Let's start with, I hate exercise. But somehow I really enjoy going to this gym and the people I've…read moremet there. There's no attitude or competition, and the clients are of all ages. It's run by two amazing, friendly women, one of whom trains my little group with great humor, flexibility, and attention to our needs. The exercises are staged to our various fitness levels and she's always encouraging us to do a little better each visit. Highly recommend!

Arenal Fitness is a CrossFit affiliate in Pikesville. I became acquainted with them through a…read moreGroupon offer, and I'm really glad I gave them a try. Treadmills and typical group classes weren't cutting it for me; it all felt like a boring waste of time. CrossFit is a pretty intense experience, but they emphasize scaling things to your current level and make it doable for yourself (but not easy! Never easy!). It's a stripped-down style of training, focusing heavily on using good form and developing functional strength (probably why it's so popular with military, police officers, and firefighters). The equipment is all very simple - free weights, jump ropes, barbells, kettlebells, plyo boxes, etc. Every day, there is a different WOD (workout of the day) to keep your body guessing. Typical activities include body-weight work (pull-ups, push-ups, dips, squats), weight lifting, running, jumping. All of the trainers are knowledgeable, SUPER friendly, and encouraging, but they don't let you get away with bad form or half-assed efforts. Everybody cheers you on to get yourself up there for that that last pull-up. The goal is to leave having surprised yourself with what you were able to do. I think the recent Groupon deal brought in a surge of new members, so if you're new to this sort of workout, don't be shy about showing up for a demo or the Basics class sessions. There will be tons of newbies there figuring things out with you. There are also plenty of serious athletes who work out here; it's cool to see them do amazing things and imagine getting up to that level someday. Arenal is located at the far end of the The Shops at Quarry Lake, so if you get there super early or have the wherewithal after class, you could run errands. There's tons of free parking as well, and easily accessible from 695. Price-wise, Arenal seems comparable to other CrossFit gyms in the area (leaning toward cheaper, actually) and describes its pricing as "a la carte". They have many levels of membership, from pay-per-class to monthly unlimited classes to full 24/7 access if you're comfortable training on your own. Every review has to include some cons. The locker room situation isn't the best. There are 3 unisex changing rooms, 2 of which have shower stalls. For stashing your stuff, there is only a small bank of lockers. Most of us pile our stuff on the floor in a corner. I'm lucky to have time to change at home before class; otherwise, my nice work clothes could get pretty crumpled. Also, the gym seems pretty full these days, so be prepared to share equipment, alternate sets with people, and wait a little while for your turn. That's not THAT big a deal, though, is it? Pretty standard gym stuff. Long story short (too late!), Arenal is a great, diverse gym for people looking to challenge themselves. Definitely worth a look.

It wasn't very crowded so I didn't experience any issues accessing or sharing the items that I wanted to use. My overall impression is that this is a nice, spacious facility with a lot to offer its members. They offer fitness classes including Pilates and water fitness, there are also personal trainers available. I even saw a couple of massage chairs. As a guest, I've had good experiences and cannot comment much on customer service or experience as a paid member. However, based on the experience that I've had, I would definitely consider using the guest facility privileges again in the future.

The massage offered is expensive so packages seem More desirable however good luck scheduling with whom you want, when you want, within their expiration time of said package. They are real cheats here and Tammy who runs the department is tough and will not refund nor give massage. They just keep your money. Rebecca who works there does not listen when instructing her if touch is too hard. I bought a massage for my sister and she hurt her and my sister kept telling her to lighten up. Erica at the desk is one snotty person. Tamara and Vanessa at desk are lovely. I found another gym to go to. The pool is old and often closed for repair. There are no amenities to speak of since Covid. There used to be coffee and tea. Overall it once was a great club and now is only fair. Go elsewhere.

While in the area, I decided to workout in this gym instead of going across town to the one I…read morenormally go to. Plus it waa said to be new and good. Ita located in the circle area by Raw Juice. I could see parking to be a hassle as its tight. The gym is below apartments and surrounded by other shops. Once I walked in, I was greeted and as I am accustom to a norm of being provided with a towel or 2; I asked as I was provided and was told they dont provide them at this location. I then asked the direction of the locker room for women as this was my first time at this location. This is definitely new and updated compared to Reisterstown location but smaller then Padonia. I went to the locker room, changed out to gym fit and browsed the place to adjust for working out. Unfortunately, my brain didnt adjust well as thete arent towels nor mats. Its pretty small, and split level with stair master/treadmull and other machinery of the sort upstairs. The gym presented clean throughout as well as quiet. Im not sure if its due to it being 2pm. Needless to say, I did not workout as this gym is minimal with what Im use to receiving and wasnt prepared for this gym without the towels and mats I would probably only come if the others closed for whatever reason. So with that being said, I personally will continue wirking out at Reisterstown or Padonia locations.

One of my biggest complaints about my old gym was that it didn't have nearly enough treadmills for the size of the facility so I was often waiting for someone to leave at peak hours. This has never been an issue at Brick Bodies. I also love that the cycling room is typically open and available for use even if there's no class going on. The locker rooms are oftentimes clean and I love the lockers with built in locks -- no need to bring your own! I don't do any of the classes here anymore (mainly because I'm also a CorePower member and prefer their classes) but they offer a wide array for different skill levels. I took one barre class here but wasn't a fan of the instructor and the pace of the class wasn't intense enough for me. I would love to see towel service be introduced here. When I joined back in 2021 I thought the lack of towels was a Covid-era, thing but fast forward to 2026 and they still don't provide any. It's $50 a month ($25 every two weeks) making it a more affordable option compared to my previous gym.
