BOB IS FANTASTIC!! I am about to tell you why. I hadn't worn my wedding ring and band in 3 years because it needed to be resized and repaired and I was deathly afraid of taking the set somewhere to be worked on; fearing I wouldn't get my ring back. When I went to his shop, I was nervous. He was working with a long time customer I became aware listening to their conversation as I waited. Bob is very personable. He listens to his customers, he reminded me about the features of my ring and band shared with me by my original jeweler many years ago. He didn't try to sell me on redesign or repairs that I didn't need. I really liked that! He earned my confidence. Wait, this isn't the best part. In less than a week, he had repaired and resized my ring and put in an order for an additional gold band to wear as a solution to prong rubbing issue. When I got my ring set back, I was stunned. It was so beautiful! I hadn't seen it look like that since the day I had picked the mounting and diamond center over 25 years ago. I almost rear ended a vehicle on the way home because I was admiring his work wearing my ring home. All his work and service was super reasonable too. I knew he was the guy for me when I saw a picture of him in his repair gear on his site and I read all his reviews. He does free cleanings too. Bob Columbo was amazing and extremely helpful. Immediately when I went into the store Bob put me at ease with his knowledge and genuine attitude which for buying a ring that will last a life time is a little nerve racking. He took the time to not only build a great rapport, but also eagerly went through all of my suggestions and ideas for an engagement ring. He also was very detailed and showed me multiple options for everything that I brought up in addition to being very honest about both quality and price; so I felt like I was getting the most for my money out of both the ring, and the service. I had been looking for a jeweler to help make my antique, heirloom engagement ring fit for a while with no success. The ring is handmade and has two stamps, one on the front and one on the side, that we wanted preserved. Therefore, resizing was not an option. We were also afraid to do any soldering - so we were looking for a band to put in front of the ring so I would not lose it. My mother in law found Bob and I came in (when he was officially closed - no less) for a consultation. Within 30 minutes Bob had solved my problem - we found a small band that would fit between my ring and my finger that could be set in place with non-permanent epoxy. We ordered the band and when I went to pick it up, Bob inserted the band (which seemed like a fairly difficult to do), epoxied it, and cleaned/polished my ring. By the end of the week, I was able to wear the ring with the insert without fear that I would lose a priceless family heirloom. Thank you Bob! Would 1000% recommend his services. read more

This is the place to go for jewelry repairs, batteries and the like. It isn't a big place, but it is what you think of when you think of a long-established small local business. I did not have to wait, and the guy in charge - apparently Bob - mixed me in with another customer to get my somewhat obscure watch opened and fixed, with a new battery to boot. I was amazed at how fast it was and the price was pretty darn reasonable. I recommend this place very highly. I hope you will go here -- operating a small business in downtown Rochester can be a struggle these days. (I have gone in the past to that big jeweler out on Monroe and was treated disrespectfully and with disdain, not to mention that I was going to be overcharged (so I left) - - and Jewelry Clinic was a comparative pleasure.) read more

I could not be more thrilled with Bob and the excellent work he's done!! My fiance gave me my grandmother's engagement ring, which was much too large for me. After taking it to other jewelry stores and being rejected due to pitting in the ring, I brought it to Jewelry Clinic. Bob looked at it and didn't see what all the fuss was about, he knew he could resize it with ease. When I expressed my concern about the pitting and potential damage, Bob's answer delighted me. "Well I mean, it's got to be on your finger, that's what's important." He then briefly explained to me how he was going to fix my ring and what he would do if any damage occurred. Thanks to Google and other reviewers, I found Mr. Colombo and the Jewelry Clinic. And as "Sara L." said: "Bob Columbo saves the day!" :) I had a watch (nothing special, really, I just *like* it) that had been mauled and declared dead, beyond fixing by another person/place. I took the poor thing to the Jewelry Clinic, and Bob repaired the gasket (that was letting in dirt and causing some of the problems), replaced the battery and - hey presto! OMG, it works again! I was so grateful that he was willing to work on it (sort of a "costume jewelry" of watch-dom) and didn't make me feel like a dork for wanting it to work again. I had a pair of emerald earrings that I could no longer wear, and 1-stone emerald ring, that my husband and I wanted to have reset as a 3-stone ring for our 10th anniversary. We went to Jewelry Clinic and Bob was extremely helpful with the design and setting of the ring. We got a very pretty, one-of-a-kind ring for a reasonable price and couldn't be happier. Bob also resized, engraved and polished our wedding bands - again, the price was very reasonable. He's a true craftsman and has a great eye for design. I have known Bob for several years. I first started going to him when I was working downtown. After my mother passed away, I wanted to have a ring made with special stones. It took me a while to make a decision and all the while Bob was very patient and helpful with his suggestions. The ring turned out beautiful. I needed a diamond eternity ring resized and found Jewelry Clinic via a google search, and I am so glad I did. Bob did an excellent job resizing the ring, not once, but twice. On top of that, he is very knowledgeable and was able to give me great advice regarding the size that I wanted. Today was my third visit to the Jewelry Clinic. I trusted Bob with some very sentimental pieces of jewelry: my wedding bands, a watch and bracelets that belonged to a friend who has passed, and a watch my husband bought me in the 90's before we got married. Highly recommend! Took my ring there to be sized. Bob was helpful, kind, and informative. He took time to talk with us about the ring and options for cleaning, care, and sizing.
