In times past they were rude and not very welcoming. I have a lot of concerns for LAX during the olympics. I don't think that they're ready, I don't know if they ever will be. Then I ordered a Lyft and I had to wait 15 minutes for a bus to come, it was jam-packed and then I had to go to another lot to get the car. I assume they are doing this to decrease the traffic in the terminals, which I think is a good idea, in theory. They need more buses.

You're practically walking half the airport from security back to the gates once you get through and several of the stores aren't available due to the construction so don't expect a lot of amenities on the other side once you enter. If you're in any of the 52 gates other than A or B, know that you need to get to the 52 gate and then you'll have to chat with a gate agent, scan your boarding pass, then take another bus to your gate. Thats how big LAX is. You need to jump on another 5 minute shuttle ride to get to your gate. The 52 gates aren't world class. It's pretty old. Probably just neglected since most of the flights here are regional / short distance flights. There's flights to Seattle, Bay Area, etc from here. Overall verdict - you could certainly do worse. But for how big it is, I think it's a pretty well oiled machine. And that in of itself earns a 3 star from me.

Train would make two stops before you are taken to T3-C, where the baggage claims were (need to follow the broadcast instructions closely). Everything else is a breeze. Signs and labels everywhere directing you out. It is a well planned out airport but some facilities are getting dated over the years.

There is a people mover to connect ground side and domestic gates in concourse C with domestic concourse D and international concourse E. The new T3 also has an airport express train station, just like T2 (with adjacent T1) that takes you straight downtown for only 30RMB without the hassle of having your car or bus stuck in rush hour traffic. Immigration and security have long lines and no premium lanes, as in this country all people are equal. Except, if you have an APEC card, you get to bypass in a special lane. Customs is semi-automated and uses IR cameras as is common in other airports here as well. This also serves as a health check to identify passengers that have infections or flu symptoms. It's hard to find people that speak English and to pay electronically with non-domestic systems. Even the Starbucks in the terminal doesn't take ApplePay. Overall a nice airport but lots of room for improvement when it comes to customer service and friendliness.

They do not have the best selection of shops; although, it has gotten better over the years- still no competition over Oakland International Airport nor SFO, but it is all lit up all night and turnt up. I like that. I always take flights at the very last minute possible and I hate planning if someone else does the planning so, I'll sabotage you if you try to make me be somewhere at a certain time. I always end up taking the last possible flight. Even if my whole family or friends are on the same flight, but different than me. I've been known to switch airlines at the airport. So, depending on how long until my flight, I shop, so I prefer a long wait time. I am not sabotagable (I am able to make up words, yes) because I mastered the art of not giving a PHUCK when I was in my crib. When you land in Minnesota or Atlanta or anywhere late, it's dark and no one is around. The lights are off even if people continue to fly in and out. That sucks because it ruins the fun mood and when the fun times end, so does my being present.

They act like it is there first time they ever traveled and you know they know better, unfortunately, there will always be dodo birds so get your dodo, bird repellent, spray, and take care of them. AUTOMATED PEOPLE MOVER There should be an elevated electric train called the automated people mover (APM) linking light rail, terminals, and parking and rental cars for use this year, pending successful testing. Hope to see this soon, as it's very much needed to alleviate traffic on roads.
