A young lady appraised my diamond and wedding band set today. I was told my S1 1.15 carrot diamond was worth $1500 when it was purchased for 5k 33 years ago. I would say this is a complete rip off and all of you should beware! i understand you have a business to run and your pricing is different from a retail store, but your statement that im upset that my diamond is not worth the purchase price is incorrect. it is worth that as i double checked multiple online sources. You folks just wanted to take advantage as your offer wasnt even close! Genuine diamonds generally appreciate at 2-3% annually while lab diamonds have declined. I had a ring that had been sitting around in a home safe for years. This was a diamond ring in an outdated and ornate gold setting. This place far exceeded my expectations. The location I went to was in Saltbox Village on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary. It is a nice area and the shop itself is quite classy. It is minimal inside, as its purpose is for intake and not resell, so this is nothing like a pawn shop and there is no need for much furniture. Parking was not a problem since it is within a shopping center. On to my experience. I went in to sell a necklace, three pendants, and two rings. Ms. Jill Fletcher assisted me and she was very professional, informative, and friendly. She performed a variety of tests on my items and weighed the items right in front of me. They have fancy equipment and since everything is done in your presence, you can see the true karat of the items as well. She gave me a price quote and some of my items required additional testing and then a final offer was made. We all know that you do not ever get back what you pay for jewelry, and with my past experience of dealing with a pawn shop, I will with no hesitation say you should come here instead. I was pleased with the price I received. As for payment, they may be able to do cash up to a certain limit or they will write you a business check on the spot. I had 30+ pieces of gold jewelry that I no longer wore sitting around for years and decided to see what I could get for it. My husband the non-trusting and obsessive one decided that he needed to understand the gold selling process and value of our pieces before trusting that we would not be ripped off due to our ignorance. So, he bought a cheap scale from Amazon and recorded the gram weight on return address labels attached to individual tiny zip lock bags and then separated the bags by karat. Then he googled the daily Gold price by OZ, converted to $ per gram and then applied to the total grams weighed by Karat type. To get a close approximation of the Gold resale value we should expect to receive, he googled "Calculating the Cost of Gold Jewelry, Is There a Rule of Thumb?" By Calla Gold and followed through with the math based on what we were selling. Further googling gave us an idea of how much a Gold Buyer would take for their profits and cost of having the gold melted down and we decided that getting N% of the value of the gold was a fair price for both the Seller and Buyer. Again, my husband is a bit obsessive, but I have to say that interesting enough we walked in with a pretty good idea of what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised when the offer was almost $100 higher. We were also extremely impressed by JewlyRecycle's honesty when they told us that 3 of the pieces we thought were 14k were actually 18k . They use a device that accurately can read the metal composition and break down its elements so that the true Gold percentage is known. This is good for the seller and the buyer. We will absolutely do business with them again and I can't recommend them highly enough for anyone wanting to sell gold.
