As a regular at Honky Tonk, I would like to address the review/comment from Rosanna from California and share what personally witnessed Wednesday night August 12, 2026. There are many of us who are regulars and genuinely love line dancing. We don't just dance in Wildwood-we travel to several other cities and states to dance, and we have a great time wherever we go. One thing I have consistently found in the line dancing community is that dancers are courteous and respectful of one another, regardless of skill level. We welcome beginners and are usually more than happy to help newcomers learn. We also support Honky Tonk because we enjoy being there. The staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is great, and while the dance floor itself may not be our favorite, we love Ashley, our DJ, and happily show up to support her as well. I watched Wednesday night's incident unfold from beginning to end, and what I witnessed was very different from what has been portrayed. There were several small children on the dance floor, directly in the line of dance. The adults dancing were doing their best to avoid running into them. At one point, I watched a couple of women repeatedly move away from the children to avoid a collision. Meanwhile, the children's mom appeared to find the situation funny and stood nearby laughing rather than moving the children to a safer area. When the song ended, I saw one of the dancers leave the floor, and the children's mother approached her. I moved closer and was able to hear their conversation. The dancer politely explained that the children needed to stay farther back and out of the dancers' path because she was concerned someone might accidentally run into them and hurt them. The mother's response was confrontational. She asked, "how far do you want them to go back?" And then commented about the woman being an advanced dancer. The dancer again explained that she simply did not want to accidentally collide with one of the children and have someone get hurt. The mother then accused the dancer of being rude. From what I personally witnessed,the dancer had not been rude. The situation escalated when the mother moved into the dancer's personal space and raised her hand towards her. From where I was standing, which was quite close, I saw the dancer push/slap the woman's hand away in response. I know this dancer from attending Honky Tonk regularly. I have never known her to cause problems. In my experience, she is a kind person, and I enjoy being around her. Line dancing is supposed to be fun, and beginners should absolutely feel welcome on the dance floor. But there is also a difference between beginners learning a dance vs very young children running and jumping around in the dancers' path. With dancers moving forward, backwards, sideways, turning, and sometimes unable to see directly behind them, that creates a legitimate safety concern for everyone-especially children. Parents also have the responsibility to supervise young children and keep them out of the direct path of an organized line dance. Expecting an entire dance floor of adults to maneuver around children who are running and jumping through the line of dance is neither reasonable nor safe. I was there. I watched the interaction closely, and I wanted to share what I personally witnessed because there are two sides to every story. It was an unfortunate and embarrassing situation that could have been avoided with a little courtesy, supervision, and respect for everyone using the dance floor. On another note, I believe Honky Tonk management needs to do a better job of handling situations like this quickly, rather than allowing the line dancers to be blamed or penalized when problems arise. If Wednesday nights from 7-11 are designated for line dancing, then management, should make sure the dance floor is being used safely and appropriately. That includes stepping in when people-whether adults or children-are repeatedly standing, running, or dancing in the path of the line dancers and creating an unsafe situation. The regular dancers should not be expected to spend the entire night dodging people who are intentionally interfering with the line of dance. Management needs to recognize when a situation is escalating and address it before it turns not a confrontation between customers. We support Honky Tonk (for now), its staff and Wednesday line-dancing nights, which is exactly why I think this needs to be said. A designated line-dancing night should have reasonable expectations for dance-floor etiquette and safety, and management should be willing to enforce them consistently. That protects the dancers, the children, other customers, and ultimately the establishment itself. If the regular line-dancing community begins to feel that Honky Tonk does not support us or provide a safe and respectful environment for Wednesday night line-dancing, many of us will reconsider whether we continue coming. read more

Stopped by Honky Tonk in Wildwood and had a good experience. The bar food was surprisingly good everything came out hot, fresh, and tasted great. Fun country atmosphere, good music, and a cool spot to hang out while you're on the boardwalk. Definitely worth stopping in for some food and drinks! read more

We had a nice time at the Honky Tonk. I absolutely loved how festive they decorated everything. The happy hour specials were great from 4-6. They also had some arcade games which, while a little expensive, were fun. We tried the cheese curds and nachos which were delicious. They had a nice selection of craft beer as well. The service was pretty good overall. Later they had some live dancing which was fun, but not catered to beginners. Some very serious seniors were cutting it up on the dance floor. read more

You and ur friends were laughing at her as she struggled to dance a high energy moving dance with kicks while surrounded by ur mob of toddlers. What parent in their responsible right mind would allow their child to be put in harms way like that wow such entitlement. U tried to put ur finger in her face and she smacked ur hand away. She has never been a problem patron never. When u have to tell a parent to contain their children because it's dangerous YOU are the problem KAREN. Ur r right u can't fix stupid . Did we interrupt Mommy and her friends drinking u all drinks in ur hands Go back to California !!! The place is advertised for line dancing on Weds it doesn't say line dancing for children. And the money u spent , there are 30 to 120 of us regulars who come week after week. I would like Honky Tonk to see my receipts week after week 2-3 times per week as well as all of their regular patrons for the last three years we r just as important as u. And if Honky Tonk disagrees then we don't need to be there . The bottom line It wasn't safe is was a circus !!! And management needs to support the base and set safe boundaries for everyone. Came here with some friends for the first time 1 night, I'm by no means a country music person but a night out is a night out. From the outside it looked pretty nice, clean and inviting. The inside was the same nice openness with a bar and tables all over with a small stage. We sat down ordered some beers and some food and I was enjoying it for the most part then, the live band came up and that's where my enjoyment ended. The band they had was terrible, they had a really fake country accent and just tried to hard to be something they weren't and the band was way off sync with the singer or the singer was off sync with the band either way it wasn't matching up. To top that off they were so loud you couldn't talk to the people at your table and the waitress couldn't hear anything we wanted with out getting right in your face, we weren't very close to the stage and it just made the entire night a literal headache. There was also a lot of kids running around, I get that it's a shore area but it was just weird to see so many kids in a bar that is clearly intended for an adult audience. I later found out the back of the building is connected to the boardwalk mall and there's an arcade in the back, not a good mix . The food was whatever, the staff was friendly but an odd mix of kids in a bar and music that was so loud I wanted to walk out 5 mins into it made for an unfulfilling evening. read more

The Good: newer place with a good country vibe. Big open dance floor and stage. Bar is big as well. Drinks were fine but we weren't super adventurous mainly beers. The bad: The food is to be avoided unless you are super drunk and just need some energy. The wings are absolutely to be avoided even if you're starving to death. They were mainly bread badly fried. the fried pickles were fine. The nachos were OK, but let's be honest. If you can't serve a decent set of nachos you probably shouldn't be in business. read more

Beautiful new venue. Open air on one corner to the street, like Nashville. Two bars for seating, one large bar at the front of the building, smaller one in the right rear. A few food hall type long tables and several bar height tables, barrel tables and lower tables for seating. There's a VIP seating area roped off. Nicely done murals on the wall give homage to Nashville murals. Nightly Live music. Line dance classes once a week. Bbq menu of bar food, unique well drinks, and plenty of beer options. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often! We ordered turkey burnt ends. They were delicious! Cheese curds were good, too. The nacho tray was huge!! Currently there are two restrooms- one female, one male. Creates a bit of a line. Restrooms could have been gender neutral to make better use. Entered for dinner with family. Asked for a table for 5. Guy pointed at a 4 top, then said "you can find an extra chair at another table." Sat down and waited 10mins for a server. She came back and threw the menus down and kept walking by the table. Nothing said. 5 mins later she came back for drinks, waited another 5 to get drinks and she walked away again. No app order, no dinner order taken. She came back after 10 mins and we ordered. Food came out in a reasonable time. Mostly good food except for the brisket sandwich. Overcooked and tough. Was really looking forward to it. PHL17 did a bit at the beginning of the season about how good the food was. I even brought down my cowboy boots just for this experience. So my husband and I were expecting to enjoy a nice dinner, view the line dancing while we ate, then I could join in later. All while having some adult beverages and listening to country music. Our experience was so disappointing on so many levels. The food was barely edible. The nacho appetizers (which came after the main course) had stale chips, barely visible queso with brisket topping that tasted a bit "off". My fish and chips were three small pieces which were frozen and not fully cooked. My husband got the meat platter with the same "off" brisket and ribs doused in terrible barbecue sauce. When our waitress asked us for if we wanted to go boxes for our barely eaten food we said - no thank you it was terrible. Should we have called over a manager? Yes, but I was so angry by that point I was afraid I would not be able to be polite. Service was OK. Other than the fact that we were sitting waiting for 15 minutes before anyone came to serve us. We were seated at a table on the far side of the restaurant where we could not see the dance floor. There is very limited seating where patrons can see the dance floor, which is all the way on the opposite side of the restaurant against the wall. And we were surrounded by large strollers and kids. Lots and lots of them. Tired and hungry and cranky. At 8:00. In a "saloon". In the 90 minutes we were there, the DJ played only one country song. In a place that advertises as the First and Only Country Music Honky Tonk Bar. Other little annoying stuff. $5 cover charge. No full hours on either Google maps or their website or after searching Facebook. No phone number. $166 NOT well spent ($121 food plus 4 beers, $25 tip not her fault, $10 cover and $10 parking). Maybe off-season I MIGHT try again. But definitely I am not ever eating there again. Was I expecting Nashville? 5 star cuisine? Of course not. It is a bar! In Wildwood! By the boardwalk! I want to say, this has to be the worst in WW. You charge cover charge, and do not have the room to seat people. 48 minute wait to be seated, your girl at the door had no sense of urgency, 24 minute wait to get served, my husband had to walk to the bar to get me and my friends drinks, then almost an hour to track the girl down to pay. Waste of my vacation time. It's sad because every time we go on vacation to a different state I look for a country bar. This has great reviews and I can't see how. I am not a Karen nor am I hard to please. I will give it a benefit of the doubt that you're new and still ironing out the wrinkles. But please fix these issues. To say this is a tourist trap would be a compliment. Stay with me.. So supposedly to take a advantage of the cowboy niche this place is all country so you'll need to pay a $5 cover charge just to get in for "live music" thats in addition to what they'll get you for to eat and drink. Well last Friday night that live music was supposed to be 8-10 but after 45 mins the "music" took and 45 min break resulting in a net "live music of maybe an hour. We paid cash at the bar and were charged a 3% convenience fee for the pleasure of having 2 beers and 1 glass of wine. When we asked, the bartender couldn't explain the fee and just shrugged and said "I don't know why we charge it". The place was practically empty on a Friday night and now we know why. Definitely will not be back. Bartenders were fine. Drink prices were okay. Food prices are insane. Certainly would never eat here. Don't bother with this place! The first time I went was back in May when they first opened and it was really busy but the service was ok. I decided to try it again on 10/13/24 and I couldn't have been more disappointed! My wife and I sat at the bar and watched 2 unenthusiastic bartenders struggling to keep up with a half full bar during the "off season" in Wildwood. Neither one of them said "we'll be right with you" or even acknowledged us. I watched another couple get up and walk out after the same treatment. We waited about 15 minutes and then also walked out. The place stinks! Piss poor customer service! This place won't be around much longer or hopefully someone that knows how to run a bar/restaurant will buy it and do it the right way!
