Ron "The Machine Gun" Jhun and his wife Kim, teach most of the classes, but if they are not around there are experienced fighters like Niko Vitale, Harris Sarmiento, or Russell Doane, just to name a few, that can pitch in to teach a class. What gives this gym a 5 star rating is not only the talent, but the ohana that is so much a part of this place. The whole Jhun family trains there and when you join the gym they take you under their wing too. They will train you hard, but will also watch out for your safety. Although these fighters can knock my head off, they have the self control to avoid sending me to the hospital (thank God!) Injuries are part of this sport, but there are surprisingly few at 808FF. This is in large part due to the guidance of the Jhun's, AND the control of the fighters. Parking is on the street. There are no signs, so use your GPS and look for a yellow brick 2 story warehouse-like building with a garage on the first floor and a driveway going to the 2nd floor (don't drive up the driveway - park on the street!). The gym is above the garage on the end. Mondays and Wednesdays Boxing/kickboxing and Tuesdays and Thursdays Grappling/Pankration. Fridays is all the above. (I think? - Haven't been to the Friday class in months) Adult classes start at 6pm. Advanced classes start at 7pm, Keiki classes are at 5pm

Each had its own personality and vibe, but Alaka'i CrossFit had a different energy that kept me coming back for more. The size of the gym itself is huge, and includes three bathrooms and two showers. The equipments are well maintained, and the members do a great job of cleaning up after themselves. The programming is awesome! I've had a few friends try out Alaka'i CrossFit, and they all loved the programming and the coaching. The coaches here are very helpful and motivating. We actually get coached. But back to what made me call this place my home-box... the energy is hype! The members here are so inviting and encouraging. They made me feel welcomed from day one. I was a drop in that became a member, who then made friends, and now im a part of this Ohana... I love this place!

I originally signed up for a membership with Anytime Fitness at Ka'ka'ako, but due to me being more…read moreactive at the Kapolei location, they had automatically transferred my 'home' location me to this one. I was on a contract for 2 years with them, and I was paying about $60 a month. I had called them on the phone asking to pause my membership for two months because I will not be on island. The male worker who answered was VERY rude saying 'Why? What's the reason? Is there not an anytime fitness located to where you are going?' I told him that i was going on vacation, and I would prefer to save my money and use it on my trip. And he asked me where I was going in a condescending manner. Keep in mind, I had already surpassed my 2 year contract. On the other hand, out of all the locations on island, this place is the most run down of them all. The equipment is rusty and teared up. And, they take forever to fix broken machines. Let alone there are no a lot of equipment variety for the amount of people who work out there. Lastly, some of the workers have major attitudes. It's really sad. The only good thing about this place was the convenience of going when I wanted to go. My advice is to look for another gym. It ain't worth it!

Cons - it needs a deep cleaning | some areas of carpet needs repair or be replaced | the small refrigerator rarely has the free water bottle as advertised but they will provide RedBull on occasion | the water fountain / dispenser for sure needs to be cleaned | they need more than 1 stair master | Bottom line, I really like this Anytime Fitness location and I think the staff does the best they can in most areas. Ownership should dig deep and make a few repairs starting with carpet that is tapped down near stretching area and the press machines.

My kiddo and his cousins enjoyed the pool area and they had a blast. I took off 2 stars because of how strict they were on time and what their policy is for events/parties. You're only allowed to stay the 3 hours. I asked if it was possible for us to stay the whole day, if we moved to a different area and they said no. The only way for you to stay the whole day was to purchase a day pass for an additional $20+ per person. As if the $500 we paid to have a party there wasnt enough. So ridiculous. Plus the pizza we ordered through them wasnt the greatest too. $32 for 16 slices of pizzas and it tasted salty to me. The amount they charge for food is actually pricey too.
