassured me that the procedure would be as smooth as possible under his care. And he was right! Reckon it's only been one day post-op for me but it's as if I didn't even get the procedure done. I also appreciated that Dr. Lanzon even called to check up how I was doing. I was a bit nervous thinking about getting an implant. But all that went away immediately upon meeting Dr. Lanzon and his All Star staff. First off Dr. Lanzon is amazing. He is friendly and knowledgeable and has a great smile. He really listens to your concerns and does a fantastic job of answering all of your questions. His confidence in what he does and the manner in which he speaks to you makes you feel safe and right at home. I really trust him. Our daughter, a student at UCSB was in a skateboarding accident near campus. She had fallen on her chin and was unconscious. She was taken to the ER and was in a lot of pain. Her father and I live in Florida and we were very worried about her condition and care. I called Dr Lanzon's office and they were very kind, sympathetic and responsive. Dr Lanzon saw her before his office hours the next morning. He spoke with my husband and I by phone while our daughter was in his office. He is continuing to care for her and follow her recovery. Who would have thought oral surgery (4 extractions) could ever be a pleasurable experience? Well, somehow this office figured out how to do just that. I have never felt so comfortable and cared for at a doctor's office before. Every person I dealt with in this office delivered top notch service. Dr Lanzon even walked me out to my car after the procedure (perhaps he does that for everyone but still a nice touch). I had no pain whatsoever and very little swelling after the procedure. Dr Lanzon seriously has the best bed side manner I've ever seen in a doctor. Explained everything thoroughlyt, showed great care and concern for my well being and comfort. I was very nervous about getting my tooth pulled and during the procedure he was very gentle and walked me through the whole thing. I had a tooth that needed to be pulled. Dr. Lanzon was in Santa Barbara and drove back to Lompoc just to take care of my tooth. He is a wonderful and compassionate dentist with an excellent staff.
