Jose came out and spoke with me in a casual and reassuring manner. It was obvious he cared about what he was doing and knew his business. I don't have a lot of money, and wanted a great roof. I pitted JGG Roofing against 5 other local roofing companies. JGG gave me the most competitive quote. I also noticed they have more modern practices regarding ventilation, subroofing, and knowledge of current shingles, ect. Some of the other companies were a bit too old fashioned for me and still used felt instead of synthetic and the like. I needed my old roof removed, new plywood put down, and shingles added. Bottom up reroof job. JGG came out and removed my roof quickly, then replaced a lot of termite damage with very minimal additional cost (this was stated up front as not being part of quote, same with all other companies that came out). Based on reputation, I contracted with JGG Roofing to replace the roof on my home several years ago, and the project was perfect and has had no leaks. I also own an apartment building in West LA, and 11 years in (on a 30-year roof), that building started developing "mystery leaks" causing a few upper units to require major ceiling patching and repainting. Without a 2nd thought, I called JGG. The roof was originally installed by a local roofing company in Mar Vista, but I decided to ask JGG to inspect it and locate the problems. The owner Jose came out and we walked the roof together. He quickly identified the problem - all the vents (plumbing, heating, dryer vents, and attic vents) lacked proper flashing and continuous sealing, so in the heavy rains SoCal saw this season, water was able to get under the top layer and travel a few feet before dripping down into the units. We agreed on a solution and price, and while the estimate was more than I anticipated, JGG's crew showed up and worked a solid week. They meticulously exposed each roof vent and penetration (over 135 total for the whole building) and corrected the problems of the poor workmanship from the original installer, matching the surrounding shingles & ridge perfectly. When the project was completed, the entire site was left clean - and all the vent pipes were even repainted. Prior to the job, Jose came out and inspected our home's roof that desperately needed to be replaced ASAP. You know Jose and his team are true professionals as they estimate quotes based off their inspections and findings without rushing. They analyze their information. Other roofers in my area simply gave us quick quote without actually going on the roof and really inspecting its state. Out of the four roofers I contacted, Jose was the only one who climbed up to inspect. When you receive your quote, it's transparent and clear as to what needs to be done and how much you're expected to pay. If additional work is needed, Jose will caution you of the possibilities before the work begins. Sometimes you can't catch it all! Unfortunately for our home's roof, a lot of the wood was rotten and had to be replaced. Due to the circumstances, Jose gave us another invoice that broke down the materials needed for the additional work. We thought that this was really professional and honest of him. Other roofers likely wouldn't have been transparent and honest with the additional work needed. Jose's team spend an extra day on our roof to ensure everything was fully repaired. I forgot to mention, but Jose's team does an EXCELLENT job of cleaning everything when they remove the old roofing. The gentleman that came out from JGG was very nice, and professional, and explained thoroughly the plan to fix my leak. This was a Thursday, and when asked when I would receive my quote, I was told by Friday or Monday. I waited a week before finally reaching out through email. I received no response. I called the office twice, left messages, and a text, and again no response. I don't appreciate the lack of communication. JGG replaced my old roof with a brand new one. They replaced a few rotted boards, new sheathing and shingles. They also installed 4 new attic vents. Their work is quick and clean. The only delay was the city inspections. A roofer was alway on the property to meet them, even though the City would give a ridiculous 2-3 hour window appt. Despite not being able to go with JGG Roofing just due to my own budget constraints, I felt compelled to leave a review. Judith is friendly and professional when scheduling your appointment. Jose came out a few days later and was courteous enough to call and let me know the exact timeframe he would be arriving. He did a thorough roof inspection and told me exactly what I needed. I didn't feel like he was trying to up sell me on services or products. They use Owens Corning cool roof 30 year shingles which is huge upgrade from what I currently have. I would have definitely used him to repair/replace my roof but too be honest I just under budgeted. So I have to do what's best for me economically and just repair my problem area...until I find funds to do a new roof. Nonetheless you wouldn't be wrong calling on JGG for an estimate. His estimate was very competitive and fair. We required a lot of additional repairs due to termite damage and they did an outstanding job on the repairs. The crew were very polite and professional. It was raining and our tenants roof was leaking. Needless to say it was hard to find a roofing company. We did get bids from several companies. Our problem was that our tenants roof needed to be tarped asap. We had the tarps and wood. However my husband is 80 years old and we were not looking forward to doing it ourselves.
