Promotions are nice, a good value... but you cannot trust that their app or the sales prices work. The employees are snotty, clearly frustrated, because they constantly complain that they spend a lot of time dealing with price adjustments and that lots of shoppers complain. Reality! As a long time supporter of Jewel, the Jewel on Peace rd in Sycamore, IL is a disgrace. Management there is horrible. "Kim Palmer" does not care for her employees or customers just focuses on the profit side of Jewel. She has no remorse to help employees it's all about Jewel and "earned time off" Every department is understaffed and stressed to the max, but they are always "over budget" How is that possible?? Customers complain there's no compassion from her nor the upper management above her. And don't even get me started with the "union" it's hard to get ahold of them and when you finally do, you don't hear or see any actions. I drive 45 minutes out of my way to go to another Jewel because of my experiences at the sycamore Jewel. read more

I stop in every week or so to pick up a few select groceries here. I love shopping their produce sections and they almost always have some kind of sale going on that I take advantage of. Employees have been very helpful when I had a few questions on where to find things, what sales were happening etc. Overall I definitely recommend the location read more

This is the worst Jewel I have ever shopped at and if I could give it 0 stars I would. The deli line is ridiculous and the number machine is either not working or the employees don't use it. You have to check the dates on everything you buy and customer service is non existent. On 3 different occasions I have sent an email to the corporate office and just receive back a sorry for your experience from the store manager. I don't need an apology I need a store I can shop at where the registers are staffed and I get decent service. read more

This store seems to have one of the better meat and produce selections within 4 or 5 miles, so we end up here more often than not. For a store this size, it also seems to have a pretty good beer and wine selection, a big plus for a last minute purchase. Staff is friendly and they don't seem to have much turnover, so the experience they have is a plus. Overall, I would recommend. read more

She was stellar in helping me get stock out of the back, and making sure I got what I needed. She is a rockstar. Please give Gabby a raise, she's been working at that location for 20 years. Nice store on the inside. Never evet get a corsage or boutonniere from them. Tiny little roses for the wrist corsage and the stem was detached on the boutonniere. Very unhappy senior and parents. Doesn't pay to try to save a few dollars. It bites back. read more

I've never had a problem going into jewel but I called customer service and they were absolutely horrible. I was on hold 3 different times bc everyone I talked to said they would go check if they had the product in stock. Another employee would pick up and said they would also check. So I waited. Once again another person picked up and also said the same thing. I gave up bc they left me waiting and never answered my question, just left me on hold for 20 mins. I walk in to see a bunch of workers in a big group just talking. No one even looked to see if they had the product I asked about even though 3 different people said they would. I love Jewel, but lately it has been a hassle coming in there. My main issue is that you got rid of self-checkout and replaced it with 'Fast Lanes'. The problem here is that the fast lanes are not always open. If I'm going in there for a few things I just want to go in and go out quickly. I grocery shop there all the time but in the morning I walk in to just grab a canned coffee drink and go to work. The past two times fast lanes were not open and only 1 register was open, which there have been customers with carts full of groceries. So unlike before with self-checkout where I was in and out in a couple minutes, I'm waiting for upwards of 10-12 minutes just to buy one thing. If theft was a concern and that is why you got rid of self-checkout, I'm not sure if you made the right decision to try and solve the issue. Instead to combating theft, you only punished the customer. Invest in lost prevention, not Fast Lanes that are not open all the time. I'll continue to shop with you because your employees are friendly and polite and have a great selection of product. You guys do a great job and that is what those 3 stars are for. Solve the issue with faster checkout and you'll earn those other 2 stars. read more

If you enjoy really high grocery bills and consistently poor customer service, then this is your store. Hyvee has the same high prices but stellar customer service. After another bad experience, I took the time to fill out the online survey, describing multiple problems with that visit. You'd think a manager would see the complaint and be curious enough to follow up with an email or phone call. No attempt to contact me and rectify the multitude of problems. The store is very poorly managed, that much is obvious, and it reflects onto the employees. I'm done with this place. read more

We went to pick up a couple libations for our hosts in Sycamore two weeks ago, and we went through the self-checkout lane. One of our beer purchases would not ring up repeatedly, and we turned to find the cashier walking away from her station to organize something in front of the store. We approached her, and before we said a word she muttered "I already cleared it", without even looking up. When we stated the problem, she repeated what she said, so we had to bring her over to show her. She grabbed the bottle and said loudly "What is this, booze". We corrected her, and she finally fixed the problem and huffed away. My wife and I have both worked in service, and we understand rough days, but this was extremely uncalled for and we will be looking for another place to shop when we visit again. read more

Liquor department never has rebates for items advertised. Service desk personal seemed to care less. No pride, why should I go back?

OMG! I will never never be back to this Jewel, EVER. I enjoyed the produce and meat departments compared to other groceries, and generally appreciated the cleanliness of the place. But my last encounter with one of the cashiers a few weeks ago did me in. Checking out with a large cart of groceries, I, like others, try to pick a lane that will move quickly. Bingo, found a competent cashier, and waited patiently as he rang up the lady in front of me who also had a large cart of groceries. But alas, some bottles of Skinny Lady Wine needed a 21+ year old cashier to ring tje, up. Our cashier called over to the cashier in charge on the floor and she said she'd be right over. Well, we waited, and waited, and waited. And then waited some more. The customer in front of me, our young cashier, and myself kept ourselves busy talking and laughing--but finally the wait began to become very uncomfortable. We watched as the cashier in charge checked out an elderly man at the express lane, expecting her to run over and punch in code for alcohol, BUT NOOOOOOOO. Another customer walks up to her and she begins to check that person out. As politely as I could, I yelled over to her counter and said, "Did you forget about us over here. We need a 21." Eventually this crab apple makes her way over and says loudly, " I DIDN'T forget about you, I was helping other customers!" I said, "We saw what you did," implying that we saw her check out 2 other customers when she easily could have stepped over and spent 30 seconds punching in the alcohol purchase. After she punched it in, she stepped up towards me so that no one else could see, and gave me the dirtiest, most ugly nasty look I have ever seen in my life. I swear if smoke could fume out her ears, she'd be smokin! Wow, such hate and vitriol because she was asked to come and punch in a 21 and it didn't meet her time frame. In speaking with other employees about this incident, they begged me to report this woman to her supervisor because they said the wait time happens frequently--and she treats them worse than she treated me! Actually, when I look at the situation at the Sycamore Jewel, I can't help but wonder if there is a bit of sexual orientation discrimination going on here--where certain employees are bullied by her and are afraid to speak up. Could be a breeding ground for a sexual harASSment suit at the Sycamore Jewel. I felt a phone call to Jewel corporate was best , as there is perhaps a supervisor, who let's this lady get away with this behavior towards fellow employees and Sycamore Jewel customers. Let THEM sort it out. read more

Such an overpriced store! 1.40 a lemon! Almost 8.00 for a bag of lemons! 1.00 per tiny bunch of garlic that tastes like mold! Here I thought mountain store prices were bad, until I ventured to sycamore and had to shop at jewel. I really wish Browns was still there. When shopping here try and find a special hours sign because the employees don't lock the doors when they're supposed to (and it's your fault)!!! My mom went shopping there on Christmas eve, the doors were unlocked so she went in to begin shopping. She checked the hours online before shopping and it said they were open until midnight. Upon shopping for 15 minutes an employee came up to her and informed her that they were closed (20 minutes ago). She told them that the doors were unlocked and didn't see a sign. They told her she had to come up front and check out. She was ready to cry and told the clerk that she wasn't done shopping and and at least needed milk for Christmas dinner. Out of the "kindness" of the employees heart they got her the milk. I didn't even receive the present she was getting me there and had to make a special trip to get a totally different gift!! Be weary of the high prices and untrained employees at this store!!! She spend WAY to much money there because of the "convenience" of the location!!! read more
