Please read the entire review... Horrible case of food poisoning from this location on Saturday, January 2, 2016. I'm not writing this review to bash the business, but more so for them to take note of health issues at their location and for others who had the same experience I did this weekend to also comment. Woke up Saturday morning wanting a late breakfast and my girlfriend offered to hit Jessen's. We got some of the chicken salad with apple and cranberry which we had tried for the first time last week. We made some sandwiches on a bagel she also got from Jessen's. In less than an hour my stomach was sour and I got progressively worse as the day went on. My girlfriend's symptoms began shortly after, and we spent the remaining Saturday evening and most of the overnight into Sunday morning feeling awful. I'm never going back. I honestly hope however someone from there reads this and evaluates what's going on. read more

Once upon I time, I too worked for a deli as a summer job. I empathize with handling big crowds, demanding customers, and frustrated bosses. That being said, I'm appalled at the service that I had gotten today. I'm also appalled at how radical the price changes are on the establishment's register versus their menu and the two large menu boards hanging up behind the counter. When I'm about to give you my money for food--when I can very well go right across the street--make it an easy, consistent, pleasurable transaction. Is that too much to ask? Apparently! Especially after waiting thirty minutes to only be overcharged. Oh, and $4.25 for twelve ounces of chicken rice soup? Buzz off. It was flavorless, and someone thought it would be brilliant to throw mashed up grilled chicken in there. Absolutely awful. Thirty bucks for a microwaved hero special; two tiny, poorly-made soups; and a small spinach salad that should cost me almost ten dollars because I asked for no cheese and bacon, but some bell pepper instead. (apparently substitutions cost $.75, even though the substitution is cheaper than the original additive. Kudos to the bald guy with the Napoleon complex behind the counter...) One star for the quality of the salad. No wilted greens is always a plus in my book. However, I'll never be back here again and when I LOVE or HATE a food establishment, I make it a point to let everyone know my respective feelings so that they don't have to waste their precious time, or money. read more

I love this deli, I've been here numerous times to grab a quick breakfast with my boyfriend. They have a small coffee bar for you to put together your own coffee, and the coffee cup lids are very pleasant happy teddy bear lids. The egg sandwich that I get for breakfast is awesome and my boyfriend bought a panini for dinner one time and it was good enough to feed two people. The staff was super friendly and the display cases were full of what looked like fresh salads and panini prepped options and more. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! The food is great and the staff is awesome. But like any really good deli, sometimes you just have to wait. The wait time isnt unreasonable either. There might be a morning and afternoon "rush" but, I would suggest if you are in a rush, like i usually am, call in your order so you can run in and out. The food is always fresh and its always good. Jessen's is my first and last stop when I go home to Long Island. The food is always fresh and their sandwiches and salads are amazing. What's better than a breakfast sandwich on a roll? Nothing! Well, except perhaps their amazing Fried Chicken Salad ~ it is unique, original and has a bit of a kick. Their "healthy cole slaw" is among my favorites, along with their carrot, walnut and raisin salad. I've ordered "to go" meals to bring back to my friends in Virginia and they are always spot-on. We also have catered from Jessens for many parties (heros, fried chicken, salads) and brunches. We have always gotten compliments on the food. Jessen's Deli is a well run, well staffed delicatessen. When you first walk in you see a Island filled with nice healthy food choices. The staff that work there are fast and always friendly. They make you food quick and care about what they do. The place it's had poor parking out front. You really have to be careful because cars are so close together. Inside however is spacious and clean. I love the look of the interior also. Very modern and new looking. They use quality food in whatever they make, so if you eat healthy and love fresh food, have them make you a sandwich. I enjoy many sandwiches from Jessen's. Every time I visit Babylon I stop in. They are a bit pricey on some items, specially the drinks, mind you; but again your paying for quality in food, they need to make up the cost somewhere. I recommend stopping in. Great place for sandwiches. Usually stop off to pick up some heroes when I'm heading out to the beach. The German potato salad is great for the beach too ...why? no mayo! Breakfast is good too. Been coming here since I first moved to Babylon 12 years ago. Business has slowed with the economy but this place is still popular. How can you tell it's slower? The line used to start at the front door to order ... it was always packed! This is an old school deli that piles the cold cuts on their sandwiches. And they make hot & cold food platters so you can grab a real meal on the go. They started delivery service to the local boat docks & marinas, too. The food here is overpriced and the owner is rude. If you don't want to pay for a $10 sandwich don't come here. And their texting to order ahead of time doesn't work. Often it isn't ready anyway. Ordered my Super Bowl platter from this deli and I was wayyyyyy more satisfied than I expected. They offered a few different party options at different prices which made ordering very simple. From the moment I picked it up I had a good feeling, the staff was very friendly and insisted on helping me with my packages to the car. The hero was loaded all pre cut and every single piece had tooth pick to keep it together. They even set me up with all of the condiments without having to ask for them!!! The wings were outstanding and everyone who had them raved about them. Overall I feel that I get even more than I paid for which is a great feeling they even thru in bags of chips. A West Babylon staple. Been coming here for years. Rarely have I ever had an issue and if so they've been corrected. I suggest adding a hash-brown onto any breakfast sandwich you order. For lunch, grab a chicken cutlet supreme, or an Andy Special. Panini's are all pretty solid choices (bourbon lovers) I tend to stay away from the wraps as they can be pretty soggy. Half and half Iced tea is also excellent. (They actually clean their machines) read more

If there is no line you are in business, the problem with that is there is always a line, either people in the store or phone and email orders. It takes way to long to get two sandwiches and two sodas, 28 mins to be exact. Then when you get home the order is all wrong. I place an order for delivery because I had surgery and cant drive. I called twice and was told first it was on the counter and hadn't gone out and second time that it went out and would be here. I called back after that 20 minutes later to cancel the order because it still wasnt her. I received a call back where I was told they wont deliver the food after stating that the driver was pound on the door but we are both home and the dogs didnt bark. they called me pain in the ass and wouldnt refund my money. I am not from the area so while running around I was in the mood for deli food. I search on yelp and found this place. Since it had a good amount of decent reviews. I decided to try it out. MISTAKE!!! I enter and there is only one person ahead of my boyfriend and I. ( A dad and two kids) We wait for about 5 minutes. In the mean time no one acknowledges us. First off I'd like to say I've been coming here since I was a kid. Always had good things to say but not so much in the recent years. This review is based off my last two visits. About a 2 months ago I walked in the deli at 4pm, they close around 6pm. It was empty but 3 people behind the counters in the front. They all walked passed me without acknowledging me, that ticked me off. I finally spoke up when another customer walked in and nothing. After 5mins I finally rudely said can someone help me. After all that I went to order heros and he said they had no rolls or heros rolls. That left me sour and I didn't return until today. My sister wanted chopped salads, really only place that does them. We called and placed our orders because she has a newborn and didn't want to wait in line. We get there 15 mins later and I wait up front, again nobody acknowledge me for 5 mins. Even ran the bell. They never even made the salads that I placed ahead of time. And it took 10mins to make them. So this added so much more time, beats the purpose of trying to make it quick and convenient. So at this point I'm done with this deli. Sadly because I've been coming since a kid but things have changed. read more
