Visited Jewels by Jane searching for an engagement ring. I called the day before and Jane helped curate an amazing selection of engagement ring styles and diamonds prior to my arrival. She was extremely helpful and generous through the whole selection process and also assisted with wedding bands. Birthday wishes in May lead to EMERALD CITY! We went straight to St. Vincent's and looked around until we found The Wizard of Emeralds. Jane is a lovely lady with great taste. She has been in business for 40 years. Like Michelle, her Birthday stone is Emerald. She had a lot of great pieces to show and was very willing to make a great deal to make Michelle's birthday special. She sent us across the street to Mr Kim who has a small office on the 11th floor of a historic Emerald tiled building. He made fast and beautiful work of our adjustments and sent us home extremely happy! It truly was an over the rainbow kind of day!

Please keep in mind, at the time of the quote, gold was valued at $5100 per ounce and when I visited, it dropped to $4600 per ounce. I came in, and was told it would be $400-$450 because my total carat weight was in actuality 1.58. I let them know about the estimate I received, to which she angrily said, this is why I hate it when they do online quotes, because people don't know what sizes they have. And then she also got upset because she doesn't know who gave me the quote because of the way Yelp profiles are set up. My mistake for the sizing, but it's not even a full 1/10th of a carat weight. An extra $100 for 0.08. I would understand an increase relative to the weight, had it been 2 total carat weight, that's completely reasonable at half a carat per $100. She said it costs $200 to source the settings, and it doesn't include the labor to polish and clean the item. She started stuttering when she was trying to justify the pricing, so I knew she was lying. A quick google search tells you differently, and they have access to warehouse pricing, so let's be real, she chose to arbitrarily charge more because she felt like it. I left and went with another local jeweler, where they gave me the exact same setting for $300. Don't take what they tell you at face value, do your own research, and make sure you don't get swindled by this business trying to take advantage because they think you don't know any better.

We had no idea, as to "our" budget, except it was given to us our wedding gift. My paternal aunt purchased, all of our wedding flowers here and placed together by family, with love. We were there, bright and early and got best quality flowers. It was day or two, before they would be used. They must be preserved, freshly and kept them inside my bathroom, in dark, cold room & cranked up AC. All of it was placed in bathtub for hydration.

First the website mentions parking on the roof and we could not find this parking. There was an area blocked off, but it didn't say full. It was just blocked off and the only reason I suspect that was their parking lot is because the exit was still open. So I had to pay for $10 across the street. Yes we could have found street parking further away, but I was already frustrated not having found their lot and my partner was just like I'll just pay. Let's just go across the street. Next even though it is mentioned on the website (I don't remember seeing it despite looking at the website multiple times) and there was a $2 entrance fee. what am I paying $2 for? Why am I paying $2 to shop and spend more money? I'm sorry just on the way there as we got closer, there are so many flower shops around the mart so I don't see why you wouldn't just go to one of those and get your flowers without having to pay an additional fee. So now, we are already $14 out-of-pocket and we havent done anything but try to park and step inside. We get inside we look around and I honestly did not find the prices to be that different from a farmers market perhaps a slightly bigger bouquet, or a couple of dollars cheaper, but there was nothing that was like ooh, this is a great deal. We ended up buying a large bouquet of lilies for $25. There is a stall in the back that had what I would consider actually good price prices. Five stems for $10 and a big bushel of another kind of flower for $6. We got those as well. My partner also really liked the plant guy and bought a plant from him from $20. Now here is where I really will not be back. I stopped at a stall called Choice America. I saw a really pretty set of mum's and asked how much they were & was told $10. The guy helping me then confirmed that they were $10 with somebody else. He then went on to say that one with eight stems was a higher price that I don't remember because I knew I wasn't getting that.When I got to the counter to actually pay, the woman was going back-and-forth with another customer about some order. They both seemed equally frustrated. Why is this important?.. because when it was my time to pay she said $10. I handed her a $20 bill. She opens the register and pulls out a five and some ones throws up her hands. I deduced that already being frustrated this is just one more thing on top as she doesnt have enough change to give me and instead turns to me and says $12.50. I kind of stumble and I say for what... tax or something? and she goes yeah tax clearly lying! Even if they did charge tax, which no other stall did, sales tax in Los Angeles on $10 it's not $12.50. The unfortunate problem is that I am black and I am not afforded the luxury to say something back because then I'm seeing as an angry black woman, have the police called on me not being believed etc. etc. so I just have to bite the bullet and get scammed and ripped off of my money. My partner and I both agree that it was not worth the hassle to go, but he really wants to take me to the restaurant across the street so we would go back to the plant guy and we would go back to the stall in the back but even those are BIG IFS as neither of us has any desire to ever go back to the Flower Mart. I feel like overall. The whole place is a money grab, you should save your money and go to your local farmers market or visit one of the many other vendors that were around the area without having to pay an admission fee to even buy flowers. Or better yet be bold like the elderly lady who accosted us as we were leaving and asked "are you all done in there can I have your sticker?" I was already too flustered to even recognize what she was asking till after my partner happily handed his over.

My sister purchased a 3-carat diamond solitaire ring from Jane years ago. When it came time for me to upgrade my own wedding diamond to 3 carats I went to the Jewelry Mart intending to purchase from Jane, but she had moved and I couldn't find her kiosk. I spent the day with other jewelers at the Mart. Every one of them treated me like I was a sucker with money to burn. I was shown poor quality diamonds, both certified and non-certified, and the ridiculousness of their trying to convince me how wonderful their low quality diamonds were was demeaning and offensive. Minutes before the Mart closed I finally connected with Jane and gave her the guidelines and budget I was working with. She kept in touch with me via phone and let me know when she had collected a number of stones for me to consider. She spent an entire afternoon with me, patiently helping me to assess the characteristics and quality of each diamond, even calling down an excellent diamond broker with whom she works to deliver additional stones as we honed in on my preferences. She didn't try to convince me on any particular diamond; she wanted ME to understand the compromise between size, quality, value and budget and to make the choice with which I would be happy. Jane treated me like a valued client and by the end we felt like friends. I selected a stunning 3-carat diamond and had it set in my own band. She phoned me the next day to make sure I was still ecstatic with my ring and to thank me again for doing business with her. Purchasing jewelry in a jewelry district is not for everyone. If you want or need a romantic "champagne and classical music" experience when purchasing jewelry, you won't feel good about the LA Mart or any purchase you might make there. For myself, I am willing to forego the elegance of a few hours-long experience at a fancy jewelry store in exchange for the value of shopping wholesale. The key to appreciating the Mart is to trust the jeweler with whom you work. Jane has earned my trust, and I will work exclusively with her for my future jewelry purchases. This is my and my fiance's very first purchase from Jane and Justin, and certainly won't be the last! We came to the jewelry district about a week ago looking for an engagement ring. We brought my sister to help us, since her knowledge of diamonds and opinion mean a lot to me. We stopped at least half a dozen stands and neither of them even had what we were looking for. My wife recently had a heart attack and had a platinum stent placed in one of her arteries. She is doing fine, thanks God. The prices were second to none and the customer service was the reason I came back to purchase my wifes five year anniversary ring. I was told about Jane from a family members friend that comes to her for all of her jewelry needs. After some thinking, my boyfriend and I made a trip down to LA from Santa Rosa to check out her diamonds. Jane made sure the diamonds she showed me met my every need for what I wanted in my diamond ring. Size, color, quality, and it turned out even more amazing than I imagined. PLUS, she threw in my boyfriends soon to be wedding ring as well. Hi everyone! Had a somewhat hectic day in LA until I met up with Jane at her jewelry boutique in LA. I have been shopping for diamond tri-colored diamond bracelets for quite some time and I found MANY to choose from at her location on Hill street. I was assisted by her lovely associate and was shown many choices. And she had fantastically competitive prices and I scored on the most amazing pieces! Rose, yellow and white gold bracelets with diamonds that fit perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Just got back from Jane's location in the LA Jewelry District. Her new business name is Jewels by Jane. My husband, son, and myself have been doing business with her for over 25 years, and we have always been satisfied with our purchases. Her prices are very fair and her jewelry and stones are of excellent quality. She will do her best to find what you are looking for and I have yet to leave without a piece of jewelry I love!
