Someone at Jester's REALLY loves National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Photo ops, a cardboard cutout of Clark Griswold, and a Christmas tree complete with a squirrel. I've never been here before, but I can tell it's a night-and-day transformation. But enough about that, you're here to hear about the food. Jester's does not disappoint. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, my brother had the brisket, and his wife a salad. Everything came out hot, fresh and fast. Everything was delicious. My sandwich had a nice blend of smoky and tangy flavors, and the fries were on point. My sister-in-law's salad looked scrumptious. I'll order one of those in case I ever want something lighter. The only downside was my brother's old fashioned. It was the wrong color, so you know it wasn't going to taste right. Maybe the regular bartender was off. Either way, skip the drinks and enjoy the food and atmosphere. read more

I'm a regular here and this is definitely a great place to eat. The food is very good. I've eaten quite a few things from their menu at this point and I haven't found a dud yet. I'm a huge fan of their sloppy joes, pierogies, and BBQ. Everything here is very delicious, consistent, and in great portions. Heck, even the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl is very good! They have very good happy hour specials too. Their appetizers are so good and worth the special 100%. One thing I really like is that they are open a little later than most places. This area seems to have an huge problem with restaurants closing super early (maybe everyone in this area is a grandma). So it is nice to have a place that is open until 10PM. That said, one thing I wasn't a fan of is that we felt rushed during our latest visit. It was 9:30 and we were at the tail end of the meal, there wasn't a need to rush. Our server that time could've been a little more attentive too. But that was just a one off day that doesn't sour the overall experience I've had with this place. The pricing here is pretty amazing as well, especially with the area. So in conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Jesters. It's a great place to eat and hang out. The front of house staff could use a little work but back of house knocks it out of the park every time with the food. The food is consistently good and is very affordable. read more

Went in with low expectations, having heard mixed reviews, but definitely think we will be back at some point. Gave the BBQ rib sandwich a try, which was enjoyable. I dont know that the slaw on it added anything, but their fries were definitely worth ordering. Thick cut and crispy on the outside. The brisket mac and cheese was also really good. The service was great. We went shortly after they opened for lunch and were seated immediately. Our server was extremely attentive and pleasant. So recently they are allowing dogs in the restaurant. They say only service dogs. The two I saw were not service dogs. We have had dogs (pet and service) for over 30 years. You're setting the bar pretty low when you take over a legacy establishment and immediately tag it with the dive bar moniker. When it was Rio Station, I never set foot in the place. It had a reputation for having live music, as the owner was a guitar player, but I can't say that I ever heard anything about it, neither good nor bad. The people who own The Surfing Pig in North Wildwood bought it supposedly with the intention of knocking it down and starting over. I guess they decided to renovate it instead, and keep a dive bar edge to it. From the outside, it certainly looks like a place where you might get shot, but inside is fresh and new. I don't know what it looked like before so couldn't really tell what they did or didn't change. It's got a sort of industrial garage feel. The menu is your usual assortment of burgers, fries, cheesesteaks, wings, and tacos. They also have a limited selection of BBQ and Sloppy Joe's. The beer list is minimal with nothing suprising or challenging. Your usual domestic bar choices. The wine list was just one degree up from telling you what color it was and everything was the same price. I took a gamble on a glass of Chardonnay and was shocked when it arrived in a full sized wine glass with a generous pour. It wasn't bad. This was a work lunch, so I was a little preoccupied with the meeting and my lunch order was minimal. I really need to return and try a few more things and take some pictures. We both ordered the chicken cheesesteak because I had noticed they were advertising Liscio's rolls. Anyone who knows anything about cheesesteaks will tell you that it's almost all about the roll. After that, they can still screw it up by how they prepare it, but if you don't start with good bread, you've got nothing. Liscio's is good bread. My lunch companion ordered his with lettuce, tomato, and onion, and I got mine buffalo style with a side of blue cheese dressing. I can't speak for my associate, but mine was excellent. The roll was soft, steamy, and chewy, just like it should be, and the ratio of meat to bread was perfect. I hate it when they're so overstuffed you can't eat them. It reminded me a lot of PJ Whelihan's Wicked Chicken Cheesesteak, which I think is phenomenal. As a straight up restaurant, I'd probably give it two stars, but as a dive bar, it gets the full five. I'm ready to go back and try the BBQ, burgers, and fries. I hate going to Rio Grande, but it's definitely worth a special trip for me. I'll be back. read more

She never came back to the table. We saw her on the other side of the restaurant. Our drinks were empty from the time our food came out. She finally came back to the table to clear the dishes and asked if there was anything else we asked for more drinks. Which took her another 10 minutes for two drinks. Great evening, it's definitely a dive bar. the service was okay but very overworked. It was a friday night at 6:30 when we arrived and it became very crowded and loud. There was a local band getting re play, which turned to be very good. I ordered BBQ ribs, that came out COLD. when I returned them I was told a fresh plate was Coming right out. This is my 5th time coming, just because of the location.. I wasn't impressed yet again.. Let's break down how it went. First as a disclaimer it's never the server/bartenders fault, I try to understand where they are coming from especially when it's a newer spot. But I'm a firm woman when it comes to being fair. The bartender was in the weeds and she really did try. Did she have a great outlook, no. But I get it it's busy when your by yourself. But we were sitting on the dining room side and I kept hearing a server complaining. On the dining room floor and I could tell something was off. But I was distracted by the game. But for a loud bar and a lot going on I get it but this server was complaining ... complaining ... complaining... yikes. Way to kill a buzz... I told my husband let's get outta here & go to Dogtooth. Our lunch was pretty much ruined by the bad vibes. Food was okay. Cheap & fast. Just think management should really get on there servers and bartenders and focus on guests. I was looking forward to visiting Jester's after learning that it was decorated a la Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation movie. The decor did not disappoint, especially with the actual RV right in front of the restaurant. I loved the fun holiday cocktails. I ordered the Christmas Cookie Martini, which seemed to be a favorite of the servers and staff! If you have a sweet tooth, give this one a try. Debbie, our server, was incredibly attentive and a rockstar. I do have mixed feelings on the menu and food. While they have a wide variety of options, ranging from sloppy joes and tacos to sandwiches and bar bites, everything is a la Carte. Coming from NYC, I definitely raised an eyebrow, that adding lettuce, tomato, or an onion to a burger would be $1 for each, and then additional charges if you want any more toppings or even a side of fries, chips, or veggies. I was really looking forward to trying the pierogies. They were delicious, but I had imagined they would be filled with the different offerings (ex: ham and cheddar, bacon and sour cream). I definitely was surprised that the sour cream that came with mine was not even in a small bowl, but rather in a cup you would get with takeout. This is clearly a popular spot already, with many patrons enjoying lunch and drinks mid-week. I do want to give this another try to sample more of their fun cocktails and food, but hope they take into account some of the feedback about pricing. read more

No star rating! Food decent but service experience was HORRIBLE. Over half an hour to get waited on, over an hour to get our food, and another 25 minutes to get the check. Waiter barked at us when we inquired about our order, and blew his tip. Manager promised discount off bill, but that never happened. Rude and inefficient service. A must to avoid. It was our first time here and we enjoyed it. It was so nice to see one of our favorite people behind the bar, Brandy. She provided wonderful service and made me a very tasty milk chocolate martini. The food was good; we ordered cornbread, cucumber salad, burnt ends and classic perogies. It was all good but my favorite was the cucumber salad, creamy style and flavored nicely.
