Quaint little restaurant inside Paisano Hotel, very cute. We stopped here because there was literally nothing else open (Marfa seems to shut down by 3pm). Service was slightly slow, but was worth the wait to get a decent hot meal. We shared a burger and asked for medium well and came out well done. The Parmesan fries that came with it were very interesting. They were soggy, but still tasted uncooked. read more

Wonderful experience as my wife and I celebrated our 34th anniversary. Delicious tomato basil soup as an appetizer. We split the 12oz ribeye that was cooked perfectly. For a restaurant/bar that mostly caters to tourists, I would NOT recommend either dining nor stopping by the bar for a cocktail at Jett's Grill. We arrived at the restaurant an hour before our dinner reservations and decided to sit in the courtyard at one of the tables and have a cocktail before dinner. Two waitresses passed by us delivering meals and drinks to other customers, but totally ignored us. So, we went inside the bar and sat at one of the tables. The table next to us was delivered a set of drinks, while we were never acknowledged. So, we returned to the courtyard and again sat at a table. As one of the waitresses passed by us, I asked "what do I need to do to order a drink." She responded "you need to go inside and order the drink." "Then you would bring it to us," I asked. Her reply was "no, I don't deliver drinks." I said, "but I just saw you deliver some to the next table." She then walked off. About that time our local friend arrived for our dinner reservation and was greeted by the hostess who brought us menus and silverware. We then ordered cocktails followed by dinner. So, it seems that Jett's Grill gives special attention to its regulars, but treats visitors with disrespect. read more

We had a reservation and other folks were accommodated without one. No biggie that's cool. Sadly however we waited 1 hour for a prime rib and a pork chop that never came as the folks without reservation got top notch service and speedy expediting for burgers. We called for a manager and the waitress went to another table and never called one. We left and went to LaVenture and recieved excellent food and brew with no presumptuous worthless reservation. We came here twice during our stay in Marfa due to the limited hours other establishments offered regarding COVID and Marfa's nature regarding wonky business hours in general. A very reliable spot when you want a great dinner and stellar cocktails! The patio is first come first serve, if you want a spot get there right when they open! If not, the dining room also takes reservations. We were on top of making accommodations ahead of time during our stay and had no issues. Definitely will be coming back! read more

We arrived in Marfa around 2pm and this was the only place opened for lunch. The menu is minimal for "happy hour" from 2-5. My husband had the pulled pork sliders and I opted for the turkey club. We had the option of sitting at the bar or the patio, and even though it was 69 degrees outside, it was still comfortable. Lovely patio and lovely servers. Shockingly bad food. It won't make you sick but it is a mediocre product. The location is great, attached to a very nice historic hotel. One is urged to book in advance which I did. Why bother? The closest thing I can compare the Caesar salad to is one at a Denny's. No anchovies, stale croutons probably out of a box. Zero taste. The brownie and ice cream seemed a safe choice for dessert but the brownie could only go down with the ice cream and when that ran out the remainder was left on the plate. Never in my life have I left a brownie uneaten. I hope you get the picture. Spare yourself. read more

Everything was just ok, not great. The service was diffident....efficient but not friendly or particularly helpful. The food was fine: not inspired or soulful or even interesting. The room is sort of soul-less looking. I had more fun, honestly, at the little Mexican dive in Fort Davis, Cueva de Leon, because at least there they were glad to see us. We were very happy to visit the Paisano hotel and Jett's Grill. The hotel has a lovely patio and bar and the shops are very nice. We had a HUGE hamburger and a swell pistachio fried steak with jalapeño gravy, a southwest Caesar salad and a Jett's wedge salad. The restaurant was lovely with crisp linens and a welcoming bar. We were too stuffed for dessert and are already trying to think of a reason to return! We will certainly stay at this hotel next time. read more

The whole town ofMarfa has been great, but this little cafe managed to have the most unaccommodating wait staff on 6/28 when they opened at 5pm. All the waitress could tell us was that our party couldn't be in her cafe or sit in the seats outside. She could only tell us what not to do after we spent well over $150 for our meal. We've been to plenty of amazing places during this pandemic, but trust me when I say this isn't one of them. The food is great, but definitely not worth interacting with the staff to ruin your evening. I recommend literally anywhere else to keep your awesome trip on course. read more

It was a beautiful cool Marfa afternoon and we weren't super hungry but thought we'd split a little something for dinner on a patio. Jett's seemed like the perfect place. Jett's is located in the Paisano Hotel so it's fun to walk through their gorgeous lobby to get to the restaurant. We asked for patio seating and were immediately sat. We first perused the yummy cocktail menu and ordered our drinks. I'm a sucker for anything spicy and cucumbery. I don't remember the name but it was tasty!! The hubby ordered a sidecar and he enjoyed it very much. We split the Caesar salad and a burger. The salad was a solid Caesar with enough dressing and good croutons. The burger was equally tasty and cooked exactly to order. I also appreciated them splitting everything and placing on separate plates for us. read more

i ordered the chicken stuffed portobello mushroom - did not taste very good at all. was topped with cheese that hardened and was chewy. there was barely any chicken in the mushroom, and there was honestly barely any food on my plate. Adorable European style patio dining if you can get a seat outside! The drinks were pretty good; the prickly pear margarita was tasty, but the classic marg was not to play with! I will say there isn't much skimping on the alcohol in this town... but that's a good thing right!? I actually had the crab cakes that came with a spinach type salad bed. There could have been a bit more dressing, but I could have easily fixed that by just asking for more. And, yes I said Crab cakes, in the dessert, but they weren't bad at all. The beau ordered the Fried steak and it was yummy! I think the server mentioned that it was featured on the food channel the week before we visited, I guess you can say that's what they're known for. Delicious vegan options!! Went to Jett's Grill for drinks and snacks and were not disappointed. Jason, the bartender, made excellent drinks and provided top notch service! We had the dip trio and the fried artichoke hearts (hold the ranch dip). The fried artichoke hearts were SO GOOD!! They were "chicken fried" style and so flavorful, you don't need the dipping sauce. I feel it's unfair to review any place in Marfa because there are so few places to dine and by the time you get your food you're so famished there's no way it could be displeasing. We actually got seated 2 hours prior to what we were told here. Disregard that previous statement. Every time we called to make reservations here they gave us a 2 hour wait time for a table but said we could wait for a seat at the bar if we wanted. Upon hearing that in person the first night we dined, we pleasantly thanked the waitress who took our name down. Apparently most people are jerks to her because she came back and said we were nice people and she sat us down immediately. Pleased to find my favorite scotch available (a rarity) I enjoyed a Laphroaig and ordered the pistachio fried steak with green beans and potatoes. Not at all expecting an actual fried steak (duh) I realized the "pistachio" in the name through me off. Not a fan of fried steak, in this a case a sirloin, my favorite cut, sadly deep fried, the meal was still quite enjoyable. Nestled inside stunning Hotel Paisano the presentation was stunning and the staff nailed it on many levels. We loved it so much we went back after only staying two nights in Marfa. The staff recognized us upon returning and though they couldn't get us a table we were promptly seated at the bar - after hearing the couple in front of us told of a two hour wait, they scoffed at the waitress and stormed out - I then said out loud, "How rude!" in my best Stephanie Tanner voice. Realizing Jett's had my second favorite bottle of scotch (another rarity) I enjoyed a Lagavulin with a pistachio fired chile relleno. Best meal I think I have ever had on a vacation. read more

We had drinks at the bar, dinner, and breakfast. There are limited options in Marfa... That's another story. The poblano pepper entree was 5 stars for me. The texture is amazing: crunchy, not at all soggy. The ribeye was good. Dinner service was great. I enjoyed breakfast burritos as well, but my guy gives it an "ok". There are limited options at breakfast. But it was fresh. However, we saw the bartender dip glasses into a bright blue cleaning solution, whip off some excess moisture, and pour drinks directly into them. We could taste it in the drink. I know we should have said something and that this probably happens all the time in bars. There were only 2 other patrons, it's not like she was too busy to rinse. Ew. read more

Even though the bar was empty, the service was "incidental". Most of the staff spent more time talking to each other than the guests. And strongly suggest watching bartender when pouring your drink. HONEST REVIEW! When I say honest I mean honest because this is the third or fourth review I've ever written. Jason needs a raise or needs to run the place because he far exceeds anything this restaurant has to offer! He was the best part of the night being the greeter, host, bartender, server, and a som when they didn't have the wine we ordered (for the manager reading this, a som is referring to a Sommelier who is a trained and knowledgeable wine professional). Sureeeee it's Covid and we need to have empathy and patience but COME ON, you are at 50% with six servers saying you are understaffed and overwhelmed at a restaurant with a max capacity of 100 people pre Covid! We waited 2 hours to be seated and another hour to get our food. Drinks were great and the atmosphere was delightful for this beautiful small town but calling your chicken fried steak the best in west Texas is like calling Biden a die hard republican! I'm sure a manager or owner will come on here and say something to make you feel like my review means nothing but hear this......I'm a die hard foodie and someone who has lived in NYC and Los Angles for over 15 years tasting some of the best foods restaurants have to offer. Hanna E. is right -- the service sucks. Well, let me be more specific. The dude with the beard is super slow; and while a nice guy, he lacks the skill set required of a good waiter. The shorter young lady with dark hair is faster and better, but she wasn't our server. The food is OK, and they have some OK beer on tap. Cool architecture and ambiance. Just need to find some better staff. Small town = small waitstaff talent pool I guess. That bearded dude wouldn't last 30 seconds in a big city. Also, chef forgot to salt the chicken fried steak. Calamari was cold; probably because dude didn't bring it out when it was ready. Also, beard dude dropped a wine bottle right next to our table and sent glass and wine flying everywhere. True story. If presentation was the end of a review, this place would receive five stars. But we don't fill our tummies by looking at our food. I ordered the Fiesta chicken and it was basically a rubber chicken dinner, temperature and taste. Chicken and asparagus were bland. Potatoes were creamy and very good. Daughter's campeche shrimp looked incredible but just had no spunk. Shrimp were large and juicy but we alll know the sauce is the boss with this dish...but the boss failed to show. I love this grill/bar set in the old El Paisano Hotel. My first pit stop when I arrive in Marfa, where the drinks are cold and the food satiates your soul. You never know whom you may run into or where they're from, not loud, not dim nor dank, no snootiness, just the place to sit and have a pop, make a friend and rest those weary traveled bones. Avoid this place. It will suck all the charm out of your trip to Marfa. We weren't expecting much from this restaurant but it failed to meet even our lowest expectations. The pork chop came out cold and tasted funky, mashed potatoes were cold too. The Texas poutine also came out cold and was missing the bacon. We overheard the neighboring table complaining that their chicken fried steak had been served cold. Our server was young and very sweet but very green and could have used some guidance, especially on pouring water from the pitcher and not spilling a huge puddle on the table and then just laughing nervously and walking away. I felt bad for her... this place needs new management. The hotel itself is such a cool historic gem, and the rest of the town seems to take food service seriously, but eating here was like we entered the twilight zone. Should have been a red flag that when we entered the dining hall at 4:59 for our 5pm reservation (which the website suggested we make) there was a huge sign that said "dining hall closed". They took it down after they sat us. Only a few other people trickled in as we ate, I doubt those other reservations were actually full. We only went at 5 because that is all they said they had. Overall this place was a huge let down for our last meal in Marfa. Seems like someone could do something really cool at the Paisano instead of serving Sysco quality food at fancy restaurant prices. read more

Jett's could be a special experience in a really cool and nostalgic place, but the food was average. Maybe it's Covid related as this was a first time visit, but menu was limited. The ceviche was good as a starter but the tortilla soup was boring. It was broth and a few vegetables. I have this soup often in Houston and if a restaurant served that version there, it wouldn't last long. I probably would not go back to Jett's on my next visit to Marfa. read more

Stayed one night at the Hotel Paisano, which is well worth the trip to Marfa...funky, old, very updated and comfortable, and just plain cool!!! Jett's Grill has dinner service in the courtyard of the hotel. We had planned to eat at Cochaneal (which is closed on Wednesdays, so next visit to Marfa WONT be on a Wednesday) but ended up at Jett's instead....and Jett's did not disappoint one bit!!! High end food and service. I had the pistachio-crusted sirloin (a glorified CFS) and jalapeno gravy, with mashers, grilled jalapeno and peas in the shell, and the dinner was one of the top 3 CFS I have ever eaten....hands down. Crust was amazing, and well cooked, not the crust-skin that passes for CFS at many famous places. Co-worker had the fish special, which was equally well prepared and delicious. The courtyard, like much of Marfa, is a great place to chill and talk to other travelers. This really is one of those "Must-Visit" places for those wanting to step off the busy path, and take a relaxing break for a few days. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

I had a cheeseburger. It was good, but not fantastic. I had been in Texas for several days and had not eaten any beef, or meat even for that matter- which seemed odd to me. With Texas, I think of cattle and thick steaks. The were very accomodating to my vegan and vegetarian dining companions who had to make altercations and requests to a couple menu items. This restaurant is piggybacking off of its location in the worst kind of way. Set in the historic, beautiful Paisano hotel, it was unfortunately one of the only restaurants still open for dinner when we arrived in Marfa at 8:30 pm. As soon as we walked in, we weren't really feeling the vibe (it felt like a fancy beach resort restaurant, and we're 2 college grads camping and roadtripping around America), and as we waited for a half hour for our table (with many open tables in sight!) we had an even worse feeling about the restaurant. My meal consisted of grilled vegetables (good, but I'd made them just as well over a campfire a few days earlier) and disgustingly salty rice. My friend had a shrimp pasta, and the pasta had no sauce on it at all. We both left pretty dissatisfied, especially for the $15 each we paid. We agreed that we could have just made much better food for ourselves. Unfortunately, the service made the experience worse. I felt incredibly bad for the hostess / bartender / waitress, who was working really incredibly hard, but couldn't make up for the two slow, unhelpful actual waiters. It seemed like an "off night" where they were just missing a couple people, but from seeing the other yelp reviews, I guess it's a permanent state of affairs. We were really hungry travelers, and wanted to have a satisfying, worthwhile meal, but it sadly was not to be found. read more

We stayed at the El Paisano for a couple of nights this week. The bar at Jett's Grill is top notch. The bartenders and staff are extremely well trained and professional. The drinks were good and the food was tasty. You can't ask for more than that. We started out with the potato wedges with jalapeno gravy with our drinks at happy hour and it was a well crafted and tasty snack. The gravy was so good we came back later for dinner in the restaurant. My wife and I both had the Chicken Fried Steak with jalapeno gravy and pistachio. Very good. Have to say I have become a fan of the jalapeno gravy. The asparagus on the side was fantastic! It had an asian preparation that was very tasty. The next night we shared the shrimp nachos over drinks at the bar and it was also very tasty. I would definitely eat here again. read more

We watched our server, Amanda, get sat 10 times in under a half hour and she handled it like a true professional. She is a badass. Had a great meal here with our crew of 4 last night. We came into Marfa around 7 and they were one of the only places still open for dinner (not all that surprising for such a small town, despite the world renowned art scene. We were in no hurry and the patio is very beautiful with spread out tables around a central fountain so the slow service was okay. I had the burger, 2 of us split the salmon linguini, and our last had the breaded chicken. All were Texas-sized and very good. My only real criticism, and maybe it's more of surprise and confusion, is that the bathroom had NO privacy, which forces one to lock the door despite there being two toilets and a urinal (see picture). read more

I've spent quite a few evenings in the Jett's courtyard sharing drinks and stories with friends. It's a lovely place, and when hanging out with locals it's also a source of countless stories and legends. I can't comment on the food, as I've never managed to make it to Jett's while the kitchen was still open. Sadly, they were closed for a private event (wedding) during my last visit so I couldn't take my first-time-in-West-Texas friends to check it out, but there's always next time. read more

I decided to go against my better judgement and the numerous poor reviews, and eat here for my birthday dinner, at the guidance of a local who just told me they had been taken over by new management. There is a serious service issue, but not one of understaffing, in fact there was plenty of staff milling around, chatting behind the bar, etc. , but only two employees actually taking care of all the tables inside and out. Our appetizer was forgotten, our food took over an hour to come out, and BOY, was it a let down. Burger was charred, fries were uncooked, steak was way over cooked/chewy and the sides came out cold, for a whopping $60 a plate. Couldn't even send back because, you guessed it, our waiter was never seen again. This place used to be great and the Paisano is a gem, I really hope they get it together soon because this was insanely underwhelming and disappointing. read more
